I was traveling through Colorado pulling a car trailer when I had the unfortunate luck of having a wheel bearing go bad. A quick google search led me to Leadfoot Linda's. Although it was almost closing time for them, Jeff advised me he would do what he could to get me back on the road. The guys proceded to stay late that night to identify the problem and they also provided the parking overnight necessary for the trailer. The next morning they were all over the repair and got me back on the road in no time. I have had many experiences regarding vehicle repair and I must say this is among the best customer service I have received in ages. Being that it is the mountains, I expected high prices. They are very nice and come off as knowledgeable as Silvia S. commented. Luckily, I am blessed with a brother who is a sweet mechanic, but lives in another part of CO. Whenever my truck acts up, I typically bring it into a mechanic and get a run-down of things that may need service and relay that to my brother. Anywho, I brought my truck in for what I knew was an electrical issue. They were able to identify it as a faulty alternator. They also pointed out that my rear axle seal was leaking fluid all over my brakes, and that I would need to repair the axle seal, the brake shoes and drums. Needless to say, the quote was not cheap. I talked to my brother, and I was able to replace my own alternator, saving $250 in labor for the 30 minute fix. I also learned a thing or two. From there, I drove over to meet my brother to inspect the axle seal/brake issues. The axle seal was leaking, but not even close to the extent that Leadfoot told me. They informed me that it had coated the shoes/drums in the fluid, and that the repair was urgent. My brother showed me that there was not a drop of fluid on either of the two, and that the "urgent repair" was unnecessary. I understand mistakes, but trying to take me for a ~$6-700 ride is another thing. Get another quote before you say okay for work to be done on your car! read more

Brought in my car last night when they were closing down and the guys looked at it after hours which I really appreciated, and gave me an idea of why my check engine light was on in my 1998 Honda Civic. The mechanics were helpful and had my car ready to go the next day. The down side is that they charge 140 dollars HOURLY for labor, which is the most I have ever paid in my life for a mechanic. Replacing my spark plugs and rewiring totaled to $409.43. I was also recommended and told it would be about $300 to flush my transmission fluid on my little Honda Civic, which I normally can get for $150. Overall the experience was positive, but Denver might be a better option next time just because of the rates. read more

Yesterday, I found myself in the uncomfortable position of having to take my neighbor's truck into an unknown shop to have the "check engine" light diagnosed. I agreed to the fee and went back to the condo to await the news. Three hours later, Mike called and said that the truck was ok and I could come and get it. Since I no longer had transportation, Christie (the shuttle driver and parts person) came and picked me up . The problem was minor and they didn't charge me anything, not even for the diagnosis. Even gave me a free calendar and ice scraper, which I needed the next morning. Everyone I came in contact with was super friendly and helpful. If I have another car problem in the Vail area, I won't hesitate to call Leadfoot Linda's. read more

At first glance, this looks like a reputable shop. I took my vehicle there to get an oil change and tire rotation, along with investigating a noise on the right side of my vehicle. They tried to sell me an $824 repair of which I only needed less than half of. I took it to another shop and it cost me $314 because half the repair wasn't needed. I didn't enjoy being told that I need to fix more than I actually did. On the way out, they told me my brake lines were rusted and should be replaced and it's usually a lot of work. Of course my brake lines are rusted....my vehicle is 14 years old, but do they need to be replaced? The other shop looked them over and didn't think so, they even gave me a compliment on a good looking (mechanically), older vehicle. I've heard of vehicles coming out of this shop without any oil being put into the engine after an oil and filter change, I would avoid this shop and go to Valley Automotive in Avon on Metcalf Rd instead. They get your car in and out, only repairing what NEEDS to be done. read more

Oh goodness, please do not go here. twice i have dropped my car off for them to check the same things that was obviously wrong with my car (engine rattling, brake lights off) I even left my car there for a week and they didnt do anything except replace my tires and told me everything was ok but if that was the only thing they were going to do I should have brought it to Big O tires next door! I told them in detail what i needed done and checked in to, they agreed and didnt do any of it at all. when I asked them about my bumper getting fixed they said they could do it but then when asked about why nothing was done, someone said to me that they are not a body shop! Well then why would you waste my time and lead me on into thinking you could do something when i asked???? and not once but twice! Ridiculous and a waste of time. FYI: my engine dropped on me months after my visit to Leadfoot Linda's and them telling me that the rattling was nothing to worry about... read more

