This was hands down one of my most favorite restaurants and experiences I had during my Europe trip. Frenchies is a wine bar with a number of tapas..think fusion. I was lucky enough to be seated in the first round of customers since I got there 15 minutes before seating. They do not have a reservation system and the wait can be a while after first seating since all the food come out one at a time for all groups. So think, if groups got a specific dish, they'd all get that dish and then the staff would work on the next one to serve, etc. The wine list is endless and there were so many options to try! Note: more bottles than single glasses but worth it considering the ambiance and conversations you can have! Staff is so patient and knowledgeable about the options and even let me try some before I made my decision! I tried 3 of the dishes available, the pork cheeks, the Agnolotti, and the Shrimp Toast. Everything was delicious and I still dream about that shrimp toast to this day. Wish I went with a group so we could try everything on the menu but this just means, I have to go again! read more

Since this spot doesn't take reservations, it's a good idea to go either right before open (there will be a line) or after the dinner rush. We were lucky to get a seat right at opening and were glad we did because the food was super tasty! We got the bacon scones (delishhhh), the squash tart and the shrimp toast (one of our favorite bites of our entire trip). It's moody and great for an intimate date night. The only downside was that we went during the Paris heat wave and it was sooo hot inside we were actually sweating during dinner. (So I recommend going on a cooler evening if you can!) read more

Their food is always tasty, innovative, and focused on seasonal ingredients. The service is friendly, all servers speak English, and they don't treat you as tourists! Just like their menu says - "Everything...I want to eat everything..." As most of you may know, lots of restaurants in Paris close on Sundays and/or Mondays, but they are open everyday from 6:30pm. Even though we had to wait about 30-45 minutes, Frenchie was absolutely worth it--especially with a few glasses of wine to pass the time! The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly, making the wait much more enjoyable. We tried the flatbread, stuffed squid, Thai eggplant salad, and mussels tagliolini, and everything was outstanding. Each dish was so flavorful, and I would highly recommend all of them. The banoffee dessert was the perfect ending to the meal--light, with a subtle banana flavor and velvety cream that was simply delicious. We walked in around 7:30 (or I guess 19:30 more appropriately) and took the last spot inside. No A/C, it was real toasty this summer evening. Despite the heat, the experience here was great. We ordered pappardelle ragout, baked mackerel with oyster sauce, and a slice of basque cheesecake. The mackerel with oyster sauce was a totally unique dish to us, super creamy, great balance with lime and a buerre blanc sauce (?). I do wish the wine menu had a bit more info on the wine flavor profiles, but it's all French wine so there's no risk to enjoyment. Two glasses of wine, two entrees, one dessert was about 85 euro. The ambiance and host are a 10/10! I love the cozy and fun environment that it provides. The food is absolutely delicious and I would love to go again. It seems like the menu changes as well which is great. We understand we're Americans visiting Paris, but this was the only place on our entire trip where we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Hands down one of our favorite meals that we enjoyed in Paris. We came around 30 minutes after opening and there was already a line to dine. They offered us chairs and a wine menu while we waited outside. We did have to wait a while, but we didn't mind. Cannot make reservations here. The interior was cozy, intimate and served the best mood for a romantic date night. They have hooks on the walls for purses, coats, and shopping bags due to the tight seating and the hooks are close enough that you can keep an eye on your belongings. We sat at a table that seated 4, but still felt like it was an intimate experience despite the couple sitting next to us. We shared several plates and each one was as delicious as the next. There is a rotating menu and chefs, so you'll always be surprised with the menu items when you dine here. The waitresses do speak English! This spot delivered on all my expectations about Frenchie (the restaurant). We were just looking to grab a quick drink. It turned into a bottle and a few other tastes (bites and glasses), largely because of how affordable it was and how knowledgeable the staff was. I very much appreciated that the staff spoke English. They weren't snobby about whether or not we spoke any French but they were very kind and courteous. The spot is a bit small so you'll likely have a wait (worth it) and share a table with others (we were seated on one end of a table, and another group took the other two seats). The location is popular with tourists, and the food was okay. It is mostly deep fried and greasy, more like pub