Hot Chocolate Very good, needed a little sweeter asked for honey, chocolate here has higher chocolate content. French Onion Soup This is the real deal broth so rich. This was a challenge in culinary school. I can say this was the best French onion soup I had in France. Our server was very charming and provided great customer service. Le Vrai we just happened across on a Sunday morning after running. The staff were welcoming and friendly, one even asked where we had gone to run. The area has a lot of steep slopes so he said loudly that he was impressed. LOL The food was simple and good. Le Continental comes with croissant, French bread and eggs prepared any way. Came here for dinner before going to watch the show at Moulin Rouge. It's only about a 10min footwalk away. The setting was really lovely. Classic french bistro/brasserie style. Nicely decorated for the christmas time. Felt very warm and cosy. We had a reservation - which was good, the place was packed. Got a nice table and ordered some starters. Six oysters and a backed camembert with sliced truffles. The oysters were nice. Really tender, creamy. And very fresh. The camembert was amazing as well. Good quality cheese, nice load of truffles. Topped with nuts and honey. A great combination. For the mains we ordered the Boeuf bourguignon and the "Saucisse Maison" (homemade sausage) with mashed potatoes. The boeuf (beef) was great. So tender, you could cut it with a spoon. Rich, heavy and creamy bourguignon sauce. Good stuff. The sausage was ok. It probably had some offals in it - which I like this way. Taste-wise a good sausage. But it was just too dry sadly. We had a bottle of Rosé with from the Provence. Great wine for a good price. Provence always has tasty Rosé wines. The bus-boy was a friendly chap. Really took care of us nicely. But the other two service-staff could have been nicer and friendlier. Ok, it was busy and all. But compared to other restaurants it lacked a bit of friendliness. Paid about 150 Euros. Which is ok and fair enough for a night like this and a city like Paris. read more

Our server was so nice! As an American traveling to Paris for the first time, the ambiance of this restaurant was exquisite. The outside is beautiful, with all its flowers. Inside, the dim lights and table settings creates a wonderful ambiance for a late night dinner. My sisters, niece, and I ordered the asparagus risotto, seafood truffle, steak, thai chicken, and crepe with bananas and Nutella. Our server recommended a delicious wine and fruit beverage. I stumbled upon this place while I was in town for Moulin Rouge. The peonies outside caught my attention (they are my favorite flower - the owner did say they were cherry blossoms. They were not lol but I didn't correct her). We were seated immediately and our waitress was very kind. She explained the menu and was very honest in recommendations. I really appreciated that. The wine was really got that we deleted and the dishes were a good size. I preferred my moms salmon pasta over my truffle. The waitress did warn me about the taste but I made the choice to give it a go anyways. When in Paris right! I didn't hate it. The smell was just a little too strong for my liking. I was ready to write this place off as another tourist trap, but I was pleasantly-surprised to find the food and service to be better than expected. My friends and I came across le Vrai Paris by chance while in Montmartre, and we decided to have lunch here. It's a picturesque spot that really makes you feel like you're living the "Parisian dream." Menu options were fairly large, and I opted for the quinoa bowl with salmon. I was very surprised to find large portions, with a generous amount of sliced avocado on the side. Food tasted fresh, too. Prices are high, but that's the drawback to being in Paris (especially in a touristy spot like Montmartre). Service was friendly enough, even if we'd gone at rush hour. Ambience is the only reason for the star. The service is horrible. They had a deal for specials - $20 E for appetizer and plat, or plat and dessert. I ordered a lamb plat and desert. They brought out the appetizer dish special instead. I queried the waiter and he told me it was the lamb. It was not. They blamed me for ordering an appetizer and dessert, which I repeatedly stated I did not do, and tried to charge me the higher price, with a very shitty French attitude. I ended up eating what can only be described as dog shit, topped with a poached egg, and a nice pistachio dessert. DO NOT come to this place unless you speak French. Drinks are a bit expensive when you consider the exchange rate. Remember it is always best to speak some French even if it is to get a quick laugh. This place has been the worst food that we have had Paris so far. The waiter was super friendly, but the overall execution was absolutely horrible. 1. We order onion soup for appetizer that the waiter simply forgot to bring over. 2. For dinner we ordered two orders of piece de boeuf grillee (which is basically grilled steak). One of the steak entrees was a reasonable cut of meat and grilled OK. Unfortunately the waiter brought it over probably 10 minutes after it was cooked and it was cold, and not fun to eat. 3. The second steak entree was too tough and my son was only able to eat a little bit of it, in addition to the fact that it was cold as well. 4. We also ordered supreme poulet roti which was chicken with mashed potato. This entree was akin to the chicken entrees that you get in a hospital or on a plane. Absolutely no taste whatsoever. 5. For dessert we had tarte fine au pommes which an overpriced piece of apple pie, but at least we were able to finish it. 6. The final straw was the Cappuccino. We asked if they have Cappuccino. The waiter said "of course we do". The cappuccino that was brought over had the following problems: A) they did not have any coffee mugs instead they served it in a glass cup usually used for a shot of whiskey. So the glass was too hot and painful to hold. B) they made the Cappuccino by mixing instant coffee, dried milk and hot water. I could actually see the undesolved dried milk floating around in the cup. Could not drink it. 6. As other reviewers have mentioned, the waiter was trying to upsell throughout the meal. Stopped here after visiting Sacre Coeur because the outside was too cute not to stop. My friend and I were seated immediately but were not served for at least 30 Minutes. The server outside literally walked circles around us. We got to that point where we wanted to leave but had waited so long we felt stupid for getting up and leaving. When the server finally came we ordered breakfast and coffee. The food was definitely lacking in flavor and quality. My friends food and my crepe came out cold but we couldn't flag down the server after it was delivered to explain. We were so hungry we ate it, paid for our over priced food and left. this is a delicious little gem of a place. i ordered the lamb with garlic and mashed potatoes and the meat was so tender it was literally falling off the bone. i ate that dish so fast and i regret it because i loved it so much. the mashed potatoes were garlic and fluffy and divine. for dessert got the chocolate mousse and i would suggest sharing this because honestly i didn't need to eat the whole thing. i also probably didn't need to slurp down a cappuccino as well -- but whatever. also, yes the flowers on the outside of the building look pretty but if you rub the petals between your fingers you will find out that they're not real. don't do this. but i did. read more