They are knowledgable and will definitely fix your car. They are wildly expensive though. A scew had fallen out of the part of my car that connects the shifter to the gears, so I had it towed here to get fixed. And they fixed it. It cost about $130 though, about $1 of that was the parts they needed. It seems excessive that they would charge me $125 of labor just to put in a $1 screw. They had me by the balls and totally took advantage of it. But I guess outrageous prices is part of life in the valley. read more

Would not recommend going here. Being a former mechanic myself I am always hesitant to bring my vehicles in to shops but I was in a squeeze and had to. I brought my van in for an oil change expecting to hear them call back with news about a leak I had spotted in the engine bay but I didn't have time to check out personally all I knew is it was red so I assumed Transmission leak or power steering. Sure enough they called saying power steering leak, rear diff leak, front bearings need to be replaced. They quoted me $1400. Steep. I told them to just do the oil change and I'd take it to the front range. Way cheaper down there. After getting my van back I looked at the rear diff-definitely leaking but not bad. Looked at the bearings, yeah they could be replaced. Looked at the power steering pump, NO LEAK. Power steering pump is fine, no leakage anywhere near it. In fact the leak was coming from one of the hoses coming out of the transmission to the cooling unit(radiator). It was so obvious. So I called them back and asked why they said the usually do a quick check and if something looks awry they'll order the part and fix it. So I asked how much was the new pump they ordered, $280 bucks, labor $318. So they were going to charge me $600 bucks for something that was fine. Not honest. Not the local shop I'm looking for. A) couldn't spot the obvious transmission leak and B) was looking to charge me for work that didn't need to be done. Take your car to the front range, its worth it. Leadfoot charges 130 an hour for labor, frontrange you can find 70-90 an hour. Almost half the price. read more

Absolutely a joke. A year ago my buddy got new plugs and wires on his Subaru. This place charged him $360 for that work. I just did mine myself. It cost $36 for new plugs and wires and a half hour of time. I guess leadfoot entails a hint of leadfoot on the gas accelerator in terms of how much this garage charges people. Pathetic. read more

This was by far the worst place I have ever been to. Took three days for them to even diagnose the problem. Finally was told I needed a new camshaft sensor. Got the car back and drove for about 15 minutes and the car died. They towed it back to the shop. Got a call the next day that the wires were corroded. Got the car back after that, drove for about 1500 miles and the timing chain broke apart, and the engine was junk. Ended up putting a new engine in after they supposedly repaired the first one. read more

My cousin was driving back from college and his alternator went out in Vail. He had it towed to Leadfoot Linda's. Replacement alternator job out the door for $625, which seemed pretty high. This included one hour of labor for diagnosis. One hour to diagnose an alternator? Yep, $175 in labor to diagnose the alternator. The kids were in a rush so they just got the job done at Linda's. I called O'reilly auto parts in Avon and they said they could the alternator for $206...Linda's charged $349. Two days later, I called another mechanic in Avon and he quoted me the same job for $425. I called Linda's back and Brian told me that the part I got quoted for was probably from Parts City, which he said sold crap parts and the alternator from there wouldn't be reliable. In fact, the part with the other mechanic I called was quoted from Napa Auto Parts. So, before you take your car to Leadfoot Lindas, consider one of their competitors. read more

I had recently moved to the area and purchased a used car from an independent seller. For three days, I got to enjoy it, until, on the highway it started grinding, screaming, and refusing to move forward. Of course it was a Sunday. After being referred to multiple mechanics, I decided to go with Leadfoot Linda's. I had it towed there on a Monday and told them my tale of woe about this vehicle. After having them look at it, it couldn't get much worse--the whole rear differential was so far gone, it couldn't even be repaired and had to be replaced. Not only that, there were multiple other issues (my own fault for not doing my due diligence having it looked at prior to purchasing!). The whole staff was incredible---and I believe I had spoken with or met with almost every member of the staff because of my extreme apprehension about car repairs in general. The whole team was knowledgeable, welcoming, helpful...so many more positive adjectives to list here. They took my poor, pathetic Jeep and worked magic. They spent two days finding the least expensive parts to put into it, and even performed work on it that it desperately needed, but I could not afford at the time. This in and of itself was amazing, but then, they worked through the week, and even came in on Saturday to finish up the repairs. They then drove it back to me. I have never dealt with such a caring and helpful team. If you are ever questioning where to bring your vehicle for maintenance and large repairs--Leadfoot Linda's is absolutely the place to go. read more
