I am tired of doing laundry every week at my apartment. I picked Martinizing because they can wash HOT and dry HOT while I've been seeing Family Laundry Van around Alameda, they can only wash and dry WARM. I feel that warm wash and warm dry doesn't kill germs or bacteria. Their communication with texting is amazing with Liz, Bob and Ana. They will answer any questions you have small or big which is great. I give them 1 star less because they didn't arrive on the first day that I made arrangements with them. They came the next day. Then when it came time to drop off my clean and folded clothes, I texted them a couple of times to remind them to please drop off at or after 5:30pm. They didn't come at all until I texted them at 9:22 pm at night. I really needed my clean clothes for work the next day. Ana was able to text me back right away and said they were 1 driver down and got behind on all the pick ups and deliveries. I felt sorry for them and I was able to get my clothes at 10:11pm. With Ana making it right, I'm going to give Martinizing another try. I arranged pick up again this coming Thursday. read more

Zippers, zippers, zippers everywhere. What always amazes me is how they always, and I mean always, look and feel like the original and work perfectly. I'm new to the Oakland area and had a bit of an emergency the night before my sisters wedding. Needed a pair of pants to be creased and pressed with rush. Was up all night trying to figure out which drycleaners would open early enough to finish and return the pants. I called several as they were supposedly open at 7am. No one picked up or went to voicemail until I called Laura at Martinizing. She said it would take an hour which would be cutting it short and was heaitant but ahe told me ober the phone to come on down and she'd take care of me. I was afraid it would take longer than I expected but was in and out extremely quick. She saved the weddding for me and made my day. Servoce is on the more expensive side but I didn't mind it because the quality of the service was worth it. Recently it seems as the quality has gone down significantly. My shirts weren't as clean and crisp as they used to be. Marks on shirts did not come off or not even acknowledged as before (I got rid of them at home with a proper wash and treatment). I brought in a pair of slacks to be tailored, nothing complex. It was just to take out the waist and shorten the length. The paints came a week later than originally promised, we made it clear they were needed for a trip AND the specific date they were needed. They also came the incorrect length and they had to be redone and were delayed a few more weeks. All of this work cost nearly $60! I would not recommend Martinizing for anything more than cleaning. read more

I have been a loyal customer at this location, and was content with their services until recently. My husband was complaining that his dress shirts did not fit after getting them dry cleaned. I inquired about the service and to my surprise they had laundered 9 of his dress shirts (when I specifically asked for them to be dry cleaned) laundering caused them to shrink. I complained to the mgr. Laura, who was very friendly, and explained the claim/reimbursement process however I am going on 2 months and have not heard back from anyone! To add insult to injury they kept the shirts and have not provided as much as an apology. I have followed up three times and no update has been provided. I was hesitant to provide a review but decided I should warn others that apparently if you take garments to get dry cleaned, you have to make sure they attached a small label that says dry clean other wise they will assume you want to get the item laundered. Which I find odd, considering I brough they items to a dry cleaner to get dry cleaned because I can launder/wash the items at home. **UPDATE* Bob did respond to my review and asked I call him. I attempted to call, however the call goes straight to a voicemail that is full. Update: issue was never resolved. The dry cleaners not only ruined my husband's pricey dress shirts, but the also kept them! I reached out numerous times and Bob never offered a resolution. Beyond Disappointed! read more

I bought a dress second-hand, and it came in the mail with stains on it. I searched for cleaners on Google, and Martinizing was the first to pop up. They have such wonderful employees; they are all very nice. The dress was finished a day before the estimated time, and all of the stains were completely gone. I took my cloths in for a wash and fold service. It was 2.5 loads and it came up to $104!! Very surprised but I understood the reason for the cost as items were heavy clothing. That being said, when I pay this much for service I do expect that it would be done in a consist fashion so that I do not have to open and refold clothing. Sweater and shirts were folded 2 different ways, making it not easy to pull from the beg and put on a self or drawer. Very frustrated for sure. I called and asked to speak with the supervisor, and I am still waiting for that call, which lead me to write this review. Good for dry cleaning and absolute No for wash and fold. read more

