This was my first time coming to this laundromat, and it will definitely be my last. The staff was extremely disrespectful from the moment I arrived. As soon as I got there, an employee walked up to me and told me to move my car from the front of the building and park in the back despite the fact that the front is public property and completely legal to park on. He gave me directions to the back, then proceeded to say I was "wasted," even though I was completely sober and could clearly smell alcohol on his breath. After putting my clothes in the washer, I went back to my car and then walked inside again, assuming there was a vending machine to buy something to drink. Instead, the same employee loudly said "Excuse me!" as if I was deaf, followed by "Hello, what are you doing?" I calmly told him I was trying to get something to drink. He responded by saying, "That's not a vending machine. You can get water from the sink," which was already unprofessional. Then he actually grabbed my arm, pushed me to the side, and said, "I just mopped." This was completely disrespectful, invasive, and unacceptable. No customer should ever be touched or spoken to this way. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. I do NOT recommend coming to this place. read more

DON'T BE FOOLED! The name has changed. This business is no longer owned by Art (the former Raiders player), and there is NO free drying during the holidays. It is card only, no coin changing or acceptance. I stopped going here long ago but I walk past often. It is kept clean except for the old, unused coin and other machines that have not been removed. Still much more expensive than before. The costs are not clearly posted as they once were. You can still contact the County District Attorney office if you are cheated out of money & cannot get a reimbursement. Please do so as it will help others as well as yourself. read more

2nd time using this laundromat only because our apartment complex laundry rooms are being renovated from 7/18 to 8/9, so will probably have to use this place once more for the mean time. Only gave this place 2 stars because of location convenience and late hours. Since I live on Buena Vista Ave so it's about 1-2 minute drive thank god. This laundromat is pretty darn filthy for Alameda standards What ticked me off was so many loads of left unattended in a lot of washers, can be a problem since time is of the essence, where do all of you guys even disappear to when it only takes 25 mins per wash cycle? Causing so much inconvenience for others in need of washing machines. I stayed to make sure wash cycle ends before i throw them into the dryer to dry and then leave the premises. Witnessed an odd homeless man in a beige cardigan and red cap just roaming back and forth, gave me weird vibes as he just kept circling around the laundromat when it was just me inside, keep in mind this was a little after 9pm as well on a Saturday. I had my coins exposed in a jar while doing my loads, afraid he was going to grab my coins and run, i looked him in the eye with a territorial look ready to throw hands if he tries anything funny. I walked to my car to put away my detergent, and this was his opportunity to grab some blankets from a washer next to mine and left the premises, thank god he didn't go through my stuff so this goes for you guys who love to leave your loads unattended in washers, don't act surprise when a weirdo went off with your shirt or trousers. The parking lot is full with vehicles in front of the laundromat and there is only one parking space available nearby. Social distancing is not conducive. We decide to head over to Rag's to do our laundry. It has been several years since we have done our washing here. There was an incident that happened then that caused us to stop doing our laundry here. One of the washing machines sprung a leak and water was flooding the floor. We had to take our clothes out of the dryers and we left. This time I notice improvement. No more raggedy machines that were occasionally out of order. Now the washing machines look relatively new and they accept credit cards (VISA, M/C, American Express and Discover). This laundromat is opened from 6 AM to midnight. Last wash is at 10:30 PM, last use of dryer is at 11:00 PM. There is an ATM machine Wi Fi, and a charging station for cell phones. Costly to use the charging station - 25¢ for four minutes. The only drawback is no vending machines selling candy, snacks and sodas. That's okay. There is a liquor store on the corner. read more

