The perfect place for a romantic date in Paris! This iconic restaurant is located I side the Gare de Lyon (train station)! You'd never guess how beautiful it is inside based on the location. Majestic atmosphere and impeccable service. My fiancé and I had the most wonderful time. We made reservations well in advance and choose to dine in for lunch. I highly recommend the lamb that is served table side. read more

Le Train Bleu - Catch of the day and roasted lamb leg - French Near Me - Paris, 75

Food was ok. Space is stunning. Service was good. Overall a decent dining experience but not exceptional for Paris.

Visited Le Train Bleu while in Paris on a business trip with my work colleagues. We were treated to a set menu which was lovely. I had to politely request a fish option as I don't eat meat these days and luckily our waiter obliged (I ask ask en Francais - so perhaps that helped!). The restaurant itself is really beautiful, with fine works of all adorning the ceilings and the walls - just stunning! Randomly during dinner the doorman rather unexpectedly broke out into full opera singing which was a delightful surprise. The wine pairings with dinner were great. Champagne to start our first course, then a crisp white wine, with a juicy red to finish - perfect. For our starter, we enjoyed a tasty fresh crab salad with cucumber. For our mains, I asked for fish so was served a plate with a white fish on it which I assumed to be turbot - delicious. The next course was a delicious blue cheese with fresh salad which was lovely and refreshing. For dessert, we were treated to a gorgeous millefuille. I didn't think I could eat anymore but somehow managed to eat the whole thing! Would recommend coming to visit when in Paris! read more

I loved my experience at Le Train Bleu. I ordered the tasting menu. Where someone cuts a prime rib in front of you and serves it to you fresh. They also have a potato casserole and a salad for starters. The service was a bit slow, but the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. read more

This is a restaurant with a nice interior that caters mostly to tourists. You will see people in jeans and t-shirts or talking on their phones, and loads of folks walking around taking photos. Food is ok but the food in Paris is good everywhere. The service is inattentive to the point of being ignored like the stereotype. If you want to check it out, go for desert or a drink in the bar, but save your Paris fine dining for another restaurant. read more

Literally the worst restaurant we have been to in Paris in almost 40 years. To put it in perspective, this trip we ate at Voltaire, Paul Bert, Camille, Jean Imbert and some charming little bistros. They were all superb. We love food and this is why Le Train Bleu was such a colossal disappointment. Let's start with the entry to the restaurant. You have to walk through a dirty train station in a busy, crowded area. The stairs up are littered with people waiting for their train with shoes off and bags everywhere. The stairs are unswept and the walls are wrapped in some kind of weird plastic. Perhaps it will undergo a renovation? No idea because it did not say. The restaurant itself is like a faded beauty that might be nice if it underwent a major face-lift. It is tired and musty. There was actually a weird smell that permeated the air and dampened our appetite. We sat down and it took about 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, so we tried to flag someone down for another 5 minutes before we could order our drink. The food was just not good and the service was horrible, although the individual people waiting on us were quite nice. It took forever to get our appetizer and then they just sat there for 1/2 hour and was only cleared just as our food arrived. I had the lobster ravioli and it was literally inedible. Also, there was no lobster as advertised (although my waiter insisted it was there, somewhere, at the bottom - but that was after I had it taken away). Just severely overcooked pasta in a murky brandy(?) sauce that tasted like old fish. My husband said his lamb carved table-side was not bad. And the bread was pretty good. I did the American thing and asked for butter, and that took another 10 minutes (she forgot the 1st time I asked). Anyway, I do feel a little badly about writing, but I don't want anyone else to waste a precious evening in Paris at this restaurant! read more

A total fail. After a wonderful greeting by a fully uniformed porter we were shown to a table, which was OK, but on an aisle, even though there were plenty of other tables available. Then after being ignored for 30 minutes we were able to order. After 90 minutes we finally received our first course, which we sent back. It was a disgusting presentation of foie gras that was fatty and stringy. After that we called it quits. After a complete fail they had the audacity to charge us for the 2 cocktails. The location is beautiful but do not be fooled by the highly colorized Pinterest pictures. The ceiling paintings are much more muted and less elegant. It is located in a train station....which could add a level of panache, but instead requires a confusing walk through a terminal Al filled with cigarette smoke and people with other places to be. Overall, it's a has-been holding onto a far more glorious past. read more