I do not recommend the tailor here, can't speak on dry cleaning. I brought my military blouse here to have 2 insignias sewn on. It took 2 weeks and when I came to pickup, the measurements were incorrect so I requested it to be fixed. They said they'd fix it and I could pick up later in the day. No biggie. They called me and let me know that it was ready and I explained what was wrong that morning and asked if it was fixed. The person sent me a picture and I could tell something was off. When I went in to pickup, the tailor had moved the U.S. Coast Guard and resewed it over the pocket. This was never my request. The tailor then argued with me that this was correct (it's not). When taking to a different tailor, I noticed a hole in my blouse beside where they moved the patch. So now I have a hole in my blouse, I was promised I'd be reimbursed and haven't been (that was Dec 19 and now it's Jan 7), and now I have to pay for a different tailor. I called twice asking to speak to the manager/owner and was told I'd get a call back and never did. Very unprofessional. Do not recommend military members use this tailor. read more

Mind you THE MANAGER said it be ready the next day (Thursday). They don't even know where the rug is at this moment. This is my first time going here. I was extremely happy with the quality of work and the fantastic attitude and attentiveness of the seamstress, "Veronica" - which was amazing. Measured the suits and jackets perfectly. Gave me great suggestions and certainly knew her business. Excellent job Veronica! In addition, the staff I worked with showed exemplary customer service. I would like to give a shout out to "Charlie" (front desk representative). She was/is excellent. Interested in my needs, Very friendly, patient, listens and worked very very well with me. As a long time Alamedan resident, I've never had such a horrible experience with a service provider in my community. It was my first and last time I will ever be using Martinizing at South Shore. Firstly, they didn't provide a list of what I brought in nor an estimated cost of what my cleaning bill would be. While luckily, I could afford the $329 that I spent to clean 12 items and press two table cloths, at a cost of $50 each, what made my experience so bad was that they lost my pants! I don't know that I would have been as upset if Bob Morgan, the owner, hadn't promised that he would compensate me. He even went so far as to email me to ask me for the details of the pants and their value. I returned this information, but since then, I have never heard back from him, even after I followed up twice. Given that the last time he responded to me was on September 8 (now 10/21/25) saying that he would handle this for me, I have no faith that he kept his word. So, in total, we've spent over $800 at a cleaner that provides terrible service at high prices. read more

My husband has used Martinizing for dry cleaning a few times, and they've done a great job at affordable prices! At my wedding, we were literally in ocean water in our wedding attire - water splashing and sand EVERYWHERE. We brought in the suit and my wedding dress the next day; the suit was dry cleaned and you would never have guessed it was submerged in the ocean water. I also went through Martinizing to have my wedding dress cleaned/preserved, as well as one of the sleeves repaired. They use the company "Prestige Preservation" to do preservations, and I just picked up my dress today and it is nicely preserved in a sealed box. It took about 2 months for me to get my dress back. Martinizing sent me a text as soon as it was ready for pickup. read more

Really terrible, sadly. I brought in custom pinch pleated drapes to the Danville CA location to be dry cleaned. I was told they "had to be washed". I questioned this, though Martinizing specializes in drapes, so I assumed they knew how to clean them properly. I was told they would be cleaned in the Alameda location and that it would take a week. I called on day 4 to see if we could possibly get them back one day early. I was put on hold several minutes, then told they were "destroyed during their cleaning process" 2 days prior, yet no one bothered to call and inform us. No one. Replacing the item has been problematic. Just a really negligent, unnecessary situation. Had they not been capable of performing this task, they should not have accepted it. And, at minimum, replace what they destroyed. read more

This is an update on my previous review. About 24 days ago, I posted a review on Martinizing Dry Cleaners in Alameda about one of my husband's white shirts.  I told the staff that there were a couple of spots needed attention.  A few days later, I picked up our clothes, everything looked fine except my husband's white shirt.  I was pretty upset that the cleaner did not remove the stain spots.  So, I went on to Yelp and wrote an "unhappy" review, the fact that they charged me but did not remove the stain spots. The owner Bob contacted me quickly and expressed that he wanted to pickup the shirt to try to clean it again.  I e-mailed Bob that I would bring the shirt to his shop for them to try again. Well, the day I was ready to bring the white shirt in, my husband showed me a tag on the shirt saying that they could not remove the stains.  I texted Bob and apologized that I did not see the tag before.  However, I still felt that I should not be charged on the shirt that still has the stains.  Bob is very graceful and offered to refund the entire dry cleaning fee to me which I do not think it's fair for him to do that, especially I know that owning a business is very difficult with the current environment.  I do not want his company to lose money so I told him that I would bring my shirt in for him to try as he insisted but no need for the refund.  I will, however, update my review so that Martinizing will keep its good name! This is actually a good learning experience for me also:  I told myself that I have to look at everything before I actually "complained" about the business.  I am always very honest in all my reviews but in this case, it's partly my fault not to see the tag.  However, Bob is kind enough to try his best to resolve this issue.  I plan to bring the white shirt for them to try one more time and I also told him that, going forward, I plan to bring all my clothes to his dry cleaning business. Bob certainly has earned my respect and business for being such an honest and customer oriented businessman. read more

