Came here to drop off my wedding dress and 4 suits! The prices are very reasonable and they are an honest business. I had first called over the phone to inquire about wedding dresses and the lady said to come by so she could see the fabric before deciding (versus just saying yes to get the money!). This is my first time ever getting dry cleaning done but I thought they did a very good job and communicated well. The turnover time was less than 2 weeks, you get a text saying when it's ready for pick up, and they give you hangers and bags for your items. Now that I'm working in Downtown Oakland, Le Magic has become my main cleaners for my shirts ($2 per shirt) and any dry cleaning. There's a sign, in by 9:15am and ready by 4pm. That works out perfect for me since I start work at 8am, I can drop of my clothes at 7:30am when they open and they have it ready for when I get out of work at 4pm. However, given that they are a mom and pop shop, happy to support and continue coming here! I recently brought in my wedding dresses with hopes to get them dry cleaned. Brought goose down comforter in and they couldn't clean it because of lint no alternatives offered or even refund after waiting a week and no warning. It was a good value but maybe next time look at the product a customer brings in with assessment to let the customer know if you can clean it or not i would've happily brought it somewhere else read more

Costly mistake. I brought a suit in to be cleaned here and I should have known by how the woman threw it into a laundry basket that my suit was not going to be cared for. Sure enough, when I picked up my suit, I had paid $27 for a nice new pair of holes in the jacket arm. Basically, I threw $1027 into the trash by coming here. Don't be like me. read more

Soooo...I see this place has a lot of great reviews. That's really great for you guys, really, it is! I was one of you at one time... I started going to Le Magic Cleaners because it was right near my boyfriend's office and cheap! I had been pretty pleased with the service all along until we dropped a bunch of stuff off there for same day service and when I got my shirt back, it was DAMAGED. Now, this wasn't a particularly expensive shirt, but it was one of my favorites. It fit me perfectly, and was easily casual or dressy, just one of those wonderful shirts I won't ever be able to find again. It also has sentimental value because I got to go on a very special tour of the white house and of course, I picked my favorite shirt to wear! There is some kind of chemical damage right around the collar of the shirt on the front and the back. It is easy to see, and has completely ruined the shirt. We took the shirt back the next day and told the people at Le Magic what happened and they absolutely refused to claim responsibility or do anything to compensate me for the shirt. No apology, no discount--they wouldn't even refund me for the dry cleaning on the shirt they RUINED. You have got to be kidding me. They literally do not give a shit. My bf and I get our clothes dry cleaned here and we have always been satisfied with the results. The place is located near our house and every time we drop off or pick up it isn't busy which is great. Our clothes come back well refreshed and clean and wrinkle free so they are always ready to wear. Just make sure to remember to pick up because for some reason this place won't call you to tell you that your dry cleaning is ready which I agree is bad customer service so that can definitely change as we have left our clothes there for over a month and the owner didn't seem to care. read more

Ok, I have lived in NYC where dry cleaning is astronomically priced and I swear they create more stains than they get out of clothes. Coming back to Le Magic was like coming home. Their service is excellent (family-run?) and they have a super speedy turn-around (usually about 48-72 hours without me even asking) and prices can't be beat. I take dry cleaning here every couple months and the one stain they weren't able to get out they didn't charge me for. I don't bring my dry cleaning anywhere else. Several times I have brought jeans to be hemmed here. I just told them the length I wanted them and they did a simple hem. I wouldn't bring anything fancy/intricate here (go to AZ Cleaners on Piedmont for that), but a simple job they do for a great price. read more

I love their straight to business attitude and effectiveness. We get things dry cleaned weekly and never had an issue. The one time some clothes were not cleaned properly, which happened, they fixed it with no questions. Monday: 4 winter coats, 3 suits, 2 skirts, button and pocket repairs. Friday: Only $86 dollars later, my dry cleaning was almost perfect. Only thing wrong was that the ironed the pleats out of my pleated skirt and they were hard to put back in again (and I didn't do a stellar job) but I'm sure they would have fixed it if I hadn't been to lazy to go back in... These people saved my life. My girlfriend was nice enough to let me be her date for East Bay Yelp Prom. It turns out the jacket I wanted to use was too big. Without permission, I borrowed a friend's suit jacket that fit perfectly. Like a dumbass I left my boutonniere on it and in a few days it left a stain. Since he's out of town and was coming back two days after I noticed the stain, I panicked and turned to yelp to find a great dry cleaner. First of all, SAME DAY SERVICE IF YOU BRING YOUR STUFF IN BEFORE 10 AM!! Come 5 pm that day I had the jacket completely clean and ready to be snuck back into my friend's closet without him ever finding out I even touched it. This was my first time ever dry cleaning anything and it felt really cheap. I was only charged $4.75. The jacket was given back in flawless condition, stain removed and no additional stains on the jacket. The only thing I didn't like was the $15 minimum for credit cards, but just bring some cash, guyz. I'm gonna bring them some pants that need fixin'. I'll update you on that soon... read more

Prices are very reasonable for the quality service. I've brought everything from business attire, formal dresses, and silk blouses and everything has came out clean and with a fast turn around! Parking can be a bit difficult and you might need to circle the block a few times but they are worth the quick trip. read more

Based on other good reviews, I gave this place a try for laundered shirts and stuck with them for about 8 months. I was hoping for improvement over time as I developed a rapport with them and in total I've probably had 150 shirts done there. It took a few weeks to make sure I was getting shirts that were pressed correctly, with no strange wrinkles pressed into the collar, cuffs or front of the shirt (I had to give up on the backs and just deal with zig zagging strange creases). But now I'm at the end of the tether and it's time to begin the search again. Lately, every shirt I get back from them has at least one cracked button. It stinks to get an outfit planned out for the day, put in on and find that a sleeve or front button is half gone or totally missing. The last shirt had both sleeve buttons missing - there is no way the operator of the press didn't notice that, but they just went along and sent it back to me anyway. Dry cleaning seems ok, but I haven't had much done there. Overall, I'd say save your time and frustration, try somewhere else. read more

This review is for pants hemming. They hemmed a pair of pants for me and the first time I washed it, the hem came out on one side. When I took it back, they redid the hem in one day, but after I washed it, it was loose again, with threads coming out. The hem is also slightly shorter than I requested, so there is no room to take them somewhere else. I feel like I wasted my money and ruined my pants. I used to try to skirt around dry cleaning my clothes. why? you ask. Because I thought 1. It's expensive 2. I never have time on the weekdays to pick up my clothes. Well, Le Magic solves both these problems because they are super cheap and they are open on Saturdays. I can always find street parking right in front of the shop and they have decent turnaround time. We've been going to Le Magic for a couple months now with no problems at all. I read all the reviews for Le Magic and was not disappointed! I went in a few months ago and had a winter coat dry cleaned and a pair of dress pants, hemmed and cleaned, for $14! I then had two pairs of jeans hemmed in 1 day before I left on a holiday trip. They didn't charge me extra for short notice either. They did a great job matching thread on my jeans, real quality work. The staff was very accommodating and really helped get my last minute needs for my trip met! I will definitely go back! read more

I think Le Magic is losing a little bit of its magic. I went there the other day to get some jeans hemmed and a dress strap shortened, and the lady at the counter deemed these alterations too complicated, and urged me to visit her friend's tailoring shop around the corner (Mimi's). Her pal tried to charge me $30 for these simple alterations. I was mostly annoyed because Le Magic clearly has a sign in the window that says "alterations" and I've had them hem several pairs of jeans before. Not having it.
