This is a super cute counter service coffee house/cafe of the famous Commanders Palace restaurant. We stopped in for lunch and I loved the turquoise and white decor, which is the color theme of Commanders Palace. The girls that helped us were super helpful describing ingredients and making suggestions. We ordered a Gulf Shrimp Salad, a BLT, and a Creoletta sandwich (like a muffaletta, except with a mirleton relish). Everything was yummy! If you don't want to wait for the much fancier Commanders Palace to open (evenings only) and want a taste of this iconic restaurant, try Le Petit Bleu. read more

I stopped by Le Petit Bleu in New Orleans and had mixed feelings overall. The interior is absolutely beautiful--charming, thoughtfully designed, and such a cozy little spot to sit and sip. I tried the Mardi Gras latte, which was good, just a little more bitter than I personally prefer (I definitely lean toward sweeter drinks). That said, the flavor itself was nice--just depends on your taste. The ham and Swiss baguette, though, was disappointing. For $13, it felt too small to justify the price, and it mostly tasted like butter. I was hoping for a more balanced flavor and a bit more substance. It's a cute spot aesthetically, but I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to return. read more

We were actually heading to Commander's Palace, but didn't realize a dress code was enforced. However, they opened Le Petit which, I feel, appeals to the casual set. Friendly greeting when we walked in. It's a cozy dining room. We ordered two crab croissant sandwiches and a bottle of prosecco. The prosecco was the highlight of this visit. It was really good! Now the crabmeat was paired with arugula and a dijonaise and was very flavorful. The croissant was a disappointment. It was rather small and not toasted which would've added another layer to it. But the amount of crabmeat was good. Elizabeth was great! She opened our prosecco and poured, and even checked with us once before it got busy. This coffee house is located right across the street from Lafayette Cemetery #1. It is right next-door to the Commander restaurant. Which is a very popular high-end dining place. This place is nice cause they are open late and you can just sit back and chill. They have a little gift shop associated with their store. They have a cooler with some snacks and treats too. The service staff is very friendly here. We would return again. read more

Le Petit Bleu is a the cutest cafe' by Commander's Palace, adorned in "Tiffany Blue." You can place an order online or at the counter; however, seating is very limited. I particularly love the Crab Croissant. The croissant is flaky and soft and the crab salad is delicious and full of lump crab. However, for those who prefer a lot of flavor, you might want a bit more seasoning. I also absolutely love the White Bean Cassoulet, as the flavor is bold and the soup is soothing. I also had a mimosa and appreciate the generous pours here. This is the cutest spot to dip into if you can grab a seat. read more

(10/09/2025 visit) I dropped by on a whim, after waiting too late to grab a reservation at Commander's Palace while I was in town. The atmosphere was bright and cheerful, and the young man at the counter was very helpful and friendly. I ordered the turtle soup, which was delicious and an experience unique to the area, so I would highly recommend it. The "Creoletta," which was their updated, French bistro take on a Muffaletta, was an unfortunate miss for me; I think this was a situation if "subtraction by addition" - the classic sandwich was is close to perfect on its own, and shouldn't be altered in such a dramatic way. For dessert, I enjoyed the bananas foster crepe, as well as a taste of my friend's strawberry and cream crepe - both were very tasty, and will hit the spot, especially if you're a crepe fanatic. read more

Lovely place. It's so quaint and welcoming. I love the fresh look of the vibrant turquoise colors. I had the grilled cheese with added ham. I could tell the ingredients are very good quality however I didn't enjoy it very much for the fact that there was a lot of sauce in the sandwich. It was just too much and it gave the sandwich a thick, gunky texture. The bacon croissant sandwich was delicious. They used a thick cut of bacon and it was perfectly cooked. Their hot latte was delicious. If it wasn't for all that sauce in the grilled cheese it would have been 10/10! read more

Absolutely wonderful! It's got the same bright vibes as Commanders Palace yet more relaxed. It's counter service and there is limited seating, but we got lucky to get a spot because we wanted to try a few things! We ordered 2 coffees, the turtle soup, the bean cassoulet, the banana foster crepe and the Cajun crepe. The banana foster crepe is amazing and served with a delicious vanilla ice cream that I loved! The turtle soup with the sherry was definitely my favorite bite, it's the same as at Commanders Palace which I had had years ago and it was even better than I remembered! read more

