Raviolii
Maricel G.

Ravioli was delish. bœuf bourguignon, tomato salad. Ambiance is right on the main area near the Chateau. Service is excellent and plenty of tables where we were seated immediately. Tip: be prepared to wait at least 35 mins for the beef bourguignon. Every bite is worth the wait. Bon a petit!

Stumbled upon this place while walking around window shopping. Just wanted a little snack to bring back to the hotel. Picked the Linguine Bolognese. It's a very familiar dish so easy to compare. The staff that invited me in was very kind and asked me and my young kids to wait inside away from the cold. He took my order and returned very quickly with my dish. A tiny bit more salty than I'm used to but the kids loved it. Ate almost the entire thing, which is a feat foe them. Plenty of protein in the sauce which added to the flavor. I wanted to stop by again to try another dish but of course as it goes, I did not have time during my short stay in Quebec.

We liked it. We needed a place for lunch and planned on eating at 1640 Bistro next door. We arrived at 11:30 and they were serving breakfast only and it would have been another hour to serve lunch. We walked next door to La Buchette and they were serving both breakfast and lunch. Perfect! We got seated at a 2-top outside right away. Our server came by with water and menus right away. I ordered the French Onion Soup and my wife ordered the Breakfast Casserole. The food came out real fast. Less than 10 minutes. The presentation of my soup was unlike I've ever had. Two slices of bread with melted cheese were served on the side. I ended up placing one of them in my soup, then cutting it up. The soup had a decent flavor but it was only served somewhat warm - not hot. Not worth sending back, especially after I'd added the bread slice to it. I ate it all none the less. My wife's casserole was large. The over medium eggs were perfectly done. The casserole ingredients were layered, so it was a bit of a dig to find it all. The flavors were good. If there was a con, it would be there was too much sausage and not enough bacon. Service here was quite pleasant. We decided to order a coffee and soft drink after our meal to hang out here a bit longer before our bus tour started. We'd come back to La Buchette. In fact, tomorrow night, we have reservations for La Buche, a fine dining dinner restaurant within the same ownership group.

La Buchette is a "just ok" spot. It was New Year's Eve when I went, so really busy and we sat at the bar. Service was very good, but the food was a bit underwhelming. I had the burger with bacon and fries. It got the job done but I would rather have eaten at La Buche for a second time that day.

My friend and I stayed in Old Quebec area. We wandered around to look for a place to eat and found La Buchette (located within Hotel Aubuerge Place d'Armes). We loved it so much that we went back again to eat at La Buchette within the same trip. La Buchette is marketed as "Buvette Québécoise" or "Quebec Refreshment Bar". Their website notes the Cuisine / Type as "Regional - Canadian - French - Bistro - Wild Game - Breakfast - Buvette - Brunch - Great Selection of Cocktails". For Trip 1 (Dinner), I tried their Fish (Artic Char) and a Mezcal Espresso Cocktail. My friend and I shared desserts (Carrot Cake and Almond Croissant). For Trip 2 (Lunch), I tried their Lions Mane Mushroom Dish, Shrimp Wild Rice Salad, and some Red Wine. My friend and I shared a dessert (Chocolate & Maple Cookie). Definitely worth a visit. I loved the Artic Char and the Lions Mane Mushroom entrees. Note: La Buchette is marked as #133 out of #1441 Restaurants in Quebec City on TripAdvisor.

Beef Pot Pie

We arrived at this touristy restaurant around 4 pm and were limited to a reduced menu that was neither lunch nor dinner. If you don't like raw meat (steak tartare), there weren't many choices that were appealing either. I had the Grandma's Meatball, which was a dense, ground beef patty that seemed full of breading. It tastes okay, but the mashed potatoes and gravy were the items that provided some moisture and flavor. The peas as a side were okay, but nothing to crave again. The other dish we ordered was the beef pot pie. It was very disappointing and had ground beef in a mushy filling. The side salad was large but the dressing was tart. I don't recommend this place, at least not in the afternoon. Prices were high too.

Great spot and best food in town! Go and support them, their are a true gem! We visited with husband for a long weekend and I reserved this spot and definitely wasn't disappointed! They don't rush your food so be prepared to actually take your time!

If you are visiting Quebec, this restaurant is a must!! I tried the duck carpaccio (recommend by the waiter) and wow, I was so shocked by how DELICIOUS this was. Absolutely mind blown. I am back in the states and have been looking everywhere to find a place that sells this dish haha. Please order this dish, if will not disappoint. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. As an oyster enthusiast, I was very pleased. The beef tartare was also very fresh and amazing as expected. The salad that came with it was also very good. The service here was also excellent as my server gave great recommendations and explanations.

Oysters and beef tartare

Food was ok .. not bad but not great . Was expecting more with all the great reviews here. Oysters were ok not the best and they didn't come on ice. The beef tartare didn't really have lots of flavor and was pretty bland. The service was good though and the ambiance was nice. I think this place is mostly for tourists. Didn't feel a lot of love in the food

Quebec pie

In town from the states and wanted something "Quebec". We went here and were happy with our choice, the atmosphere and staff are inviting, and willing to explain the unique dishes. I got the Quebec pie, my friend got the deer tartare. Our appetizer was fois gras (duck liver). All were elegant and tasty. I was impress with the detail of the dishes. This is worth your time.