food presented in a French style than anything particularly memorable. Service was what you would expect in a touristy part of Paris, not especially warm, but not terrible either. However, one server in particular seemed to be on a power trip, seating people she appeared to favor rather than following the actual waitlist order. It felt disorganized at best and borderline discriminatory at worst. The restaurant does not take reservations. While you can leave your name, they won't take your phone number, so you're expected to stand around and order a drink while waiting for a table to open up. It's also worth noting that a service charge is already included in the bill, yet they still prompt you to tip again with preset options (10%, 15%, 20%), which feels a bit pushy. Frenchie (the bar) did not disappoint! We arrived twenty minutes early on a weekday night, and yet we were still about tenth in line to get in when it opened. We were seated immediately at a table. The inside is tiny, and many of the tables are shared, so expect things to be loud, cramped, and for you to be sitting next to strangers. But that's all part of the charm! There's a ton of fun and lively energy while you drink and eat. The wine list was (as to be expected) completely on-point. There were some thoughtful and careful choices, and we liked every wine we picked. The limited tapas menu turned out to be an amazing pairing to the wine, with a mix of light and fresh foods (oysters) with heaver comfort foods (bacon biscuits). We went after eating and drinking at another brasserie, so we weren't that hungry, but there's enough food on the menu to make a meal of it if you came looking for dinner. Service was actually rather fast and attentive for Paris, so they'll keep the wine and food coming quickly. Overall, I would 100% go back to Frenchie next time I'm in the city. This is a review of the bar/ French "small plates" place ( tapas?). There is a full service restaurant associated with this concept in addition to a separate take-out place. This place is rather small, congested, hot, and the outside seating in a dank , smelly alley lined with garbage bins when we were there. Across the street, the restaurant proper is spacious , quiet, and not-crowded....but reservations are definitely required. We walked into the bar-a-vins and were promptly seated at a shared table almost rubbing elbows with another couple. So, for those suffering from claustrophobia, Covid-19, or monkey-pox fears, this is not your place. It can also get very loud. The food concepts are clever, well executed, and with great service. By great, I don't mean fast service by American standards. The staff is young, polished, but casual and elegant. The crowd is younger, hipper, well-dressed, and classy. We had a few dishes inclusive of their version of deviled eggs (oeuf mayonnaise) , a country terrine topped with picked mustard seed ( which was served a tad too cold), and a pappardelle pasta. The eggs and terrine portions were generous given it's a "small-plates" place. However, the pappardelle pasta was essentially three, short ribbons of pasta, but topped with shredded lamb. The dish was very delicious but very skimpy for the price. We filled up by sopping up the sauce with the bread provided. This is not a place to expect a full dinner. The food is delicious, creative, but it's too hot, too loud, and too crowded to linger for too long. It also does help to speak some French, but there are menus in English . Yes, it's crowded & yes, you should come early... but honestly the wait was not terrible when we visited. We arrived around 8pm, snagged a spot at the bar and had a glass of wine while we waited for our actual table. It was worth every minute of waiting. The Tagliolini alone is worth the wait! Fantastic selection of wines, and all of our servers were ridiculously friendly. We chose to go here instead of Frenchie across the street, as I'm not as big of a meat eater as my husband (fixed-menus can be hit or miss for me!), and he was still thrilled with all of the options at this location. After reading reviews we tried to visit this establishment very excited. We ordered a 20 minute Uber ride. we were told it would be an hour to an hour and a half wait. After two glasses of wine and two hours we started to wonder why we were not seated yet. We saw a table of two get up so we asked if we could Be seated there. My stepmom found this place after researching some highly reviewed restaurants in Paris. We visited in December of 2016 and boy was this place lovely. Word to the wise, it can get very crowded and busy fast. Recommend making a reservation if possible. The first night we went it was right before the world premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Our schedule was tight for dinner and the tables were all taken. The hostess, Megan, was able to secure us a table to that we could eat and then run to the movie at Le Grand Rex. All in all, delightful evening with delicious wine and some of most amazing pasta I have ever had. We came back a second night because the food was so amazing and even got the most magnificent dessert. Megan was kind enough to run