I came to Café Conmigo with a friend for lunch one Friday. This place is really cute--it's kind of in a shotgun-style, almost container-sized building. It's black and white, very modern, and looks super new. They do have a small lunch counter inside, which is cute, but it probably only fits about 10 people. When sitting at the counter, you can see the kitchen and the food being prepared. Outside is where most of the seating is. There's plenty of it too--tables in front, some along the side, and even picnic tables in the back, so you won't have trouble finding a spot. You also don't have to go back inside to get your food because they have a service window on the side of building. They've got a lot of pork options, obviously, but I went with the black bean burger. It was sooooo good. The patty was a little soft and not super firm. The flavor made up for it--I really enjoyed it. It had those thin potato slices on top on a regular hamburger bun, and it all came together really well, but the bun is a bit basic for that price tag. I will say... I don't know if I'd come back just for that, because it was like $13 for the burger by itself--no sides, nothing extra. But it was really good though. Maybe I'll stop by for a drink.

I discovered new (to me) Cuban food in New Orleans this week. I had a craving for a café con leche and this hit the spot! The maduros (plantains) were caramelized and gooey and delicious! So often restaurants don't cook these enough or they use an unripe plantain and that ruins the dish. The ham croquettes were another high point. These (and Jamaican patties) were a constant after-school snack for me in Miami, purchased at the corner store. I didn't fall in love with the Media Noche, but having grown up near Little Havana, I probably have unfairly high standards. It was bland. If you've ever wondered what the difference is between a traditional Cuban sandwich and a media noche (Midnight Sandwich)... it's just the bread. The midnight sandwich is made on sweet and soft brioche type bread while the Cuban sandwich is on more of a white French type bread flattened in a hot press. Overall, a nice addition to the restaurant scene in New Orleans and very affordable. I can't speak to the ambience because I have my order delivered, but everything was packaged well. Note: they also carry some grocery items like plantain chips, which I ordered but did not receive. Hopefully they will work the delivery kinks out. #cubanfood #nolafood #neworleansfood

I came here for coffee and breakfast. I got the cafecito ($4), which came in a little white cup. The coffee was sweet and strong. It woke me right up! As for food, I got the breakfast frita ($14), which was a burger with cheese, egg, and a whole bunch of skinny crispy little fries. The burger was juicy and well-seasoned, and I absolutely devoured it. I finished with a little dessert - an absolutely scrumptious guava and cheese pastry ($4). It was sweet and flaky, and I could have had 5 more of those bad boys. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick.

The restaurant is brand new. It's very clean, white interior. The service was good. I enjoyed my cuban sandwich (a little crispy). The serve Server they suggest I try pretty much the same sandwich, but on a different bread the next time I come in. I enjoyed their signature drink, which was really good. However, the dress leches I was not a fan of. I think the condensed milk was stormy off. But as often as I ordered it from other places, I really was surprised that I didn't really care for.

I stopped in for a quick bite, avoiding the very busy restaurant next-door. IYKYK. Was not disappointed! Ordered the black bean Frita and sat at the counter. Decided the sandwich was not enough and got a guava y queso pastry. If I didn't have to run errands, I would have gotten a daiquiri as well. Probably an excellent place to stop before you go hungry shopping at Trader Joe's.

Lovely cafe! 10/10 on the guava y queso pastry and iced coffee (half sweet!). The interior is really cute with great outdoor seating as well. I popped in after a Dr.s appointment and really enjoyed this spot. I'll be back for sure to try their lunch & cocktails

I loved Cafe Conmigo. I'm from Florida and we have a ton of Cuban restaurants, so I really missed that when I moved to New Orleans. I ordered the tres leches iced coffee and every pastelito that was on the display. That was guava, queso, guava y queso, carne, and jamón y queso. I also ordered an empanada de pollo and a media noche. Everything was spectacular! The pastelitos had a nice flake with plenty of filling. I'll definitely be back because I enjoyed everything. It felt like I stepped onto a beach cafe, it was bright and very cute inside. There was a bar to order and sit at. Everyone working there was very nice.