Don't let the name fool you: it may be Le Petit, but it's got tons to offer! They're known for their crepes but they do offer sandwiches, lattes and other breakfast, lunch AND dinner items. I wasn't too hungry so I shared a bananas faster crepe with Mom. It was a bit too sweet for me - not on them, though, that's how they serve it. But the crepes were nicely done as it had a bit of fluff. But just a warning: diabetics be aware! There are other options and they offer something for everyone. They are busy and they are popular. Peeps line up to score one of few tables. This says a lot. (It really is a small-spaced eatery, so if waiting is not your thing, plan accordingly.) Cute space, good menu... but zero customer management ruined the whole experience. I really wanted to love Le Petit Bleu. It's a charming, tiny offshoot of Commander's Palace with the cutest vibe- crepes, soups, salads, cozy café energy. When we walked in, all the tables were full except one that simply needed to be cleared. No one else was waiting, so we placed our order and planned to sit there once it was cleaned. We waited about 15 minutes, no complaints. The space is adorable (even the bathroom gives French language lessons, which honestly made us laugh). My soup came out beautifully plated, and just as I was about to ask about the table again... two women walked in and things went downhill fast. They bypassed the line, grabbed menus, and immediately tried to claim the uncleared table we'd been waiting on- with my food literally in my hand. I let them and the staff know we had already ordered and had been waiting for that table. The staff member looked unsure and said nothing. The two women sat anyway. A small two-top opened next to them and we tried to squeeze into it, but it was painfully awkward. The women then confronted us and insisted they had every right to the table, even though they skipped the line and hadn't ordered yet. It turned into an unnecessary, uncomfortable situation that should never have fallen on customers to navigate. This is where the problem lies: The café needs a clear policy- or at least staff willing to enforce basic etiquette. "First come, first served" doesn't work when people can walk in, skip the line, and claim a table over guests who already paid and are waiting patiently. Staff should have stepped in rather than leaving it to customers to sort out. At that point we asked for everything else to go, left my plated meal behind, and honestly didn't even enjoy the food later because the whole experience had been soured. TL;DR: Cute place, promising menu, but the lack of customer management turned what should have been a lovely lunch into a stressful, disappointing experience. I wish I had asked for our $40 back. read more

I visit New Orleans every few months and I used to love the croissant with crab salad here. When I first tried it in December of 2024, it was enough for two people to share. A hearty serving of crab salad, greens and avocado. The croissant was flakey, not dry and delicious. The dressing had a perfect tang and we came back the next day for another one. Today I was seriously disappointed. The croissant was small, hard and not flakey. It seemed half the size, barely any greens or avocado. I planned my hop on hop off bus travels to get there to be super disappointed. For $21 plus a latte. I spent nearly $40 with tip. Sadly not worth the effort. read more

Also available are pastries, coffee, cocktails, and packaged items to go. There's a section with merchandise and memorabilia. You can even purchase Commander's Palace branded champagne. There are a few tables inside and the décor is lovely - featuring marble countertops, blue & white patterned walls and tile floors. After walking around the Garden District, I stopped in to get a buttermilk biscuit to take home. It came with whipped butter and real maple syrup. The biscuit was big & thick. Most definitely a meal in itself. It was crumbly on the edges and soft & dense in the middle. I could taste the buttermilk. It was so good and even better when warmed in the toaster over and topped with the whipped butter and maple syrup. Yum! I could eat this for breakfast every day and be happy. read more

I was so looking forward to this meal. What an incredible disappointment. It was our worst meal in New Orleans. The service was awful as well. Ambiance nice but it does not make up for the poor service and the food experience. One of the employees with whom we dealt had the attitude of wanting to be anywhere but there. In fact, at one point I went to the counter and she said to ask someone else (no one else was there at the moment) as she was going on break. There were 4 tables, 2 occupied, but then 1 party left, so just 1 occupied table, but 2 tables with half-eaten food on them. (I did note that the people had not finished their meals. Perhaps that should have been a red flag.) The one unoccupied (by people or food) table was just for 2 people, so I needed to wait for a bussed table for 2 to put 2 tables together for 3 of us. The sign on the table said the staff would bus the tables. After about 10 minutes, we bussed the table. It was pretty gross, other peoples' foods. The woman at the counter called over that they would bus, and I said, "We have been waiting 10 minutes and no one has done this." Now for the food. The quiche was delicious, but small. It unexpectedly came with greens, which was nice...but they were dressed. (We should have been told this was coming.) We tried the greens and literally felt like spitting it out. Worst dressing ever. It tasted like ground black pepper in white vinegar. Horrid. I went up to the counter to ask for an alternative. The person at the counter (the 3rd of the 3 servers with whom I dealt that day) went to the back and seemed to have an attitude as she repeated my words about the dressing. One person with us declined an alternative, so turned off. The alternative was romaine and fine. The other person with us had a sandwich (which was okay, nothing special), not greens. Other food was fine, nothing fantastic, and certainly nothing wanting us to return. read more

