Great food, wine and deserts . French onion soup with shredded cheese on top instead of traditional baked on top allowing easier to eat . Don't worry plenty of thick gooey cheese inside and onions . Got the daily special , found most French Restaurants are terrible to translate to English. So they described the main as "round fish" and desert as "peanuts" I almost didn't order but took a chance . Glad I did, the round fish turned out to be awesome scallops ! ( not fish ) And the peanuts was really pecan pie with homemade crust and whipped cream , very tasty . Good service and wine too. read more

Oh my goodness where to begin. Possibly the worst meal I've had in Europe, at least dinner wise. The view is quite nice. This might be a good place to have a drink but honestly that's about it. We had dinner here some of us getting salmon, some pasta, others chicken with potatoes. All of it was terrible. Even the onion soup tasted like someone emptied an ash tray into the soup. If this place wants to continue to exist it should stop serving food and only serve drinks. It's about all they can competently provide. The food is inedible. Service was slow and the servers seemed completely overwhelmed on a Friday. I hate to say it but Parisienne and tourists should let this place die so something else can come in its place and try to do better. I cook in my spare time for my family and friends and I was honestly offended by this food. read more

So we didn't eat any food here but we wanted to stop in and grab drinks on our last night in town because of the stunning views. This stop was great for people watching and the server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks we had were also very good, and it was the perfect way to end our Paris trip. read more

Just a hop, skip and a jump from Sacre Coeur you will find this restaurant, built into the hill of Montmartre and also featuring a patio in the square in front. We stopped in here before visiting the cathedral and went inside, as it was the first warm day in Paris and the patio was bustling. We were the only table inside at the beginning, until other people decided not to wait and come in too. First thing I saw on the outdoor menu before going in was steak tartare, which is the one dish I must eat every time I come to France. So it sealed the deal and in we went. One of my friends ordered an appetizer, which was a sort of fish salad, extremely delicious. He also ordered a pasta dish, which we thought odd, and my other friend ordered a cheeseburger with gapron cheese on it - look it up. He said it was delicious. My tartare was equally so, and they both came with some oven baked baby potatoes with baked garlic, so good. The ambience inside was nice too, just watch your head down the narrow and low ceilinged stairs. Be tough to work there on the multi levels. Prices were pretty reasonable for such a perfect location, frequented by many tourists, but also locals. My friends, who live in Paris, said they'd be back if in the area and would recommend it to others. read more

This is definitely one of those picture perfect cafe terraces in Montmartre, just a few steps away from where Degas and Renoir slept during their early days in Paris. Prices aren't a rip off for the location, either. read more

Extremely slow service and undercooked food. I came here for New Year's Eve and maybe that was my first mistake. It was a packed house and the three servers seemed so unprepared and just slow with service. It took us about an hour to even get any bread which I had to ask for but the champagne and wine were flowing like that's all we needed to sustain ourselves that evening. (It definitely was not) after another half hour of waiting for food we finally got our first bite which was a pate crostini and salmon pancake. They were actually tasty but by that point our experience was ruined because we had to wait so long for food. Our next course was a scallop with cauliflower mash which was okay but again served about 2 hours after we had arrived. Our main course of duck and potatoes was the big letdown food wise because the duck barely had any seasoning and the potatoes were basically raw. The only redeeming aspect of the dish was the gravy which I could not get enough of maybe because I had 3 glasses of champagne or maybe because it was actually good. Either way I would not return to this restaurant and recommend you stay away especially if you are going on a holiday or special event evening. read more

We had the ravioli in chive cream sauce and the anchiove and vegetable tarte, both fantastic. Service was good considering how busy the patio was. Though all the outdoor seating was completely full upon arrival, the wait was very short and my friends and I enjoyed a very pleasant and speedy dinner. Perhaps not the most memorable meal we've had in Paris, but was nonetheless highly satisfactory. We ordered the chicken with morel mushrooms and fresh pasta and a salad with assorted meats and fois gras. The food came very quickly, though perhaps not piping hot. The chicken was tender and moist. The sauce that came with it looked at first overwhelming, but was really nice though the morels were a little scarce. The pasta was slightly overcooked. We were a bit skeptical based on previous reviews of the service, but this place came highly recommended by a tour guide and we figured we could deal with poor service for the view and food. We were richly rewarded, because our server was absolutely fantastic! Hands down the best service we had in Paris. So obviously the view is wonderful, but some seats are better than others, we lucked out with a table about center of the terrace so we had a near uninhibited view of Paris down the street. We both opted for the formula menu, which was really a bargain: champagne, entree, plat, dessert, and coffee for 34€. We decided to eat after already ordering drinks, so we were well wined and dined. I opted for the chef suggestions for both my entree and plat, starting with haddock, avocado salad, and mango salad and it was one of the most interesting and fantastic things I've had in a long time. The Haddock was perfectly cooked, and the seasoning in both the avocado and mango was beautifully balanced to make everything meld with each bite. My main course was salmon with a cream sauce (he described it as a "sea food sauce" but that isn't a good description) on a black rice risotto that had hints of orange. It was also a fantastic combination, the risotto was cooked a bit past al dente but the flavors and texture worked so well together that I'm not going to complain. For dessert I opted for the creme brûlée and it was the best restaurant version I've ever had. It was the perfect texture and balance of sweet with just that subtle hint of egg. My wife chose the gazpacho for her entree, and the chef teased more flavor out of those cold green tomatoes than either of us had ever had before. Her main course was half a roasted chicken and traditional risotto. The chicken was absolutely perfectly cooked, and her risotto also had a hint of orange zest buried under all the creamy textures. Her Brie plate for dessert was a bit small, but at that point there wasn't much room for more. I don't know if our service experience was an anomaly, but the food would have been well worth almost any level of service. read more

