LaunderLand is clean, well-maintained, and has plenty of machines available--even during busier times. They have two change machines, which is super convenient, and there's also an ATM on-site--just note that there is an ATM fee. The couple that runs the business is very nice and helpful, which makes the experience even better. If you're using this laundromat for the first time, pay attention: not all the washing machines and dryers are coin-operated. Some run on a reloadable card that you can purchase there, so it helps to check before loading your clothes. A nice little perk--if you get hungry, there's a café right next door: Southshore Cafe. The washers and dryers work efficiently, and I appreciated how quickly everything got done. The space feels safe and bright, with enough seating to wait comfortably. The machines are easy to use, and the whole place is kept tidy, which isn't always the case with laundromats. Overall, a convenient and reliable spot to get laundry done without any hassle. This place does have a big washers! I like all the washers and dryers. I had been recovering from being sick and moving, so I decided to do "wash n fold" service. I thought it was a good service, however, somewhat expensive. The folding was done in way that left a lot of wrinkles in my shirts, but could have told them to fold in traditional tri-fold. They do allow and accept special instructions. Clean space and friendly staff! read more

Dryers do not dry. I had to leave with wet clothes I kept putting coin after coin and it was berely getting any heat. I decided to leave and air dry at home. One of them I put a coin in and the timer had started and the dryer never started I had to let an employee know and all she did was open and close door like three times until it started I had already lost like 3 minutes. Disrespectful management. Broken dryer machine didn't dry had to argue to get $9.50 cents back. Pointed in my face and told me I was wrong and he'd only give me half back. He refused to give my money back until I asked him if he needed a man, my husband, to come over here and talk to him. I'm sure if they did it to me they do it to many. Friendly owner was very helpful. More expensive than I thought, but I needed to get 4 loads done, including a comforter. Lots of machines to choose from - some take quarters, and some take a card you can load but only with cash. The machines come in different sizes depending on your load. As we were walking in with our laundry at 7:45 the worker told us they close at 9. Really? We have over an hour so unless your machines are crap it's plenty of time. He then reminded us twice they close at 9. Hey asshatt, I heard you the first time, I can read your fuc&ing sign and i can tell time. Can you tell I'm annoyed? Been coming here because it's convenient to do laundry and shop while clothes dry. However, I used to get about 6-7 mins for each quarter of dry time. Now, I get 3 MINUTES for the first quarter, then ONLY 2 MINUTES for another quarter. That's 5 minutes for 50 cents. I'll stay in the hood next time and get 7 minutes for 25cents. Pricing is outrageous. $20 minimum for 10 lbs of laundry. And $25 per comforter/ blanket. I was quoted a price of $26 for a wash and fold load of laundry that I dropped off. Price quoted was based on weight of the laundry.. When I picked up my laundry I was charged an additional $14 because 2 lightweight coverlets were included in my laundry load. The wash and fold laundry load consisted of 2 towels, 1 pillowcase, 1 pair of tennis shoes and 2 lightweight summer queen size coverlets, all of which could easily fit in one washer. Total amount I was charged was $40. So I was basically charged for two loads of laundry even though I only dropped off one load. Because they only accept cash, I had to leave and go to an ATM to pay the add on charge of $14 and get my laundry back. read more

My favorite laundromat on Alameda comes with lots parking, on-site attendants, and affordability. While my clothes are in the machines, I have often walked over to do some shopping (or eat). Office Depot, Ross, Southshore Cafe, Trader Joe's, and Safeway, to name a few. Parking lots for this business are in front and in the back. You will see roving security officers on a beat of these areas. The attendants that work here are friendly and helpful. They also conduct the collateral services offered to the laundry customers. It seems that the biggest machines provide the greatest economy. I get things finished in less than an hour using the normal size front loader. You can buy the electronic money cards, or use cash money, as some of the washers and dryers are equipped to take one or the other. Some customers here will chat. read more

They always return it with my cloths. This Laundromat is straight up a money pit. The selection of load size is extremely limited. If you want a really light load you'll have to use the home version washer instead of the commercial-grade one. This takes an additional 10-15 minutes until the final spin cycle is complete. We had bath mats we wanted to wash and dropped those in, it took 40 minutes while the commercial-grade washers took 20-25 minutes. The washers at Launderland do a poor job ringing out your close during final spin so, when you get your clothes, it's still soaked with water. The dryers take twice as long as other laundromats I've been too and you get fewer minutes per quarter. I believe it's 5minutes per quarter where other places are 6 or 7 minutes per quarter. read more

This place is totally filthy and MORE expensive than other laundromats in the area. The large washer I usually use was $7.50, compared to the $5 I am accustomed to paying. All the machines are dirty. We used three of them and one of them had a technical problem (low water level)...the attendant tried to help but didn't really care. This used to be a great place to do laundry, but it has truly gone downhill! The card machine only takes $5 bills and none of the quarter/change machines work. They were all out of order. I had to take my clothes out of the machines with soap on them and look for another laundromat. Oh and the attendant wasn't helpful reading his paper. When he did get up he kicked one of our laundry baskets and we realized he was barefoot - not pretty! 2 stars because the old Filipino guy that works here uses the laundry cart to take out the trash ALL THE TIME! Disgusting. I think they should replace all their carts or get shut down. He's also lazy, moves extremely slow, and is always so rude to everyone. He never washes his hands after handling trash so people who uses the wash and fold service instead of doing their own laundry...beware. There's a Vietnamese couple that work here as well, they're nice, efficient and friendly. The place is better kept than other places on the island. LaunderLand South Shore has the newest machines of anywhere on the island that I've seen, easy parking, accessibility to other stores (I seem to be at South Shore every day anyway) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they have machines that take a wash card instead of quarters. It's always been clean when I've been there, and they have two lovely, huge folding tables, plenty of carts even for busy days, a sink and a perfectly fine restroom. The attendant knows her stuff, though she's a little hard to communicate with sometimes - but a nice lady who always greets me with a smile. The only thing that would improve this laundromat is if a) you could load money onto your wash card with your credit card instead of cash, and b) if the machines could take both quarters AND a card. I'd like to use nothing but the card, but some machines only take quarters. Other than that, I love this place! read more

So this is my first time doing laundry at this location, I came in at 8pm on the dot to look at the price of the machine. Walked out to get my bag, as I am coming back the lady who works here is giving me a death stare! I'm smiling and I greet her, she in return shakes her head and says NO! I'm like hu? I'm so confused. I guess I was two minutes late, but so was the Chinese gentleman that came in two seconds before I did! Moral of the story, don't set foot in the laundry mat after 8:00! I concur, this is sweet. The pricing went up to $1.25 per lb. (or $1.00/lb. for 50 lbs. or more). I don't know what it was before but it was still worth it. I dropped off about 60 lbs. of our stuff (equivalent of about 4 full laundry baskets!). I had never done this before and didn't know how quick the turnaround would be. When the lady told me to pick it up tomorrow, I walked out, jumped in the car before I realized I had a huge, uncontrollable, shit-eatin' grin on my face. Not something we plan to do regularly, but it's a nice option when we are that super backed up. I also read that they have a free service where they will transfer your clothes from washer to dryer if you leave change at the front counter. That way, the advertising goes, you can start your laundry and shop for an hour or two and have your laundry waiting in the dryer when you return. read more