Told us they took Amex. Ordered Champagne and cheese. Then told us they didn't take Amex. The reason was because we could only pay with Amex. A stupid scam for €2.5 card fee. Truly dicks. Literally had no money to pay them the money. No bank card for another week. Offered to pay them in 5 days and they refused any knowledge of any AmEx and to let me pay them. All choices were delicious. Vegetable risotto was perfect and the French onion soup was spot on. They would've received 5 stars but the server forgot to put in one of the entrees (Vegetarian Burger) and when it finally came up it had cheese on it. The server apologized and i waited. The weather was quite chilly on a January morning. We ordered the the brunch deal for €13,90. There was so much food that I couldn't finish it off. The menu includes, oj with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, croissant, baguette with butter and jam. The meal also includes two eggs, bacon, (I opted for smoked salmon), a pancake, yogurt, fruit and granola. My fiancé had the coffee and said it was the best coffee he has had. It was just incredible! I wasn't able to finish the entire meal, however it kept me full until about 10pm that night. Our waiter was really nice. He looked like the actor Lance Gross. Cutest brunch spot in the area! The ambiance super trendy and really gives you those Paris vibes. Our waiter was great and he knew English which was a plus for us. My friend ordered a glass of Rosé and I had the apple juice. There's a HUGE difference between USA apple juice and France apple juice. There's was so fresh, juicy and not too sweet. Or, if you prefer, to immerse yourself in a giant red fleecy blanket (courtesy of the management) after dark and watch the young and fashionable Parisians totter tipsily out of the bars and cafes along the Rue des Abbesses. While I learned the hard way to stay away from anything "de maison" on the menu, they have a decent French onion soup and their mojitos aren't half bad. When Beaujolais is in season, this place is a winner. Not even these guys can screw up Beaujolais. read more

Stopped by this place at around 7pm, thinking we'd get some drinks and dinner. We were standing on the side of of the restaurant looking at a menu posted on the wall, a waiter was nice enough to offer me and my girlfriend each a full menu to see all they had to offer. I thought this was a nice gesture so I decided to give the place a chance. Huge mistake. Ordered a couple drinks, wine for my girlfriend and a beer for me. The waiter (not the original waiter that offered us menus) made some comments in broken English I assumed he was joking around so I smiled and simply pointed at the menu for a beer, he said "white beer", I said sure. My girlfriend asked for a Bordeaux, which regardless of where one speaks English or French, Bordeaux should sound close enough. Waiter asked in English "what is that?". Ok we pointed at the menu again. That just the tip of the iceberg, the service was inattentive. We asked for a second round of drinks and one of the suggested plates written on the wall "Moules Frites" I distinctly remembered the waiter pronouncing it back to me. Well one beer made it back out but not food. I asked for the bill from the head waiter who seemed to speak better English, 20 minutes went by nothing. Literally felt like I was being held hostage in this restaurant. In the meantime there were two young French gentlemen sitting to our right, they asked for their bill. The head waiter (same waiter I asked for my bill) came by gave them a hug and waived their bill (granted it looked like they had only ordered a couple glasses of wine since they had been working on their laptop the entire time). A French woman on our left had been sitting smoking and sipping on wine, she finished her wine and when she asked for the bill, her bill was also waived. Meantime over 20 minutes had passed nobody had come by to check on us nor bring the food we had ordered nor the bill. I finally stopped the head waiter (since nobody had bothered to check on us) and asked him for the bill, he immediately started apologizing realizing he hadn't brought our bill. I mentioned to him that our food order never came out either. He just kept apologizing. I normally don't write reviews but this place is so terrible I'm compelled to warn everyone else. This place was the worst service I've experienced in all of Europe. If you are not fluent in French forget this place. Any other restaurant in Montmartre is better. Tldr: dinner service was inattentive and took over 20 minutes just to get the bill. read more

C'est Bon! Wandered into here after a trip up the Funicular at Montmartre. First off, we loved the waitstaff so much and the Croques, we came back a second day in a row! We had this fantastic waiter who danced for us as he served our food and a really cool bartender as well. Food was good, drinks strong. I really do feel that when you are in Paris, what vibe you give out, you get back in return. Also, a little French goes a long way. We stopped by this place after an evening walking around the area. Interior is quite nice and there is a good atmosphere to the place. I selected the "package" meal deal that includes a starter, main and desert. The calamari starter was great as was the frogs legs my partner ordered. After about 30 minutes of waiting for our mains (and noticing other couples received theirs despite ordering after us, I enquired what was going on. 10 minutes later we received .... The starter dishes again. The manager apologised and told the waitstaff to give us a free drink, apparently they have a new chef who was to blame. It was about another 15-20 mins before our mains finally arrived. My partners lamb shank was exceptionally good. Pity the same could not be said about the beef kebabs I ordered. The meat was full of muscle or hard tissue that made cutting it with the knife provided impossible, as well as taking a long time for the teeth to chew it down to a manageable portion to swallow. The beef quality was terrible. After finishing as much of my main as possible, it took a further 30 minutes to get our desert.
