    Cold Tiny Cuban sandwich
    Jose G.

Is this The worst Cuban Sandwich? Not sure if the new building is the one to blame, but it seems to me that This place has gone down in quality. Are they now cutting corners on how they make this sandwich because of new building? This is how it went: I walked up to the deli. No one was there and had to wait a little while to get waited on...finally someone showed up and took my order... The sandwich was already pre-made and stored in a cooler. The size was between 6" and 7" in size. The sandwich wasn't only very small, but the ingredients/toppings, were missing proportioned to the size. It was somewhat cold in the middle and warm on the outside. The flavor was ok. Not the same. The portions are more like a 6" subway. I believe that if you want to brag about having the best "Cuban sandwich", then make it as such. Don't skimp on the size, and make sure your quality is the same with consistency from the size, the ingredients, all the way to the flavor and presentation. I'm not sure if I want to try it again. The girl at the register didn't even care about me mentioning the small size of it when I brought it to her attention. I guess somethings aren't that important to them...and for sure, caring for the customer isn't their first priority. Where's the friendly and smiling greeting when you are just opening your new building? By the way, great looking place!

Horrible customer service! I ordered a cake for my daughters 4 birthday and to get someone to place the order it took 20 mins and they didn't understand what I wanted! A mermaid cake thats all I wanted!!! Mind you I speak Spanish ‍ I finally placed my order and it came out to $75 dollars!!!! So I picked up the cake it had cracks all over it!!!! The cake was already falling apart! You can see the cracks In the pictures and when I cut the cake it was the wrong filling!! They put pineapple when I asked for buttercream!!!!

This place is a hole in the wall Honduran bakery/grocery and if you are not hispanic you will feel a bit out of place, but all of that aside they make an AMAZING cuban sandwich. When I was craving a taste of the now closed Garce's that used to be on D'hemecourt in Mid City I found this place somehow and the sandwiches are just as good. Grab some garlic plantain chips to go with it and of course a piece of some of the best tres leches cake around. It is hard to leave here and not get something sweet since the aroma of the bakery overwhelms the place. The Cuban is DIRT CHEAP. The bread was crunchy and buttery and pressed flat. It had roast pork, ham, swiss cheese, mustard and pickles. The roast pork was my favorite part of the sandwich because it was so tender. Perfectly delicious There isn't much room for you to sit and eat, it's best to take your order to go and sit outside somehwere.

After finding out my fiance had NEVER tried a cuban sandwich before, I was on a mission this past week to find one for him. A friend highly recommended Norma's, and once we googled the address, we were on our way! The place is kind of ducked off and easy to pass up if you're not paying attention and the parking lot is tiny, but they serve one of the best sandwiches I've ever had... the pork was very juicy and that bread! (To die for) We, also, bought some pastelitos and tres leches cake to go. Everything was good, and reasonably priced. We will be coming back to Norma's Bakery very soon!

    Omg so good!

I arrived right around opening time and the owner, Deja, and her team were hard at work rolling cooking dough and prepping fruit. I was warmly greeted by a staff member and browsed the cases to choose my treats. It's a small shop, so not necessarily a spot you would come to and stay a while. You can do pick-up for orders placed in advance or just walk-in and grab your favorite treat; they do offer a small table in the establishment to enjoy your items right then and there if you just can't wait. They have a wide assortment of sweets--cookies, cakes, candied fruit, cupcakes, you name it. They even have chicken salad for folks looking for a savory, light lunch option. I tried the strawberry shortcake cupcake, tres leches, cheesecake salad, and ooey gooey. The tres leches and cheesecake salad were my favorites! I'd never had tres leches before and I loved it--it was slightly spongy, incredibly most, and not too sweet. It was topped with what I think was a whipped icing and a half of strawberry. I'm not sure what traditional tres leches is supposed to taste like, but this one made me hug myself and rock side to side a few times, lol. The cheesecake salad was very unique. It was bite-sized pieces of cheesecake with a cookie butter crust (OMG!) over a bed of fruit and topped with a cookie butter drizzle. Talk about good, you hear me?! The ooey gooey and strawberry shortcake cupcake were also delicious. I've never quite known what ooey gooey is made of, but it dang sure is tasty. The serving sizes are also very generous; even the cupcake was enough to share between two people if you wanted to (but it's so good, you won't want or need to). All of my goodies cost me less than $25 which I thought was pretty good considering there was more than enough to share. I can't wait to stop back by the next time I'm the area, to try something new!

Since I started working in Kenner I kept hearing the buzz about Party Palace and how it was "just as good" as Randazzo's or Haydel's king cakes. I have to say they certainly do stack up to the competition. I am a traditional kinda gal and I loved the ribbons of cinnamon throughout the bread...the true mark of care and quality in a king cake in my opinion. I hate when its just plain bread with no flavor, but this was the opposite. The cake was topped with white icing and colored granulated sugar....the way it should be! The king cake was super fresh and dare I say it...moist. (chills, I know.) The building it very unassuming plopped in the middle of a random section of residential and warehouse type businesses. I guiltily used my GPS to get to there. I did not realize Veterans went past Loyola, guys! Apparently, they sell Party Palace king cakes in a lot of other places around the city so if you see the logo elsewhere, know that it has the mark of approval from the locals.