The atmosphere is great. It's a very cute, small place with a ton of outdoor seating, making it great for warm nights! The outdoor seating overlooks Paris, as it's on the top of a hill in Montmartre -- such a cool area. However, the food was sub-par. I ordered my steak medium-well and I got it pretty rare, which was unfortunate. I absolutely recommend visiting Montmartre, however I would bet there are better restaurants in the area. read more

The restaurant is small, intimate and located in Montmartre. The food flavor is well balanced, tasty and well cooked. Pricing is medium to high. We had dinner as follows: Starters 1. Terrine de foie gras and 2. Rouleau de saumon au chèvre frais for starters. Entrees 1. Escalope de veau gratinée au parmesan and 2. Steak and dauphinoise potatoes (The steak was cooked just right and was served with delicious butter) There was no room for desert, following the food and wine massacre. Two stars for the location and the view over Paris through one of Montmartre streets. Everything else sucks... Menu was very touristy, half of our pack took some dishes which were... boring. But what really caught my attention was the fact that waitress seemed very disappointed with me and my colleague ordering only... a bottle of wine! As mentioned half of our pack ordered meal. We were just thirsty so asked for the wine. The waitress first tried to convince us pretending she did misunderstood the order, then looked at us as we would have ordered 0.5€ snack and spend there 3 hours talking... This was really strange and felt unpleasant. I know few better places in this neighborhood so little chances I'll be back. read more

We spent our 4 year anniversary dining here and chose it based on its location on a quiet street with a nice view looking out toward Paris. I don't think I have a single complaint about this place. The servers were friendly and helpful, even with our language barrier... I think they also had some of the menu in English though we still went with the French one. They offered a prix fix menu for 31 Euro which worked out great for us. You start with a glass of champagne, a small plate, an entree, dessert, and a coffee at the end. The escargot were delicious, their presentation of food was really nice, and the creme brulee was amazing! The best way to serve it, really... in a large shallow dish! After dinner, its a nice short walk up to the Sacre Coeur to finish off the evening with an even more amazing view. read more

This is a great restaurant for a quiet meal. Everything I heard about french wait staff was undone here. They couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The pricing was reasonable and the food was quite nice. I've eaten here with my husband and with my husband and grandmother...it was both romantic and comfortable. On a side note, my grandmother is 92 and has trouble walking. We brought her over to Europe for a visit and surprised her with a trip to Paris. Anyway, while the lighting is dim, and she had to watch her step, this restaurant was totally accessible to her. Again, the wait staff was very patient with her, explaining the menu items in English and helping her navigate through to her seat. It isn't a huge restaurant, so it may not be appropriate for children. After dinner, a quick walk up the hill takes you to Montmantre....the view is amazing outside of the restaurant and as you travel through the streets. A couple can have a reasonably priced and romantic evening in the heart of Paris. read more

What truly recommends this place is the view. It sits just below Montmartre Butte at the top a a hilly street. Just above it is Place Emile Godeau, where at any moment any number of street musicians can be performing. When I was here, a Brazilian Capoeira troupe ended up jamming with a traditional accordionist then two folk musicians joined in, it turned into a full on street party that went on until 2 AM and even as I walked away two young, charmingly drunk parisian girls were playing acoustic guitar and singing love songs to the moon.... Super memorable night. But I digress, Le Relais de la Butte has an outdoor seating area that is second to none. Even if there appears to be a line, you will be seated at a table within 20 minutes and never feel rushed. The food is well done, fresh, standard Parisian bistro fare. The salads great, the fish i ordered was cooked to perfection. And their espresso satisfied my coffee snob sensibility. Amazing view and ambiance, mixed experience with service. I've been staying just down the street, so I've come here four or five times. First - the view is one of the best in Paris. Worth it for that alone. Once, at 11pm, just off the plane, hungry and with kids - the server was super nice, told us to order quickly before the kitchen closed. We got ravioli which was just fine. I was just delighted to be able to eat something that late. Once, for breakfast/brunch. The servers didn't seem to really want to bother with me. Food was fine - you can't really screw up scrambled eggs, croissant, and baguette with butter and jam. (I'd go to this place for breakfast instead of the places on the street down the hill, because the prices are similar and the view is better here) Once, just for a glass of champagne, to take in the view. Had the friendly server again, he is great. The champagne is served in a regular wine glass, not a flute or a coupe, and it's 12 euros for not a full glass. You're really paying for the view and the ambiance, which are worth it. read more

Great outdoor location, huge actually and has excellent views of the city, quiet close to Sacre Couer, I only had coffee and given how I have lowered the expectations of coffee in Europe, this wasn't too bad (it was about 5 euros). Pretty crowded as of 1045pm on a Monday night! Huge outdoor seating area. Located close to the Sacre Couer and offers a view of city lights. I ate a simple pasta du jour and a cheese plate. The cheese was a cantal, and served with salad with tartar dressing, and walnuts. Eating these the cheese, salad, and walnuts together was simply delicious. The pasta was so-so, but deeply filling. The waiter would drop by on a regular basis to drop off some bread as soon as I had finished my bread basket. The only negative I have is that there are an inordinate number of smokers outside. I was surrounded on either side by smokers blowing smoke in my direction. If I wasn't so close to these smokers, my experience may have been better. But as far as the food and service goes, no complaints there. read more

Pour agrémenter le tout, le service est mal organisé (45 min pour être servi) et douteux ("Si Monsieur, on vous a rendu la monnaie").