across the street to procure the dessert from the Frenchie Restaurant that evening as we were not as keen on the selections at Bar a Vins. For a caribbean, new yorker this was definitely different. First off, if you're planning to come with a few friends come as soon as they open, it gets packed. Our wait time was half an hour. It was also extremely crowded but worth it. The food was pretty pricey and not enough big portions but the flavors were so delightful that I couldnt get enough. The asparagus was my favorite with an egg sauce and kimchi flavored aloi, I believe. It was pretty amazing in texture and tasted very great. The pastries filled with duck were my other favorite because the crust was flaky enough and the duck well seasoned. The sweetbreads chicken wasnt as great as I imaged it would taste. The sweet bread was great, the chicken was a little too plain for my tastebuds. In terms of presentation and a feeling of french cuisine this is definitely the place to try. I definitely give it a 4 star for that. For ambience it was a neat small place, pretty crowded but homey enough. For price, I dont think it was worth it for the portion sizes. All the other reviews I got here at 7pm, a little worried I would have an hour wait (they open at 630) but I was lucky. There were probably 4 open seats left. By the time I left at 8, there was a line outside. It's community seating so I was seated next to a lovely couple. My waiter spoke English and made some recommendations. I had the lamb pita, gnocchiette with peas; and scotch egg. It was all so fresh - I honestly could have had one of everything on the menu. For 2 glasses of wine & food, my meal was less than 60€ which felt like a steal. The music was amazing (90s hip hop). I could see the chefs from my seat & the chef from Frenchie (across the way) popped in & out. I probably could have hung out all night but I felt bad for the line. tourist trap in a really bad way. very shady staff. You don't tip in france ( a couple euros if exceptional service). Servers make a livable wage, have paid health care etc. This was the only place in paris we visited that had an American card reader that asked for tip ( as it does in US). This wasn't the worst of it. The waiter casually stated we could leave a tip on the reader. Waiters do not ask for tips in France. It isn't culturally acceptable. The waitress also charged us for two glasses of the most expensive wine and we had to return the next day to ask for it to be refunded. She then counted the smallest change out to refund us, it felt like an intentional insult. We were polite the entire time, never accusatory or angry. It was a disappointment and this place is taking ad of American tipping culture and the staff is very condescending and rude. I would suggest avoiding this place. The wine bar around the corner is truly french and we had a very positive experience there. Avoid Frenchie particularly if you're American. read more

A well deserved 5-stars. This place is definitely in my top three must eats in Paris. Frenchie Wine Bar is across from Frenchie the Restaurant. It's located in The Marais and was a very smaller hyperlocal spot. It's very small so would be great with 1 or 2 people max. The food was INCREDIBLE. I kept saying with each bite, this is the best food we've had thus far (and we ate a lot). The plates are small and beautifully assembled. The menu is small and we ordered just about everything. I'm assuming the menu is seasonal. The asparagus with egg was out of this world. It was in a green Dijon something MAGIC sauce and as soon as you cracked that egg, oh baby. The basil seasonal on top with crispy which I had never had. The combination of flavors was just mind blowing. Perfect dish for dipping their rustic wheat french bread. The gnocchi was fabulous, sitting in a green pesto and artichoke purée. Grilled pieces of artichoke hearts and green onion made the perfect pairing. The veal was insane as well as the parpadelle pasta dish. The wine was amazing. Limited bottles each night with a new selection from curated organic French vineyards. This is probably one of the BEST restaurants in all of Paris. The food is OUTSTANDING! Seriously so delicious. The wine is also great and most importantly the staff is so kind and warm. Yes you will have to wait for a table but I.T is very worth I.T. While you wait you can drink by the bar. I would not recommend coming here with a big group of people. But I.T is perfect for a date! The ambiance is intimate and romantic. I also really enjoyed the music they were playing. I.T was American but super cool and chill. I can't wait to come back here and eat when I am in Paris again! The avocado cheese dish was DELICIOUS! The combination of different flavors came together and created an amazing dish. The truffle pasta was unreal. Like literally AMAZING. The desserts were also incredible - we were so full at the end but forced ourselves to try a couple and were thrilled we did. On top of the amazing food was the exceptional service we received. He was super patient with wine recommendations and even took the time to give us the background on each bottle he selected for us.
