I am so glad that it is so close to me and working with her on what I wanted it to look like and how much to take in was a very easy process. You are either allowed to pay for it when you drop it off or when you pick it up. I opted for paying for it when I dropped it off because I knew that in the past, it was always very professional and the work was top-tier quality. Even though they are super busy during this prom and wedding season, my dress was ready for me within a week. I call that amazing! Can't wait to bring more things here in the future.

Customer service goes a long way, and this experience was enough for me to decide not to do business here. There are plenty of places that can provide basic information with courtesy and respect. I had one pair of vintage Levi's cleaned after having acquired them on the resale market, and had challenges with getting them cleaned and thoroughly deodorized; even after three wash cycles, an overnight distilled white vinegar soak, and a direct sunlight air dry. After all that didn't work, I decided to bring my denim to Ideal for a final attempt. I dropped off on Wednesday and asked for Friday pick-up which the owner said was possible. I called on Thursday to see if an earlier pick-up was possible, and provided my ticket number to which I got a call back after checking on my piece. I was told that Friday morning would allow for service completion- which was fine. I picked the denim up first thing on Friday morning, and the scent I was trying to get out is completely gone. The quick turn around, friendly service and supporting a local business, Ideal is a great choice. For my one pair of denim, I paid $8. This is more than reasonable. Great service, quick turn around and much better than other cleaners. I will be going to Ideal for my pieces, and am interested in having a cleaning done on bigger pieces I have. Suggesting for anyone looking for a good cleaner to try Ideal. To note, with current construction in downtown Oakland, getting there is tougher than usual. And for new customers, push the door hard, it felt like it wasn't unlocked when I first came in. ahah

And the fact that it took them a week to get it back to me. Service. The guy at the store is nice. but his service is slow haven't received any of my items within the regular 2-3 day turnaround. I think it's important to try and retain as many regulars as possible but the fact that they weren't willing to correct the price leaves me to go back to my old cleaners. They lost 2 regulars ( neighbor and I ) all for an extra $27 .

The owner told me one of them is blouse, instead of a shirt so she needed to charge me double the price ($3 v $6). I pointed out to her that's a button down cotton shirt for women, not a blouse. She got irritated and told me she would charge me as a blouse anyway because that's how the contractor booked it. I told her that she has overcharged me in the past (more on that below) so I am not gonna let her do that again. She got very agitated and yelled at me for not mentioning it at the time. After we argued for a bit, she told me not to come again, picked up my shirts, walked towards the door and was going to throw them out. I had to stop her and pay for the dry-cleans at the same time. P.S. Previously, I brought a leather jacket for cleaning and fixing a small cut (smaller than a penny), she told me that the patchwork will cost 30-40 dollars but she won't know until the contractor actually see it. So she charged me the maximum amount the contractor could ask for any patchwork, which is about 70 dollars, and told me that she would refund me the extra afterwards. Refund? She never mentioned a thing and pocketed the money.

I totally understand that things happen but considering the price I paid for the service, I was hoping that the pick-up and delivery would be smoother. Update: After checking the clothes I am extremely disappointed, some of my clothes came back with stains that weren't there before and I am also missing some items. For the wedding dress, all I needed was an inch hemmed from the front, the back length was completely fine. Second dress I needed altered and taken in at the armpits. She said it was easy and no problem. When I came back to pick up my dresses, she hung them up on the hook up front and I went to open the zipper of the garment bag to look at them, she insisted that everything was there and rushed me out saying that I could come back if there are any issues. Because of the great reviews I didn't think anything of it, but now I'm kicking myself for not checking then and there. I went home and checked and the reception dress was fine. There was some loose thread where they took it in but I can cut that excess thread, and some dark spots which can be easily wiped off using a tide pen, but the wedding dress had pulled thread in two areas on the front. I brought it back and she said they'd fix it. When I went back, she showed the dress and it was not fixed. I pointed it out to her again and she said that was already there, I brought the dress in that condition, the dress is cheap fabric and that they were trying to be nice in helping to fix what I had done. When I told her it wasn't already there when I brought it in, she said I must have done it when I took it home and they are not responsible for that. She refused to refund me. The positive is that it's not that noticeable and it wasn't an expensive dress, but there clearly wasn't any care when working on this dress due to it being "cheap" and the fact that they didn't want to take responsibility for what they did is so terrible. Learn from my mistake - take videos of what you're bringing in so that there's no question of whether they damaged your clothes.

All of this seems avoidable by 1) checking if they are done before giving them out and 2) providing a phone call to alert me if things will be late, so I don't drive all the way there for no reason.

They gave me a one week pickup date and everything was ready right on time. When I came back for my items, I was impressed. Everything was clean, neatly folded, and there were no strong or lingering scents. The quality felt consistent across all my pieces. Their pricing is competitive with other cleaners I have used, so no concerns there. I will definitely be returning.