New Cuban cafe right off Freret St. Very cute vibe. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Simple modern aesthetic with diner style bar seating inside There is a large courtyard for outdoor seating. A nice size menu offering coffee, cocktails, sandwiches, pastries, etc. since it's in my neighborhood I've now been twice. Enjoyed it both times. Will be a regular. The coffee is phenomenal.

I stopped by while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. The staff was so nice. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. All I wanted was a coffee and to sit on their patio. The coffee was a 10/10; wish I would've got a larger size. The patio has plenty of space to sit large parties. Music was playing and the vibes were perfect for a chill day. It was a sunny day, but it is covered so I wasn't baking in the sun. Overall 100/10. I will be back to try the food and grab another coffee soon.

    Cafecito

Cute shop with indoor and outdoor options, flan and pastries look amazing (I just got un cafecito)... service was great and I can't wait to come back to try their sandwiches.

I was so excited to see a new Latino spot open up and did not disappoint. The guava pastelitos, croquetas, and cuban sandwich were delicious and can't wait to come back. Everyone was so welcoming and the staff have done a great job to bring such flavorful Cuban food to Nola.

This French bakery offers authentic pastries, hand-made croissants, brunch fare, & espresso drinks. The high-ceilings, white tile, and marble tabletops emit a European café vibe. There is also a charming courtyard if you want to soak in some sunshine. I first learned about this bakery when staying at the Hotel Villa Convento across the street. They served their buttery rich croissants as part of their continental breakfast. (I'm not sure if they still do.) Now that I have a house in the Quarter, I take a morning stroll over here to pick up croissants to take home. The butter croissants are a bargain at $3.50. I also love the chocolate & almond (both are $3.95 each), as well as the crisp & flaky Palmiers & delicate Almond Florentines. When I have guests, I bring them back a Ham & Cheese Croissant - a bargain at $5.50. They always ask me to bring another the next day.

I picked: a large fluffy maple roll. The outside reminded me of a croissant in the best way with some mild maple sweetness and the inside was moist, pillowy, and rich. I heated it up in the oven next day which made it even better. A square coconut roll... crisp and flaky on the outside with the most delightful sweet coconut cream inside and flaked almonds on top. This was my favorite. Will get multiple next time. And a pair of taro rolls. These I was most excited for as I love taro, and they weren't bad at all, but were probably my least favorite of the 3, purely because they had an eggy aftertaste. They weren't overly sweet with a nice smooth taro filling. I also tried a taro milk tea with soy milk. These normally include lavender too, but I asked for mine without. The flavor was off the charts good. Strangely it was nothing like the usual taro drinks I've tried and I couldn't place what I was tasting, but it was rich and creamy and so satisfying. Only thing that bummed me out was that I ordered boba and there wasn't any. :(

We were across the river and I found this spot via Mapquest. It is a small, quaint, hole-in-the-wall type place. Limited selection but everything looked delicious. She even offers a bag of doggie treats! Though Eclair is in the title, they didn't have any available when we went. However, I was easily talked into trying the creme brûlée crepe cake as a substitute for the eclair. We left out of there with half dozen macaroons, a gold encrusted oreo cupcake, the crepe cake slice, and a bag of doggie treats. The macaroons are simply delicious, flavorful and colorful. The oreo cupcake was a hit, and devoured quickly. My son and I split the crepe cake and it was surprisingly light. I wasn't sure what to expect with the multiple layers but was delightfully thrilled with the taste. And true to form, it had the torched sugar crusted topping. Definitely worth returning for more. Aladdin also devoured his doggie treat with gusto. One thing to note, the crepe cakes have to be ordered ahead of time and purchased whole. We were fortunate to have been able to sample a slice. I will definitely be placing an order soon. Overall, a superb find and well worth the trip. I will be returning.
