The waiter that welcomed me was super super friendly and outgoing. I had such a great experience with eating a fulfilling meal . Visited Le Chic Shack for a late lunch after exploring Old Quebec. There was a large wait, as half the restaurant had been reserved by what appeared to be a tour group. Once seated, our drink orders were taken. They make their own sodas, I had their blackberry soda which was very lightly sweet and carbonated. After getting our drinks, they took our food orders. I got their venison burger, with their smoked meat poutine. Both were really good. The burger was not dry, the lettuce, tomato, cheeses, and condiments were all high quality. It was interesting to be able to distinguish the taste of each ingredient in the burger. The poutine was good too. Instead of fries, they seem to smash a whole potato, and then fry that. Casual lunch spot for a burger near the Fairmont Chateau. I tried the Le Robuste (Venison patty, maple whiskey deglazed mushrooms, Ciel de Charlevoix cheese, arugula, house pickles, tomato, gentleman's steak sauce, black garlic mayonnaise) and a side of the Signature Fries (Périgord fries: truffle oil, Parmesan, fresh herbs). Once served I saw a hair in my burger so they re-made it. Burger was good, and despite the hair, I would eat it again! Stopped by Le Chic Shack for lunch shortly after they opened and luckily didn't have to wait in line. The hostess quickly sat us in the area to the left with the high top tables. I was wondering how this would work with N as he needed a highchair, but our server ended up stacking two highchairs together which did the trick. However, be careful! N's foot got stuck in between the highchairs, which made for a somewhat scary situation. Definitely wouldn't recommend this again (didn't think about something like this happening or would have requested sitting elsewhere). The hostess quickly came by to check out the situation and acknowledged it...hopefully the restaurant doesn't seat families with small children in this area again! Anyhow, on to the food. I ordered the Le Chic burger, which came with maple-smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, Chic sauce, and the usual fixings (lettuce, tomato, pickles). My burger was cooked well, and was nice and juicy. My bacon was crispy and the cheesy was nicely melted. Loved the brioche bun, which made the burger that much better. I also shared the La Braisee poutine, which came with braised beef, cheese curds, parm, and pickled onions. They definitely didn't skimp on the cheese curds! I wish there was more beef, which was sprinkled throughout the dish and was more apparent on the bottom. The beef was nice and tender, though. The potatoes were nice and crispy, which was good as they didn't become mushy with all the toppings. This dish is definitely a meal in itself so share it! Service was good, with our waiter checking up on us pretty frequently. The restrooms were super tiny and not ideal for changing diapers. They had a changing table...hooray! But, the changing table was right in front of one of the restroom stalls, so if someone is in that stall, they need to wait until you are done changing the diaper or you need to pick the baby up so they could exit. People coming into the restroom might also accidentally hit the changing table when the open the door too. I enjoyed the food at Le Chic Shack, but in terms of being family friendly (at least for those with small children), not so sure this is the ideal place for you. read more

Perfect location when visiting Château Frontenac or Citadel. Awesome experience across the board. This review is specially for all vegetarian friends who do not include meat and eggs in their diet like us. This was one of the places which we found we could not be more happy about. They not only offered vegan/vegetarian choices all the staff understood the dietary restrictions well. The food was fresh & flavorful. They use separate fryers for meat and fries which was something not many places offered here due to various reasons. Their house sodas were perfect balance of fizz and sweetness. The restaurant is very approachable and casual. American rap music was playing - it was a nice vibe to hear the kitchen staff singing along. Delicious fries!! And we managed to get the best view for lunch :) It looks like they got great burgers but we only came to devour some fries before snacking around at the local market. I highly recommend the specialty fries which are their truffle oil fries. OMG! Just enough parmesan sprinkled on top with the most intoxicating smell. I am now constantly craving these!! We also ordered the poutine with braised pork and pickled onions and topped with shaved parmesan. Cheese curds were adequately squeaky and instead of fries, you get the roasted potatoes. Late at night and we wanted a good meal. Our experience in old Quebec wasn't am great with restaurants. Mostly too touristic and not goods so we gave this a shot! We were so not disappointed! The place gets crowded especially with tourist as it is near the tour bus stop. It is also in the same building as the Musée du Fort. This place had so much potential, too bad. The location is amazing, the menu looks great, there is proper social/physical distancing measures but it all comes done to the food and price. Food my wife had an ok veggie burger, my kids an average burger and I had a poutine that was made from potatoe cubes with a black paper cream. This is not a poutine on any scale and I lived 5 years in Montreal I know my poutine (basic and fancy ones!) The price was also high even for the location. Yes 12-13$ for a burger is a bit high but not for the location the fact it comes with no sides makes it very high. Not a fan of this place. read more

My vegetarian daughter loved her veggie burger which was custom made and not a Beyond Burger or something similar. My wife, young son (8) and I ate here upon arriving to Quebec City the weekend of the Pope's visit. We ordered burgers for the adults, a grilled chicken sandwich for our son, sides of fries, chips and poutine, as well as a large green salad. The burgers and chicken sandwich were all delicious. You could tell they were using good-quality meats, and the sandwiches were constructed and served nicely. The hot sides were all excellent--whether it's chips, fries or poutine you can't go wrong. The downsides, and hence low score, we're due to the sloppy unprofessional staff that forgot our salad entirely until we asked repeatedly for our server's attention (which was hard to get, just little care and no eye contact while instead chatting with each other and goofing off). They also got my wife's burger order wrong in two ways--cheese and chic sauce were served despite the request to omit it. Additionally, we all left with a lasting, permeating taste of onion, as they are a little heavy on the caramelized onions. The green salad was very good, eaten to completion, I should say. The poutine was also delicious. However our experience with the burgers/sandwiches -- their main attraction -- just fell really short of even Shake Shack or Bareburger (two US chains that are popular). The beverages we ordered were the pricy handmade sodas that were overly syrupy and sweet. They take pride in not serving "commercial soft drinks" however they should reconsider that. read more

Not so friendly staff, waiter saw me using ketchup container that happens to be empty and instead of offering of a different ketchup bottle turn her head around pretending she didn't saw me. This place is famous for burger but they don't offer how your burger will be cooked, so you assume the chief will decide the best way possible style of cooking the burger without compromising the tenderness, taste and overall quality of the burger but lo and behold, the burger arrived overcooked, it's too hard and it's tasteless. On our whole trip to Canada the service here was the worst we had. It took a while to get our server despite it being around 3pm so past lunch rush. They didn't have the drink i wanted so I said just water, but they brought (and charged) me for a beer anyway. Hubs asked for no tomato, burger had tomato. The food was fine, I got the chicito so it was nice and small - the side chips were - um interesting. maple syrup with pepper. Overall a great spot near some touristy site-seeing options. It can get packed so be prepared to wait or at least make a reservation ahead of time. If there's just the 2 of you, the wait isn't as long since people come and go quickly - it's not exactly a place where people stay to chat long in my opinion from what I experienced while being there. The dishes are filling (especially the burgers since portions are fairly big) and the poutine tasted pretty delicious.