Omelette and potato

I just wanted to update my experience from this trip. The fish I had for dinner the other night was awful but after hearing about the breakfasts decided to give it another chance. The omelette was fantastic. Soft and filled with goat and delicious Hercule cheese. The potato cake was barely warm but good. Fruit crepes were good also.

Omelette and BLT. Yum!
Justin R.

There were a lot of places we visited in Quebec City but this was one of the top, with their sister company dinner place only being ahead slightly. The food was delicious and maybe the best BLT with egg sandwich ever. Omelette was ranked right behind that with the eggs being cooked perfectly, the 'potatoes' (hash brown to others), and toast with jam were both mouth watering and could have kept eating if there was more. No regrets coming here and the service was very good and friendliest in QC. 5 stars!!

casserole
Julie L.

Excellent! We walked over from Chateau Frontenac and it was fairly early like 7:15 am so we walked right in. My daughter got the BLT tartine. I have never had tomatoes confit and it really made the dish. Her dish won!. It was so so good. I can't wait to come back here. And the bacon was to die for! I ordered the casserole without sausage. It was good but not nearly as good as the tartine. We loved this place. The place is decorated so cute and eclectic. The ambiance feels like upscale casual. Really cute decor. The service staff were awesome and very friendly. Will definitely come back but we also want to try their larger restaurant for dinner, La Buche.

The food was not good and lacked flavor. The service was inconsistent. My husband's dish was completely cold.

That means, no basic ingredients like citrus are used. That's basically telling the bartender they cannot make 99% of cocktails in mind and have to take risks to make something tasty happen. That concept in itself is a recipe to create things that will be genuinely and authentically Canadian. In other words, experimentation at its finest. Opened in 2024 by the team behind Quebec City's only 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Taniere, this is now the spot to be for those in the know. So, how is trial and error going of crafting something genuinely Canadian? Cocktails are superb on both taste and presentation. The food is remarkably plated with extremely high quality ingredients. Everything tastes excellent. If that's not enough, the entire interior looks like a very private club and the team of servers and bartenders is superb and welcoming.

I also hadn't had a charcuterie board this trip yet, so splurged on one here. It came with three types of cheese, three types of meats, two types of pickled onions, traditional cucumber pickles, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, an onion puree, a mustard puree, and bread. First off, I appreciated they actually provided the appropriate bread-to-other ratio. I feel like normally you run out of bread while eating a board but I actually had bread leftover with this meal! The cheese and meat were good of course, but I want to make a special call out to the onion puree, which was like condensed French onion soup, and the cucumber pickles, which were some of the best pickles I've had because they tasted so fresh, like they had just been brined. All of this on a deck looking out towards the river. Stop by here after late afternoon cruise with Croisieres ML across the road to continue enjoying the river view! Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - limited street parking nearby - several complex mocktail options available. I wanted to try one so bad but I was too full for more!

One lady in lower town took special delight in telling me "sorry, we're all full tonight", while I stood there with numb fingers and a raw red face where hail hit my face moments before. I passed Alphonse many times the last few days but tonight, instead of just passing through, i stopped in to look inside as another customer held open the door waiting for me to enter as he exited. So naturally, I went in. I was afraid they were about to close, but the hostess was welcoming and with a warm smile, showed us to our seats. The food was so good! We ordered the French Onion soup. My kids loved that the bread in the soup was still crunchy and not soggy. The baked Brie was a delicious start of what is to come next. My entree was the low temperature salmon. It was the chef's special (they call it inspiration of the chef). It was a salmon dish that is lukewarm. The salmon was so tender, it melted like butter in my mouth. It was a decent portion too. We got dessert to share- crème brûlée- also good! Ambience is smart casual.

Nothing will come close to comparing! We heard good things about the hot chocolate here and wanted to check it out for ourselves after being out in the cold all day. We chose the spiced hot chocolate, as recommended by our server. It was absolutely delicious-- rich, flavorful, creamy, and everything that a hot chocolate should be. Although the price was a bit steep, we had enough for 4 small cups and it came with two scones and whipped cream on the side. We also got two "biscuits", which we thought were going to literal biscuits, but ended up being small pastries which were both tasty! We were lucky enough to snag the seats right next to the fireplace which ended up being the perfect way to spend an hour hanging out. We ended up coming back for a light dinner the same day and also really enjoyed our time. There was a live pianist performing which really elevated the dining experience. We started things off with some oysters, which honestly were some of the best I've had in a very long time. The dipping sauce was a bit strange and untraditional for me, but it was perfect with just a bit of lemon juice. We also got a burger to share, and when they accidentally brought out a side salad instead of the fries we requested, they let us keep the salad and brought a huge entire order of truffle fries for us (!!!) Canadians really have some of the best fries too because these were perfectly crispy and honestly didn't even need dipping sauce. The burger also didn't disappoint and was savory goodness. I wish we tried this place sooner! Would highly recommend, even if you're not staying at the hotel itself.