I brought a special item here to be dry cleaned, a one of a kind handmade dress from Tokyo which was not cheap ($700) and is irreplaceable (only one item made). The dress was returned to me severely faded with clear heat distress, and what looked like glitter from another item melted into my dress (which is 100% linen with no glitter). My dress is faded and the fabric is oddly stressed and thinned in many places. To add to this, it's not even properly cleaned - the dress has lint and cat hair and fuzz stuck to it. I'm beyond saddened by this experience and would not return, and cannot recommend this place. I don't even know how you would fix such an error. The other item I had dry cleaned was a 100% cashmere sweater and it was returned damaged as well, the fibers were agitated and the fabric became puffy and fuzzy compared to before the service. I could have done a better job cleaning both items at home, without the severe damage. I was charged $54 for two items which were both ruined and neither were clean. It's especially heartbreaking because I worked hard to afford a few nice pieces of clothing, and wanted to take care of them the right way with dry cleaning, only for them to be ruined. I spent an hour trying to steam and iron a super heavy fabric curtain panel. 1! I didn't even see any improvement when I was done. Ugh! So frustrating! But then I dropped off all 8 panels on Friday at lunch, hoping to pick them up on Monday. To my surprise, I got a call right before dinner saying they were ready! Now that's what I call great service! I'm so glad I brought those curtains in - they saved me so much time. The ease and quick service was definitely worth the cost. Just bad. Paid in full for 6 items, no mention of prom suit pants not being included. Got home, realized no pants, and that the suit jacket and dress shirt were not pressed. Went back and asked for pants and press. Told that pants would be ready next day, three days after scheduled pick up. When I mentioned the delay the pants turned up but were not pressed. Bagged and presented like everything was fine. Big, obvious creases, wrinkles on everything. And lent on suit. I'm not sure they were dry cleaned at all. Staff challenged the legitimacy of my identity when I'd been in an hour before and gave my phone number. As if I'm trying to get a free suit press. There is obviously an approach to customer service that is not about what has actually happened. Treated me like I was the problem. So stressful and insulting. read more

I am writing this review specifically for the seamstress, Veronica. She is the in house tailor and let me tell you, she does FINE WORK! She listens, is careful, understands, and gives great tips and recommendations on what will look best. I once needed my pants taken in from losing weight and she just made magic happen. I didn't have to say a peep. She has done probably 20 items for me over the last few years and I only trust her with my stuff! Sadly I am relocating next month and will make sure I come back to see that she caters to all my tailoring needs in the future! Even if it means an airplane ride! Not only does she do great work, her demeanor is one that is hard to find in the Bay Area. She has become part of my week as well as the rest of the team at Martinizing. The team at Martinizing Alameda is always friendly and helpful when I come in. They are often very busy and still find a way to remember me and my account without me saying anything. Located in Southshore shopping mall, Martinizing is one of the closest and most convenient dry cleaners around town for me. Easy parking, and the storefront is easy to find on the outside near the patio. I usually come at non-busy hours so I can't speak for foot traffic, but they usually get to me immediately. Prices are kinda high, but their dry cleaning quality is very consistent and good in my opinion. Have had a couple things dry cleaned here a few times, and the staff are always friendly and happy to help. Their phone reminders of when your stuff is done and ready is also super convenient. When I picked up my large order, I had complete sticker shock. For about 12 items, it was more than $140. I resolved to learn how to wash wool and to never dry clean again. The thing is, they did a really good job. My sweaters were (at least temporarily) less pilly and everything smelled quite fresh. They log every detail about each clothing item on the receipt. I appreciate the attention to detail (and how helpful if something gets lost!). But I also felt like this was part of their price justification ... documenting when something was designer, silk, etc. Most of my items were either purchased discount or secondhand for not much more than I paid to dry clean them, which of course makes it even harder to swallow the prices. Surprise ending: I'll likely return with pilly sweaters and highly complex garments. But everything else, I'm experimenting with washing at home. read more