Disgusting food. I ordered the cod and it smelled like fecal matter, I couldn't even take a bite. I told the waiter to please take it away. He said " even though it smells bad, you must pay". So I paid 50 euro just for that horrible food. This place is a total gimmick. We drove 30 minutes from our hotel. So not worth it, just watch a YouTube video if you want to see the inside. Not worth even one euro. Also extremely rude staff, bumped into us with plates multiple times and didn't apologize for anything. They even hit my wife with a bottle in the head! I'm still in shock. read more

Came here because we heard that the place looks magnificent. The interior definitely did not disappoint!!! We asked our server what the history is behind this place. Due to language barriers, she smiled and came back with a booklet in English explaining the different paintings and history of the place. How convenient! The paintings are views of the what you would see travelling on a train during the 20th century by famous artists of the time. We only stayed in the bar area and tried the three beers they have on tap. They give you a small dish of olives in the bar area. I have to say, great thought must have been put curating these beers because each beer tasted so differently, with my favourite being the sweet one. Service was attentive, you don't have to go looking for your server. Washroom is in the back after a long hallway. The view in the washroom are the trains. It was very nice, gave me a nostalgic feeling as if this must be what it feels like back in the day when you stop over this restaurant after a long train ride. Rating based on service, interior and selection of beers. read more

I'd heard about this very special restaurant for along time. It is a very historic and opulent restaurant. I planned a trip to Paris for Christmas 2024 and made my reservation 3 months in advance. I was extremely excited about eating there. My friend and I walked into the restaurant and it is beyond gorgeous. We went to the front desk and were given menus and wine list and we were seated right away. I realized that there was only one menu and 2 wine lists. I tried to make eye contact with a waiter but had no luck. After a few minutes I went to the desk and asked for an additional menu and was given one. The waiter asked if we wanted a drink and we each ordered a glass of wine. The waiter asked if we wanted flat water or with gas and we ordered flat. We thought it would be regular water in a carafe but it was a bottle of Evian. We let it go, no big deal. Then we waited for bread....no bread. I tried making eye contact and finally asked a busboy for bread, it was brought but no butter. This was taking a long time and it became obvious that we were being ignored. I ordered a beef dish and a salad, I requested the salad first and my friend only ordered the leg of lamb. Both entrees came with vegetables. The waiter brought my beef and I told him that I had requested the salad first and he insisted that I hadn't. So he snatched away my beef dish and brought my salad and it was pretty obvious that things were going downhill. I went to the front desk and asked for the manager. He was rude and took no responsibility for anything. I said we were read to go. They brought us a check for $78 euros which was the wine, water and salad. Meanwhile my friend never was served. We paid and went to a nearby restaurant and had a delicious meal and a great experience. I can understand how this restaurant lost its Michelin star. Sometimes there is confusion because of a language barrier and that is understandable. I've never been treated like this in any fine dining establishment. Every other dining experience was stellar. I love Paris and hopefully will go back. I won't go to "Le Train WRECK Bleu" ever again. read more

Had to take the opportunity to dine at this historical location with formal service The Train Bleu fixed menu: - Amuse bouche, I can't recall what it was -Foie gras was solid texture, had to cut into it. had a savory flavor that reminded me of Napa -I'm a fan of raw scallops, the wafer thin chestnut crisp was a nice touch -Tender Monkfish with a delicious complex heat in the curry -Granita has some liquer poured into it table side, the alcohol was a bit strong. That yellow crème in it was a nice addition, it didn't melt -the veal was very tough and the sauce was too salty to eat, disappointed -Wasn't a fan of the cheese selection -Had a long wait until dessert, which saved the meal with some combination of smooth and grainy textures and green apple presented in the purée vs tiny bites in the silky rolls read more

Bof!