This location now accepts Apple Pay to pay for credit to use on a (free) laundry card or an electronic one on the app. Just can the QR code at the laundry card kiosk and it should prompt you to download Laundry Cat. You just load the electronic card and tap the reader on the washing machine/dryer. I'm very impressed by the technology upgrade, so much more efficient than swiping your card every time or carrying a bunch of quarters. I'm sure it's a lot more convenient on both the customer and owner's sides. Also, I think since it's new the owner's supervisors are walking people through how to use the new paying process. I met Brian, and he was so helpful, attentive, and very friendly. I could see he was very patient with some of the elderly customers as well. Anyway, I didn't think I'd enjoy doing laundry this much now, the new paying process makes this laundry mat perfect in every way. (Btw, don't over-soap, Brian showed me pictures of machines filled with suds that can cause the machine to leak out--if you only have "he" or high efficiency detergent, he recommends only about half of the normal amount you would put in) read more

Machines, if they work, are fine. Hours are convenient. However, coin op is unpredictable. The card readers are risky. I reported at least 3 machines that did not work, with no refund or response, even after we filled out the cards, marked the machines, and filled out the logs. We lost a bit of money this way. No response when we called the manager. Voicemails were not answered. It's up to users to report the machines, there's no indication of when the owner will actually review the reports or follow up. I've been coming here since pre-pandemic and loved this place. Loved that they used to offer tape to remember which machine I used, loved that the owner was always around and would give quarters to customers, loved that it had an ATM and offered card readers. But the pandemic and great inflation hit this place hard. The machines went from less than $5 a machine to $6.75 a machine. The dryers went down from 6 minutes to a quarter to 4 minutes. Tape hasn't been offered in months, a lot of the times the dryers are in disrepair, I haven't really gotten most of the card readers to work now, and I haven't seen the owner in years. There isn't an ATM anymore either since someone broke in and stole it. This place used to be packed with people, but now it's pretty bare. Sometimes I'm the only one there. Unfortunately because I drive from Oakland to come here for safety reasons, it's not becoming viable for me to keep coming. I loved this place and would love to continue supporting it as much as I can, but the rising costs have lead me to just pay my brother to let me wash clothes at his house now, which I hate having to do. I only come here when I need to wash all my sheets. EDIT: I just saw that it's due to the new owners now caring for the place that this place went downhill. It's a shame, it makes me not want to come here at all now. You have to take care of your customers to gain them, and I honestly feel like this place has gotten very run down. I've been going to this laundromat for almost five years, and it's aways been very clean with reliably working machines. In the past year, I've had to deal with almost half of the credit card readers on machines bring completely busted, dryer doors opening up mid-cycle and throwing my clothing all over the floor, and worst of all was a malfunctioning dryer that stopped spinning mid-cycle but kept the heat on. Many of my clothes and bedsheets were burned up and I'm lucky it didn't start an enormous fire. I'm extremely saddened to see this place go downhill and to be to find both a new laundromat and new clothes. read more

I normally do my laundry at home, but I had some large items I needed to wash which wouldn't fit comfortably into my washer. I chose RAG's based on its reviews, it was close to my house, and it had free, convenient parking. I went on a Thursday around 1:30pm and it wasn't too crowded. It's been a while since I've been at a laundromat so I walked around checking everything out. The first thing I noticed is that the washers now take credit cards. I tried putting my stuff into different size washers and decided that the 40 lbs washer probably worked best. It was $5.75 and the soap was $.75. I paid for the washer with my credit card, It took 2 tries, but it worked. I also used the change machine to get quarters for the soap and for the dryer. I had problems closing the door on the washer, but a nice gentleman waiting for his laundry helped me. The washer did a good job cleaning my items. Overall, the place was clean, the machines worked, there was plenty of baskets to use. and space to fold and put away your clothes. Also, nice clientele who help you when you need it. I would definitely go back if I needed to wash some things. read more