We happened upon this place going through the Garden district. We had stopped to look at cemetery 1. My husband said look there is a crepe place. That's all he had to say crepes. I love crepes!!! The inside is so lovely! My husband got the Cajun , I got the strawberries and Bavarian cream, and my son got the tart lemon with blueberries. I have also always wanted to try a Quiche so I got the Lorraine. So good! It was such an unexpected find! We wanted to go back but We never made it :( The lady was friendly . It was perfect !! Nice you tell them what you'd like - and the choices are plenty making it difficult to pick what type of experience your taste buds will have. We chose the bacon egg and cheese biscuit and a savory ham and cheese crêpe this time around and we were not disappointed! We did have a small issue with one of the sandwiches, but they were more than eager to correct the small mistake. We love the quaint cafe at the colors and photos that adore the walls. You can also shop while you wait for your food and take home a piece of history, an apron or a cookbook from commanders palace! The cafe is SMALL -- so if you visit during peak dining hours, you probably will not get a seat at one of the 4 tables. I went at 3 pm on a weekend and it was not busy and was able to sit! Everything I got to eat was delicious! Really enjoyed the crepes and croissant sandwich! One of the best croissants I've had recently! The gumbo didn't have too much flavor and had a bit of thick texture to the broth. Chicken wasn't tender and almost tough. I may have caught them on an off day as that realistically does happen. However I would strongly suggest to them and patrons to be careful with the to-go spoons. Very cheap quality and sharp edges. Also not the spoon type to be eating any type of soup with. A much better option would be a plastic spoon that is almost round and also more sturdy. Probably won't be back. read more

This little cafe was gorgeous, the food & coffee the most flavorful. Just as you get into the garden district. The staff were very polite. We had lattes and cappuccino, they came in the stripped to go cups that felt of nice quality. We ordered the quiche that came with a side of lemon & pepper dressed arugula, the combination was perfect. You had the warm quiche with the melted cheese and the arugula gave it a bright refresh. My sisters ordered the chicken salad on croissant, tangy and sweet and flavorful. The breakfast sandwich on croissant And the biscuit sandwich, the biscuit was very fluffy melted in your mouth, with egg and cheese. Commanders is one of my favorite restaurants across the US! Le Petit Bleu offers the chance to try some of their foods in a casual setting. I love the "Commanders blue" color scheme. I would describe this as Commanders "Quick Service Restaurant". You order at the counter and they bring your food out to 1 of only about 10 tables. I got lucky and snagged a table inside. If not, cop a squat on the brick wall in front of Commanders and you might get lucky to catch a Second Line funeral at Lafayette Cemetary No. 1 across the street. The gumbo has no shellfish, yay for me and my shellfish allergy. A deep roux and wonderful sausage, chicken and trinity vegetables. The Creoletta sandwich is a play on the Muffaletta. Sliced Tasso ham and andouille sausage. Topped with provolone and pepper jack cheese and a trinity mayo/relish on a Kaiser type roll. So much better than a Muffaletta as it has less meat cheese and no olives. read more

Wanted to go to Commander's Palace for the full experience, but was unaware of the dress code for men. Opted for The Petit Bleu for a mini experience. Decor was very cute and clean. Service was friendly. Decided on the ham and cheese crepe and the blueberry lemon curd crepe. Presentation was great but unfortunately when I took my first bite in the ham and cheese crepe, I expected warm and gooey and instead got lukewarm and slightly chewy. Unable to cut crepe with just a fork, I needed a knife to cut through. As for the blueberry lemon curd, was again expecting a warm inviting crepe, but this time the lemon curd and blueberries were refrigerator/almost ice cold. It was not an enjoyable experience, and will probably not make the trip to come back. read more

The strawberry & Bavarian crepe filling was delicious but sadly my crepe was disappointing since it was precooked/reheated making it crispy/tough rather than thin and soft. We have been wanting to try this place ever since it opened. Today was the day. Unlike other reviewers, the staff ignored us as we made our way to the register. I was not impressed with the service at all. The coffee and iced tea were wonderful, but not so much the food. I had a ham and cheese crepe. I thought it would be warm so the cheese would melt. It was cold. My husband had the pb and j crepe, and it was also cold. The pecan butter was piled at one end and though there was jelly inside the crepe, there were also blueberries on top. The crepes were ok, but I expect amazing from Commander's. I did love having a real cloth napkin, though. When I asked for forks, we had to wait until some were cleaned for us. I don't think that we will return any time soon. read more