The two stars are for the beauty of the building. Service is unacceptable. We had a reservation, arrived and were put at this tiny cocktail table. Our intention was to order the full breakfast which would have been impossible with this seating. They had MANY open tables but chose not to seat us there. We had a cup of coffee and were out. Sad because this is a beautiful place. Maybe hire some experienced staff who understand customer service?!? read more

We had breakfast here and my regret was we didn't take Dinner here. The place oozes art and its decor is something to enjoy. The breakfast was basic and I also think the area you are seated in will again either enhance or detract. I expected more from breakfast that is clearly targeted for turnover as opposed to produce. I would go back but for Dinner read more

Where to begin.....a few weeks before our trip to Paris I knew I needed to make reservations for a full week of dining drinking and getting lost in the city of light. After scouring the planet for any and all reviews within a reasonable price range I stumbled on this, The Blue Train. The review seemed positive, the pics....nice to look at and the location was posted as hard to find...all good in my book. What should have thrown me off is when making a reservation I never received a confirmation email or text. Now...we live in a world where emails are free and texting is just a given. After 24 hours and hearing zero from the restaurant I had to reach out and verbally confirm....what is this 1993? Two phone calls later we were finally set for dinner at 845pm. Not too late and certainly not too early for dinner, why do I mention this? I'll get to that later. After arriving somewhat close to the place, my Uber driver had no idea where to leave us so he dropped us off at the train station. I guess he thought we were going to catch a train with my girl in a cocktail dress and me in a two piece suit.....We found the entrance up these winding stairs which looked very European and realized this was just the entrance to the station not the restaurant...that's another flight up. Any way all that said.. We sat down looking forward to an amazing meal coming off our first night where the food was outstanding (7 course meal with matching wine). I noticed right away that this was not our demographic and I felt I was sitting at The Tavern on the Green in Central Park on a Sunday night. A definite older crowd more suitable to retirees. That aside our drink orders were taken and dove into the menu. I landed on the the lamb and my girl the duck. I noticed there was a young man walking around yelling out some facts about the artwork, now I get it...it's part of the restaurant, but how about maybe a pamphlet I can ask for. This was suppose to be a romantic night out with my girl and there's this dude walking around and yelling. Our food arrived somewhat soon and I knew something was off. Lamb, yes you can prepare it before hand and heat it up, not that I suggest doing that, but I know duck can be seared quickly but what I saw on our plates was nothing I expected. Our meals were cold and I knew it right away. Both meals lacked flavor and the only thing that was remotely warm was the side dish of potatoes. I'm getting tired of writing this review... One duck one lamb a couple of drinks and a side, $235. What a waste of money. Maybe go here for drinks but keep in mind there's a dude walking around yelling out art facts.... read more

In a gorgeous setting with painted ceilings inside a train station, as a starter I enjoyed excellent tableside-prepared mlld Beef Tartare with capers, raw egg, onion, and Dijon Mustard. A mixed salad with Radiccio and mixed Greens was graced with an excellent light lemony Vinaigrette Dressing. Complimentary fresh-baked baguettes, along with country bread and butter, were very good. An entree of Heart of Filet of Beef flambeed in Camus Cognac VS with Green Pepper Sauce was quite flavorful, served with very well-seasoned Pont Neuf Potatoes, and a few excellent Tarragon-flavored thin baby Green Beans. Diane was provided with special Meat Sauce for her filet, which was seared a little too much to the point of being sealed on top; otherwise her steak was medium rare as ordered. She enjoyed the Potato au Gratin that accompanied her entree. Dessert was an amazing assortment of diverse chocolate confections, including edible smears of chocolate on the platter. Service was attentive and very professional. A memorable meal in the heart of Paris! read more

The food here is OK but unmemorable; we had better meals in Paris at a similar price point, but I guess to some degree you're paying for the atmosphere. The space is really breathtaking. If you are into art, architecture, history, and/or trains, you will likely enjoy it. The service is also good. I don't know much about French wines, and our waiter suggested one for me that I really liked. He also dutifully prepared tableside a very sloppy-looking but nonetheless tasty crepes suzette. If it's possible to just have dessert and a digestif here, that might be the way to go, rather than a full dinner. read more