This should be a 5 star rating. The 30 pound washers are the best I. The area, despite going up to $4.25 a load. When you wash with hot, the hot water is hot. The 40 pound washers are not a good deal at 6.25. The dryers on 2 out of the last 3 visits have been iffy. I lost basically a 1.50, 75 cents and asked for a refund. I teach next to one of the laundry mats and said just drop it off at the office instead of mailing it. This has been the only disappointment. The phots are of the two dryers I had problems with. I don't live in Alameda but I'm always willing to drive out to do laundry here. If you don't feel like reading below, I feel you get the most for your money here: Laundry can get expensive and living out here, you need to save money where you can. The prices are reasonable for the different load sizes. They have a quarter machine and an ATM onsite. They have a good amount of washers and driers; I don't think I've ever had to leave or wait until machines freed up. Its nice to walk around the area for food or to go to the dollar store while waiting for the laundry to be finished. Im familiar with the area so its nice to go to Alameda Pizza for a slice or Dominico's for a delicious sandwich. Its also cool that the Bonfaire Market now sells Krispy Krunchy (stops serving after 7pm-ish). Sorry, irrelevant but I like food. The amount of rolling laundry baskets must be good, I don't remember a time where one was not available. Thought it was also cool that there is an Amazon Locker in the parking lot, if you needed to knock out laundry and receive a package. read more

I come here all the time to get my laundry done since my apartments washer/dryer are rancid. I usually love this place, however today I came to do laundry without quarters and instead swiped my card into the washing and drying machines. Upon reviewing my bank account I seen that for using three $6.75 washers, my bank account was charged $15 per machine per use, luckily only two of the machines actually charged me instead of all three. Even using the dryer, which mind you is supposedly 25¢/4 min charged me a singular $15 charge after only putting 52 minutes in total between two machines, costing a total of $3.25 meaning I paid almost 5 times the amount I actually swiped for. In total today, after a $6.75(3) + 25¢(13) = $23.50 worth laundry session, I was charged almost double what the services were worth for seemingly no reason. I haven't seen any signs specifying more expensive prices for people using their debit cards either, this was very disappointing today. I'm not sure about other people, but I can't afford to be paying $45 for $20 worth of laundry out here. If the charges finalize in a few days, I'll come back and edit my review but otherwise I'm irritated that this happened without warning. Edit: a little late but as promised I'll come back and say that the charges are revised after a few days but some of us really are out here on our last dollars and it was scary at first to see the extra surcharges without warning read more

I will never go to this place again. Two large loads of my clothing was damaged because their dryers left a stench of cigarette smoke on my clothes. I am not a smoker and the stench could not get out of the clothing even after rewashing. I regret the day I tried this place out. read more

I'm totally new at laundromats and this is my first and will probably be the only laundromat I'll go to. As a noob, I was able to navigate my way through all the machines without having to ask someone else for help. That's saying something. There's rules and helpful hints everywhere, all you have to do is read them. I believe the machines are different so you'll have to be cautious on picking the one that works for you. I didn't have coins so I used the card machines. They do have an ATM and coin changer here. There are lots of great working carts here for you to use. There's free WiFi and lots of areas to sit and chill while you wait. I won't be going anywhere else! read more

I had a ton of clothes I needed to wash and fast. It was either come here or go to my mom's and stay there all day washing everything with one washer. So I chose to come here. I came in at 10~ am on a Saturday, expecting it to be filled with people. Nope! I was one of only 3 other people there. Lots of machines were available! It seemed so easy here. I didn't have coins, so using a card here was a breeze! The owner of the place even randomly gave me three quarters for a free dry cycle. Super dope. Like I wanted, was in and out with 7-10 loads of clothes in just 2 hours. Would do again if I'm ever on a time crunch again. Only knocking off one star since it is a bit pricey to wash. a 20 lbs front loader will cost you $2.75, a 40lbs loader is about $5.75 and a 60lbs loader's $8.00~. I saw an 80lbs loader for $9~, but they only have two. Editing to add: I brought a white comforter that I use for my duvet covers. I've had it for so long that it's turned gray. I brought it here, and SOMEHOW it looks brand new! Will probably now bring linens and blankets here forever hehehe read more

