Pisco de Rose

My wife and I were on our way to the Frontenac Hotel Bar while my in-laws were babysitting our 9 month old. Halfway up the hill, they called saying our daughter was inconsolable, so back to our hotel we go. After putting her to sleep, we decided to go downstairs to Bar Artefact. It's quite the cozy hotel bar, sunken below but adjacent to the hotel lobby. They share the same cocktail menu as Chez Muffy (hotel's restaurant), so we were familiar with it. The Lily Sour (gin), Pisco de Rose (rose) and Tulum (mezcal) were all delicious. They also have draft beer from a Montreal brewery. The IPA du Nord-Est was pretty good. The kitchen was closed by the time we were at the bar. But I imagine the food should be good, judging by the meal we had at Chez Muffy (assuming they share the same kitchen). The waitress was kind enough to bring out some assorted nuts which paired well with the beer :). Overall a great hotel bar!

Staying in Quebec City old town at the St. Antoine, they have a marvelous bar where the bartenders are artists in concocting curious drinks I've only seen in Canada. Food is prepared by the chef team that provides astounding meals in the attached restaurant Chez Muffy. Well worth the visit if you're walking around the old city

Enjoyable. We sat next to fireplace and shared charcuterie board, bread & carrot butter and a few cocktails. Cocktails were good. Extensive list of drinks. Friendly service. Nice ambience. Charcuterie board had nice selection ( although cheeses were mostly soft). Carrot butter although had fancy set of ingredients didn't really make an impression.

Tapas style menu: really lively menu; enjoyed sharing the asparagus salad, beef flank steak & small charcuterie tray along w/ panna cotta for dessert. We also had wine & cider. Great atmosphere! Attentive & knowledgeable server.

Love this cozy, delicious spot! Stayed at the gorgeous Saint-Antoine Hotel and didn't want to leave for dinner. This spot has fireplaces galore, an incredible Gin and Tonic with locally-made gin and herbs, such a delicious butternut squash soup with pumpkin seeds, a plump, juicy steak with homemade French fries, and the best pecan-maple pie I've had. What more could you want? 5 stars!!!!

Good selection of spirts and wine. Nice service and the atmosphere was lovely. Prices a little high but overall a nice time. We got the gin drinks and tried a few styles. They added cucumbers, grapefruit and a few other things. It was in a nice big size glass and plenty of ice but they did use the measuring cup and I honestly felt like it wasn't to the top.

Clockwork orange ... it is delicious

Had drinks and apps at the bar and it was incredible. Would 100% go back there. All the cocktails we tried were just impressive.

Stoped in for a small late lunch. My daughter liked her sandwich but $25 for a club sandwich seemed exceedingly high.

That means, no basic ingredients like citrus are used. That's basically telling the bartender they cannot make 99% of cocktails in mind and have to take risks to make something tasty happen. That concept in itself is a recipe to create things that will be genuinely and authentically Canadian. In other words, experimentation at its finest. Opened in 2024 by the team behind Quebec City's only 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Taniere, this is now the spot to be for those in the know. So, how is trial and error going of crafting something genuinely Canadian? Cocktails are superb on both taste and presentation. The food is remarkably plated with extremely high quality ingredients. Everything tastes excellent. If that's not enough, the entire interior looks like a very private club and the team of servers and bartenders is superb and welcoming.

I also hadn't had a charcuterie board this trip yet, so splurged on one here. It came with three types of cheese, three types of meats, two types of pickled onions, traditional cucumber pickles, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, an onion puree, a mustard puree, and bread. First off, I appreciated they actually provided the appropriate bread-to-other ratio. I feel like normally you run out of bread while eating a board but I actually had bread leftover with this meal! The cheese and meat were good of course, but I want to make a special call out to the onion puree, which was like condensed French onion soup, and the cucumber pickles, which were some of the best pickles I've had because they tasted so fresh, like they had just been brined. All of this on a deck looking out towards the river. Stop by here after late afternoon cruise with Croisieres ML across the road to continue enjoying the river view! Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - limited street parking nearby - several complex mocktail options available. I wanted to try one so bad but I was too full for more!

With hail and…read moresnow hitting my face, my mission was to find a place for my family to eat when almost every place is either closed or full. One lady in lower town took special delight in telling me "sorry, we're all full tonight", while I stood there with numb fingers and a raw red face where hail hit my face moments before. I passed Alphonse many times the last few days but tonight, instead of just passing through, i stopped in to look inside as another customer held open the door waiting for me to enter as he exited. So naturally, I went in. I was afraid they were about to close, but the hostess was welcoming and with a warm smile, showed us to our seats. The food was so good! We ordered the French Onion soup. My kids loved that the bread in the soup was still crunchy and not soggy. The baked Brie was a delicious start of what is to come next. My entree was the low temperature salmon. It was the chef's special (they call it inspiration of the chef). It was a salmon dish that is lukewarm. The salmon was so tender, it melted like butter in my mouth. It was a decent portion too. We got dessert to share- crème brûlée- also good! Ambience is smart casual.

We decided on Alphonse because it was basically only one of a few restaurants that were still open. We sat outside on a balmy September night and watched the people go by. Melanie was our server and at first she seemed a little off-putting but she was awesome. Friendly and wasn't put off by the dad jokes the men in our party made. We got a range of dishes from pasta to nachos. I got the ham croquettes and they were delicious. The prices were reasonable, the service great and the setting was delightful.