Michelin star my ass! This restaurant opened on 07 April 1901 and has been continuously operated since. m It is in the Gare de Lyon train station with regular and TGV trains arriving at the platforms. This was one of four places I had bookmarked and the only one to which I went. This was not a gastronomic trip to France but one where I ate where the menu and surroundings appealed ot me. Taking the Métro from my hotel here was easy with one switch in lines and I was at the Gare de Lyon in about 15 minutes from my hotel. Finding the Train Bleu was another thing altogether as I came out of the Métro not in the station itself but on a side street. A little Apple maps and I was soon at the restaurant. I did not have a reservation but things were fairly slow even though it was 6:30 PM. I had read the Yelp reviews and when I saw the lamb, I knew that would be my main course. I started with foie gras that was excellent. The lamb comes in a copper hooded cart and the server slices the leg in front of you and then serves you. On the side was a large container of scalloped potatoes with some cheese that was quite good. For dessert, I got simply what the menu referred to as layer cake. It was milhojas (thousand leaves) filled with mascarpone with caramel, stewed apples, and vanilla whipped cream. It was very good. Service was outstanding. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. When I asked a question about the restaurant, the server brought me a double sided sheet with the history of the restaurant and descriptions of the paintings, by whom they were painted, and other history of the restaurant. It's quite interesting to go to a train station for dinner but to have such elegant surroundings is amazing!!! This was a bookmark I was glad I was able to strike off my list and it's a place to which I'd return if there should be another Paris trip in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I found this spot from the highly rated reviews on Google. We were extremely excited to try this place on our last night in Paris. Once you enter the venue, you're in complete awe of beautiful artwork on the high ceilings and gold accented decor. It's like you're going to have dinner at the Louvre! You feel like you've found a hidden gem on top of the train station. :) I did a quick Yelp search to see what was recommended and chuckled at another gal's comment that she had a better steak at Outback Steakhouse (which is usually a one out of five stars experience if you're not familiar with the American chain). She was right. Besides the attentive waiter, everything was so disappointing. We got the following: Duck and duck foie gras pâté en croûte - 19€ - decent enough. Monkfish medallions 'a la plancha - 43€ - it came with four overcooked, small pieces the size of my fingers (maybe a tad longer than two inches?) on a bed of carrots. I had to salt and pepper this dish for a somewhat passable flavor. Roasted leg of lamb from our regions - 39€ - it was presented well with the waiter carving the lamb in front of us. And then you really had to use your imagination for the flavors. The roasted garlic and soy sauce weren't enough. The highlight of this dish was the potato gratin which was buttery and all you want in a starch. We dismissed the fact that we were paying 8€ for a bottle of still water and that the fancy glasses still had watermarks on them. We skipped dessert because we couldn't bear being disappointed again and paying a pretty penny for it. Overall, we recommend visiting the restaurant if you happen to be at Gare de Lyon and perhaps should grab a drink while you're there. Lunch or dinner? They missed the train on that. read more

I'm sorry to be one of the people who gives bad reviews on a high ranked restaurant but this is not worthy if it's stars. We went here for dinner and the place is nice but the food was not great at all. We ordered the chefs special, scallops in soy sauce and the beef rib for 2. The scallop has no flavor and the sauce was bland. The beef was too chewy, we had to really cut with my knives with full strength and the meat was so chewy. AND WHEN THEY WERE CUTTING, THEY DROPPED A PIECE OF STEAK THAT I PAID FOR AND DID NOT SAY ANYTHING....EVEN THOUGH WE STARED AT THE GUY AND JUST THREW IT AWAY...SO SORRY, NO NOTHING. I do not recommend coming here if you're looking for good food...only come for the view and experience. read more

I would not recommend this place at all. We had reservations booked in advance and were excited to give it go. Our walk in should have said it all when it was so hot, smelled of urine and looked like no one cleaned the stairs going up ever. We were sat promptly, but after that we were not get greeted or acknowledged at all within 25 minutes. Had to ask for water 2 times. Waiter then proceeded to give out water to surrounding tables and not ours. Then tables seated after ours were getting orders taken. We ended up just getting up and leaving as that was not what we expected from such an "amazing restaurant". We ended up trying out another spot and it ended up being an amazing dinner with great drinks for a fraction of the cost. read more