Love RAG's Coin Laundry! Great machines, service, prices, cleanliness & staff. Ample folding space. Football legend, Robert Art George, comes by all the time and is an awesome owner! Accepts COINS and PLASTIC. WIFI available. Parking in back lot. ATM available. Single use items are well stocked when we forget our soap or whitening liquid. Extremely efficient machines. I have used $1000+ home washers and dryers. Even home 160minute cycles. RAG's is far superior. Come out completely clean in less than 25minutes. My favorite are the small front-loading DEXTER washer and dryer machines. (Photo attached) I have light loads, but less than 25 minutes for my drying. I have a lot of synthetic fabrics, and even without dryer sheets or anything, they come out completely STATIC FREE. I've never experienced static free with home dryers, regardless of dryer sheets or static balls. Only place I'd go in Alameda, I'm lucky to live so close. read more

I normally do laundry in Castro Valley but decided to do laundry here since I work in alameda, and knew I wouldn't have time during the weekend. Plus I notice the reviews on yelp were pretty good. There's plenty of parking in the back. My first impression walking in was "this place is just okay". But as I start looking for a washer I notice they were all dirty (yikes). Impressively they washed good. yay! Now time to dry and get on my way to work. Dryers did not dry well. I seriously spent $10 to dry 3 small loads. One of the dryers did not dry my clothes at all! Clothes was still cold and wet when finished. The other dryer seemed to keep taking my quarters but not adding them correctly. First time I added 4 quarters and only gave me 6 minutes second time I added 3 and it still did the same thing (rolling eyes). This place could really use some deep cleaning! Not just The washers were Dirty but so were the dryers and the laundry carts. Makes me wonder if this place ever gets sanitized. Overall I left this place disappointed. We usually wash at the laundromat on Otis, in the South Shore strip mall, but when we got there this morning, they didn't have any hot water! This was the second time that happened, so we decided not to wash there. We had a delightful breakfast at the South Shore Cafe next to the laundromat, so it wasn't a total lost cause! While we were headed back to Berkeley, I pulled over Webster and searched for another laundromat in the area on Yelp. Lo and behold, we were just a few blocks from Rag's, and it was sporting 4 1/2 stars. We found our way here, and from the front, it looks tiny, but once you go in, it's huge! Lots of different sized washers, and lots of huge dryers. We'll be coming straight here from now on! read more

Having to do laundry sucks. However, doing it at Rag's sucks less. Not only are the machines available and clean, consistently, but the prices are reasonable to. I have never minded doing laundry at this location. That being said, last week they went above and beyond. I put my clothes in the wash and took off to grab a tea. When I got back the floor beneath the washer was flooded. The person next to me had closed their front loader with an item sticking in the door seal. Which caused the flooding. As usual, I was in a hurry so I tried to fetch my items anyways. This resulted in me tracking water across the floor; I felt like a douche. At the same time the owner/staff came to mop up. He took the time to explain to lady what had happened and then insisted that I be able to continue moving my items to the dryers. If that's not amazing enough, after that he comes up to me and offers free drying to make up for the inconvenience. I refused, but wow. Just amazing service. By far, one of the best laundromats we've ever been to. Used to go to the one across from APD but since finding out about Rag's, we don't go anywhere else. The biggest plus about the place is that half of the washers and dryers take credit cards, a huge bonus since we rarely have cash with us. Rag's does have an ATM on-site and is easily accessible. No problems with lugging clothes around as there are plenty of carts to choose from. Washers and dryers do their job and are maintained very well; haven't encountered any issues for the last 3-4 years coming here. Free Wi-Fi is available and is pretty fast too. Nobody likes laundry mats, I think that's agreed upon by the majority of us that need to use them. With that being said, this laundry mat is by far the best I've ever used. They keep the place clean, safe and highly functional. A few years back I had put money into a machine that did not work. Management leaves a complaint form should you have any issues. Thinking it would not ever be addressed I filled out a card mostly convinced I was out of luck. A few days later I get an envelope in my mail with the full cash refund of the money I fed into the machine. Because the sum would be considered insubstantial by most standards, I was surprised that they took the time and energy to make things right. It demonstrates the respect the owners have to their customers and the daily operations of the business and that respect permeates throughout. read more

This is a lovely establishment on the west end ... super clean, many different load configurations, high efficiency, and with a huge parking lot.
