Well it was laundry time to the point I was getting ready to start looking for my cleanest dirty shirt. It was later in the day and it had to be done so I went to my usual place, Washboard. In the process of doing my laundry I dropped a sock on the floor transferring a load to the dryer and this young lady picked it up for me and asked if it was mine. At this point even if it wasn't I would have said, "yes". So we started talking and when we were done here we went to dinner. After dinner we went to a local watering hole for drinks. It was getting late and she mentioned all of her bedding is what she was washing, and was going to sleep on the floor that night since it wasn't entirely dry. Well, being the perfect gentleman that I am, I let her know I had a perfectly good bed at my place. Well!!! I'll leave out the details but we are having breakfast this morning. ;) So about the laundry place. This place is nice as laundromats go. It is clean, most importantly, and the clientele have been polite. There are plenty of washers and dryers in all sizes for your needs. Baskets to move your clothes around and nice folding tables or should I say tables to fold on. There is an ATM and 2 change machines. I don't go to other laundromats so I really have nothing to compare it to. It's nice enough to continue going to for laundry and dates. Definitely a 5 star place and night. The whole place is kept very clean, especially when you consider how many people wash their dirty laundry here each day. Maybe all this is due to the active participation of one of the owners, very thoughtful and generous. Real quarters are required throughout, except credit and debit cards can be used on some washers and dryers, not the vending machines. How simple and convenient is that? Having limited parking on-site, the free street parking provides parking options to the curbside metered spaces. The machines work and don't double charge you like Lincoln Coin Laundry. People who use the laundry have been nice. The location has long hours so it does attract people with few places to go. There is a restroom on-site and it is occasionally gross bc someone took a bath. The vibe here has always been peaceful until...today someone took out my wet laundry from the dryer and put theirs in, using my time. I confronted a man who's clothes were quite dry, had put his wash in a few minutes after me, and his clothes were in the dryer that mine had been in. He blamed another customer who was also washing her clothes a bit after mine. I dropped it because I didnt know the facts. I left and didn't guard my laundry which we shouldnt have to do but it is the world we live in. Someone needed the $3.50 to dry their clothes. I would have bought their dry time. It's the extra hour that I'm definitely sitting here while laundry dries again that's most annoying. read more

A good place to do your laundry while you need to get other errands done! Looking ahead and needing to run errands around the Island City, and I see a big load of laundry that's waiting for me to be done - I know that I'd need to make a trek to Alameda to get that productivity going on! They are right smack in the hustle and bustle of Park Street, with so many businesses that's within walking distance - and ample street parking that's available! The laundromat only has three parking spaces; but don't let that deter you, since it's pretty easy to snag a spot around the neighborhood that's quiet & well, safe - in my opinion. The place is clean - with many machines to choose from, based on how much load of laundry you'll need to get done, in addition to having a bathroom for your convenience! Wi-Fi is quite strong, and browsing the internet on your phone/mobile devices makes the time go fast. In addition, as I've said that this establishment is pretty safe - I've left my laundry to walk along Park Street, to grab a bite and drinks, and bring it back to the place. Just make sure you clean up after yourself, since there are signs that there's no food/drink while inside the laundromat. Being responsible is key here! Quite convenient if you live in the area, especially if you'll need to get other things done. They are open early & close late. I just recommend to get your laundry done while the sun is up and out and about, especially during this time that we're in. Make sure to abide by the rules - social distance & wear proper face masks!! If you're lucky, you'll probably meet a friendly older gentleman (who I suppose is the owner), and will give you a few quarters to help you in your laundry funds! read more

I first came to Washboard when I had a bunch of sleeping bags and bedding to wash after a sleepover, and out of all the laundromats I've been to, this is my favorite. Pros: - THE MACHINES TAKE CREDIT CARDS! For someone smaller like me, it's a huge plus to not have to carry around tons of quarters. - Wifi and seats/benches that turn into tables, so you can work on stuff while you wait. - Three parkings spots in the back, plus ample street parking. - Owner will come and give out quarters from time to time. - It can get busy at times but even then, I've never had to wait for a machine. read more

Still a great place to do my laundry, much safer than doing it in Oakland, but there are like a couple ass hole folks here that have no regard for other people car, one dude slamed his door into my car, I was stuned and not even sure if I should even react. My new favorite laundromat! I live in fruitvale and do not have access to a washer or dryer at my place, so for the past few months I would take my laundry to a relative's place to wash. One of my biggest concerns in regards to finding a perfect laundromat was the safety, parking, and distance from home. Fortunately for me this place checked all the boxes. Husband, dog, and I love this place. The owner is responsive to any issues that come up. It's clean and with Wi-Fi it's easy to get some work done while doing my clothes. The park nearby is great for bringing my dog along for those walks in between loads. The restaurants + cafes nearby make it easy to grab a snack or drink to enjoy while my clothes are being cleaned. The cute add-Ons like an extra hanger, etc. make this place so personal. The owner Art is so sweet and polite about anything. I'm going to be honest i only came here for the reviews I don't even live near here, but since it's open until midnight I figured the wash house had to be big. It is not. I had to wait for washers to be done. There's not many big washers on either side. They don't have a big selection on soap or fabric softener. There is absolutely no parking which was also frustrating. Paid parking outside to with the meters but yeah it's safe to say i won't return. The older guy was in there washing the machines down and advised me not to leave my wallet on top which was nice but there are other wash houses not too far way bigger, seating is comfortable and places where you can fold. No onsite laundry attendant is ever present here. So if you place money in a machine that doesn't work your out of luck. The policy is to fill out an out of order slip and place it in the mailbox inside the facility and wait for the owner to mail you a refund. Art -- the owner is super friendly and nice, his cleaning man is also very friendly and does a great job at keeping the establishment clean. This laundry mat has a good amount of machines for your needs. Many dryers and I usually never have a problem doing laundry here. If there is any issue, Art is there to solve your problems. WARNING! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LAUNDRY UNATTENDED. Just had my duvet stolen from the dryer here. I had to pop out to pick up my daughter and when I returned, it was gone. UPDATE* After contacting the owner he reviewed the security footage and identified the duvet thief - she is known to the police as a persistent troublemaker and has been barred from the premises previously. I do want to thank the owner for his efforts. Obviously I take some responsibility for leaving the site while my laundry dried. About half the time I come in, something is wrong with the machines. Here's an example. The washer leaked the entire wash cycle. I've done service cards and placed it on the washer and left my info in the past, but the effort was a wash (no pun intended). I never got contacted or given money back. Plus there are no pens to write down what's wrong. I'll leave an out of service card on the machine though so the next person doesn't have to deal with a machine that isn't working properly. read more

The Washboard feels like a cozy neighborhood shop. Its not all shiny and new with everything symmetrical - its got new and old equipment for every size load and purpose. There are notes around from Art, the owner, and it has everything you need but forgot to bring. People are friendly and it feels safe. I've come here for years, but today the dryer "N" near the parking lot, declined one of my credit cards so I used another one but for some reason it stopped allowing me to add minutes on the dryer even though it would keep accepting my other cc every time I swiped. Really inconvenient, definitely some type of maintenance needed on some of the machines. I also exchanged some cash for quarters for another dryer and once again it was accepting my quarters and allowing me to add time until it just stopped, it took my quarters yet didn't increase my time for the dryer. Great laundromat! Clean, new machines, and quick thorough dryers!! I had a problem and called the owner and he restarted my machine remotely, it was my error. He came to the laundromat later and gave me extra quarters for my dryer, I wasnt even out any quarters to begin with. Easy parking on the San Jose side of place.
