I originally sought to hire a roofing contractor via Yelp and sent a quote request to several companies at once. Edy responded within an hour of my posting and via messaging I shared pics of my roof, my budgetary situation and timeline. Edy acknowledged my concerns and met me at my property to better understand and communicate the reality of my roofing situation. Edy proceeded to share his findings (a roof layered with two layers of heavy asphalt shingles) and his professional advice and hesitation to lay a metal roof over the existing shingles, although doable, at this stage considering the amount of weight already bearing down onto the property's structure. His honesty and hesitancy to complete this job to merely satisfy the customer and collect a financial sum spoke volumes. He offered and I accepted, free of charge, a detailed breakdown of all material needed to complete a metal roofing project and after much negotiation with Edy, addressing the labor costs and trash removal, allowed me to better understand the magnitude of a roofing job. After some thought and citing the fact that he set an honest tone from the onset, I hired him understanding that other unforeseen structural issues could arise and upon their first day on the job site with his crew totaling 4, he in fact discovered a foam barrier placed upon the frame acting as an insulator (I have an a-frame home). Edy and I worked through the issue which resulted in additional materials and labor costs, but after detailed removal of the shingles and meticulously installing the metal sheets over insulation via wood slats, the project was completed beautifully and professionally. Edy and his crew were very detail oriented, respectful, courteous and friendly. We are absolutely thrilled with the work, quality of materials, the very hard-working crew and their attention to details. We had an unusual request: to insulate the steep-pitched roof of our gabled 1940 home. It's a story and a half, so the roof actually acts like the walls for the second story. There is no heat or air conditioning up there. On hot summer days, the second floor where we sleep broils, and in the winter it is terribly cold. The new insulated roof has made an incredible difference in our home. When it was nearly 85 degrees out, the upstairs was pleasant in temperature, and not hot at all. As a result the rest of the house remained cooler too. We feel confident that winter will be a similar experience in comfort. Because the house is older, there were several places on the eaves where the wood had to be replaced. The insulation 'raised' the roof, and they installed venting, and flashing. The workmanship and attention to details (such as flashing over the protruding new eaves) is so wonderful to see. When the house painter came, he was very impressed with the finishing work, and said he often does not see that attention to the details. The crew was lead by Edgar, and the other crew members were Fernando, Hector, Christian and Kylar. They were very friendly and helpful, and had an excellent work ethic. (The owner should be proud of this team!) They seemed proud of their company, and the finished work. They roofed the house, garage and gazebo. The house was an unenviable job because of the pitch of the roof and number of gables, but the crew eagerly met the challenge! Overall, it was an amazing experience and we love the result.
