Poutine la classique / Classic Poutine

We were on a one day tour of Quebec City and this place was recommended for excellent poutine. The staff were friendly yet slow. I'm no expert, however; having tried several poutines in my travels, this was my least favorite. First and foremost, there are no crispy delicious fries, they have a sort of smashed flavorless new potato nugget. The gravy is bland except for a heavy smattering of black pepper which lingers way after the meal. My daughter had the bulgogi style which she also felt was meh. Granted, we are from NYC and are spoiled by authentic Korean food. The drink I had was made with their own soda, it was good but very sweet. Perhaps their other food is good, but if you're looking for a great poutine, unfortunately this missed the mark for me. They do have squeaky cheese curds, I'll give them that.

Le Chic Shack serves poutine, burgers, drinks, etc., a pretty comprehensive snacks/quick bite joint. It has a great view of the Chateau Frontenac and you can enjoy people watching from the bar seating. Service was super fast and the staff was great. They have tables and bar seating, lots of space for a several large groups. The food was hot and had a decent variety. Their drinks and great though, never seen a mango soda before... it was awesome! We had (as a snack from walking around): - Mango Soda: highly recommended, mango puree - Le Classique: poutine on cubed potatoes Great place to take a break in the area. Will have to try try signature fries, breakfast/brunch options, and other house sodas in future.

Le Chic Shack is such a gem in Quebec City. It is easily one of the most unique menu's I've ever seen. It puts a creative spin on Canadian comfort food, and every detail feels thoughtful, from the ingredients to the presentation. I ordered the Le Chiquito, a perfectly cooked beef patty layered with cheddar and their house Chic sauce. It was simple but elevated. The kind of burger you could happily eat again and again. The signature fries were an absolute standout: golden and crispy, with just the right hit of truffle oil, shaved Parmesan, and fresh herbs. It's the kind of side dish you keep reaching for even when you're full. To drink, I tried their raspberry soda, which was refreshing and not overly sweet, and we also split a chocolate milkshake, which was rich, creamy, and indulgent in the best way. Between the cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and inventive takes on Canadian classics, Le Chic Shack is a must-visit!

Oh my gosh, Le Chic Shack was phenomenal! The food was amazing, and the prices were incredibly affordable, especially considering the huge portions. We ordered one large poutine to share between four of us, and it was more than enough--we were stuffed! Their poutine is unlike any other I've tried. Instead of regular fries, they use diced potatoes, which really elevates the dish. The cheese was perfect--so squeaky and exactly what you'd want from a proper poutine. The gravy tasted homemade, rich, savory, and absolutely delicious. Even though we didn't speak French, the staff was incredibly sweet, welcoming us with smiles and being polite throughout. They had other tempting options on the menu, but the portions were so big we couldn't try more this time. This was hands down the best poutine I had in Quebec--and I tried at least six different kinds! I would 100% come back. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go here. It's fantastic!

    La Braisee Poutine

We ate here yesterday and liked it so much we went back today. The food was excellent both days. Yesterday we had La Braisee poutine and the La Cocorico salad with the black currant blueberry soda and salted caramel milkshake. Today we had the tomato basil soup, chicken sandwich, fries, passion fruit soda and a Baileys velvet milkshake. The service was great and so was the food.

Its getting 5 stars for the La Grano salad. What a salad. Delicious. The dressing takes it over the top. The burgers are OK. Canadian burgers are very beefy tasting. The poutine is delicious as was the truffle fries. Also, try the homemade sodas. The mango was good.

Just had to leave a review for this place, these sweet potato fries OMG I don't think I've ever tasted something so good esp with sweet potatoes. They were so crispy and NOT oily at alllll! The service def needed to be better there was only one server for the whole place during peak lunch time. But the fries omg if you get anything get these fries. Burgers were OK!

I had my first real meal in Quebec City here after a day of traveling and touring Parliament House, as well as Chateau Frontenac. The space was super cute and a nice break from the cold. I ordered the Salted Caramel Maple milkshake and Poutine. The milkshake was wonderfully thick, smooth, creamy, sweet and tasted delightfully of maple. The Poutine I selected was La Braisee, consisting of ale-braised beef, aged cheddar, cheese curds, pickled onions, horseradish aioli and fresh herbs. What I didn't realize was the dish came with actual pieces of potato, not French fries, so I wasn't the biggest fan. To me, that's not true poutine. However, the beef was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. It went well with the cheese and onion. My friend ordered the sweet potato fries, so I got to try some. These were nicely crispy and had true sweet potato taste. Service was decent. Since I was disappointed with my meal, I would not return.

We came for an early lunch in mid-August. We were seated at an outside table at the front of the restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered 3 chicken burgers, poutine, fries and lemonade. The fries and poutine came out first with the drinks. I didn't know that the portions were so large! The fries were nice and crispy. This is our first time trying poutine and it was tasteless. The chicken burger came out and it was average tasting - nothing special.

Great location across from the Frontenac. Sit outside and take in the view and people. Milkshakes are amazing. Nice place to sit and have a drink. Food was just ok. I expected the burger to be juicy and amazing but it was neither. Chicken sandwich was subpar and I would have thought it would have more substance. Overall, I would come back for shakes and drink not the food.

    Don't forget the poutines too!

Burgers, fries and milkshakes with a good collection of poutines make this a great stop for lunch located next to the Hotel Frontenac. Places to eat inside and out. Service was friendly. They have a great gluten free bun for those that are "sans gluten".

Came here primarily due to proximity to the Chateau. Advertised as a Burger place, so wife and I both ordered different versions of their burger. The consensus was that both burgers were not very good. They were not juicy at all and appeared to be overcooked. To add to the meal, I ordered the classic poutine. The fries were not traditional, which completely spoiled the entire effect for me. The gravy and cheese was only OK. We topped everything with chocolate shakes. Things went much better with these shakes. Both were excellent. Liked the atmosphere of the Chic Shack. Had a window table so we could people watch. Was chilly and raining, so sitting outside wasn't an option.

This place was on our list but not when we planned. A close restaurant was too full so we came here, after bookmarking it to come later due to the reviews. It was so good. It was comparable inside to a diner feel but the food was more upscale than that! Fresh, delicious, and clean. We sat near the windows and it was beautiful to watch groups go by while enjoying great food. Very affordable and staff superb!
