You make a separate reservation and then enter through a black door and green curtain. Service is phenomenal. The bartenders and weight staff, as well as manager, all greet and serve you. They are extremely knowledgeable, and I love their forward thinking. They only use local ingredients for their drinks. If it doesn't grow in Canada or Quebec, they do not use it. So they do not use things like citrus. Instead, they come up with other ways to bring the flavor into their cocktails and food. And definitely try some food! We went for the drinks, but the food blew our minds. We got some mixed tapa plates and loved it all- especially the homemade beef jerky. The back patio is so nice during the summer. That means, no basic ingredients like citrus are used. That's basically telling the bartender they cannot make 99% of cocktails in mind and have to take risks to make something tasty happen. Opened in 2024 by the team behind Quebec City's only 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Taniere, this is now the spot to be for those in the know. So, how is trial and error going of crafting something genuinely Canadian? Cocktails are superb on both taste and presentation. The food is remarkably plated with extremely high quality ingredients. Everything tastes excellent. If that's not enough, the entire interior looks like a very private club and the team of servers and bartenders is superb and welcoming.

One lady in lower town took special delight in telling me "sorry, we're all full tonight", while I stood there with numb fingers and a raw red face where hail hit my face moments before. I passed Alphonse many times the last few days but tonight, instead of just passing through, i stopped in to look inside as another customer held open the door waiting for me to enter as he exited. So naturally, I went in. I was afraid they were about to close, but the hostess was welcoming and with a warm smile, showed us to our seats. The food was so good! We ordered the French Onion soup. My kids loved that the bread in the soup was still crunchy and not soggy. The baked Brie was a delicious start of what is to come next. My entree was the low temperature salmon. It was the chef's special (they call it inspiration of the chef). It was a salmon dish that is lukewarm. The salmon was so tender, it melted like butter in my mouth. It was a decent portion too. We got dessert to share- crème brûlée- also good! Ambience is smart casual.

I took the few steps up to the front desk where a host told me that the bar was first-come, first-serve, but that I could look for a spot. Thankfully, there was a stool open right in the middle, so I hopped up and made myself comfortable. The friendly server greeted me with a smile and handed me their vast menu, which included breakfast served until 2:00 pm, which sounded great to me at that moment. I started with a regular coffee, which was surprisingly bold and gave me the wake-up jolt that I needed to make it through another afternoon excursion and a busy evening. For my meal, I ordered the "Les deux œufs", which meant two eggs prepared however I wanted. I opted for scrambled egg whites, and despite forgetting to ask for them more on the well-done side, they were delivered as such. The fluffy whites were also very well-seasoned and flavorful. They were served with roasted Yukon Gold potatoes, which had been coated in an oil that had been infused with fresh garlic and parsley. They were definitely on the greasy side, but were otherwise fantastic. I also had the option to select some sort of breakfast meat or fruit, so I went with the latter, which turned out to be fresh blueberries and strawberries that were kissed with sweetness. Lastly, the accompanying toast was from a real artisan loaf, not a package. It was, honestly, all delicious. Plus, they managed to have all of the food out to me within thirty minutes, even with the crowd and without me asking for a rushed order. I just wished La Buchette was a little closer to home!

Nothing will come close to comparing! We heard good things about the hot chocolate here and wanted to check it out for ourselves after being out in the cold all day. We chose the spiced hot chocolate, as recommended by our server. It was absolutely delicious-- rich, flavorful, creamy, and everything that a hot chocolate should be. Although the price was a bit steep, we had enough for 4 small cups and it came with two scones and whipped cream on the side. We also got two "biscuits", which we thought were going to literal biscuits, but ended up being small pastries which were both tasty! We were lucky enough to snag the seats right next to the fireplace which ended up being the perfect way to spend an hour hanging out. We ended up coming back for a light dinner the same day and also really enjoyed our time. There was a live pianist performing which really elevated the dining experience. We started things off with some oysters, which honestly were some of the best I've had in a very long time. The dipping sauce was a bit strange and untraditional for me, but it was perfect with just a bit of lemon juice. We also got a burger to share, and when they accidentally brought out a side salad instead of the fries we requested, they let us keep the salad and brought a huge entire order of truffle fries for us (!!!) Canadians really have some of the best fries too because these were perfectly crispy and honestly didn't even need dipping sauce. The burger also didn't disappoint and was savory goodness. I wish we tried this place sooner! Would highly recommend, even if you're not staying at the hotel itself.
