Embarrassed at how long it has taken me to write this review since I have been utilizing their services happily since November. Hands down this is the best business I have been to in a long time. The family who owns and runs this company are incredibly kind and caring, and I am so thankful to be able to come to this place and trust that my child's clothes and bedding are cleaned with the utmost care; they even package his little clothes neatly in paper. Oh, the joy it brings me to spend my money here!! Side note: I got locked out of my car one day, and the family made sure I was able to contact AAA. The father even looked out for me until they came. This is exactly what our community needs. Thank you, Grand Ave Launderette Family! read more

My apartment building has terrible laundry machines so was very happy to find Grand Ave Launderette via Yelp. I just purchased a linen quilt and new sheets for the summer and wanted to give them a good wash so took them to GAL. Stopped by Friday morning and was greeted with friendly smiles and help opening the door. The owners sorted through my items and gave me an estimated price. They also offered me a discount because it was my first time there. The owner wanted to make sure I understood that the linen quilt may be wrinkly, and I was like, "I hope so!" Ha! We also discussed pick-up time. They noted they could get the items to me later that day, but I told them I might have a meeting and asked if I could pick up the next morning. They were very accommodating. Upon pick-up, all of my items were ready and packaged beautifully. I was so happy to have a freshly laundered bed without the headache. A quick note: the hours on Yelp are their typical hours, but they've adjusted them during the pandemic. Friday, they were open 9 AM- 3 PM. read more

Really lovely people who do a great job and go above and beyond every time, and treat every customer like family.

Please be patient and continue to support this place as they sort through their dryers being down!!! Update to my previous review: despite telling me the turn-around would take 5-6 days, I was surprised with a phone call 3 hours after dropping off my items that they were ready. They so appreciated that I was understanding about their circumstances and didn't want to disappoint me as a first-time customer. To say I was touched would be an understatement. These people are so kind - will continue coming back just to give them my business. I never write reviews on yelp, but after stopping in here this morning I knew I needed to! The washer/dryer at my current place is down and I wanted to drop off laundry somewhere local. I found this place on yelp and decided to check it out. When I walked in, the man and woman working worriedly told me that if I wanted to get my laundry done, the turn-around time would be much longer than usually (5-6 days rather than same day or next day). They explained that their dryers are not working to capacity and after several weeks of not being able to get them serviced, they opted to purchase a new dryer which they are waiting to be delivered (estimated to arrive in a few weeks). They wanted to ensure I understood the situation because they didn't want to leave me disappointed and profusely apologized for the inconvenience. They expressed how terrible they felt in not being able to serve their customers in the timely manner they normally are. Because of their kindness and transparency, I wanted to support their business and left a few items for them to clean that I didn't need to have returned ASAP. As small business owners, I can only imagine how stressed they are dealing with mishaps with the equipment they so deeply rely on for their business. Their kindness and transparency was more than enough for me to want to support them and will continue to do so! read more

This people tending this launderette are very professional, responsive to needs, on time, genius art removing stains, & so happy that it's a pleasure to walk in their door. This business is an asset for sure to our hood! read more

The best laundry - wash and fold service in Oakland. The owners are so nice and prices are reasonable.

LOVE THESE FOLKS! This place is great. Please support them. This is how businesses used to be: the proprietors know the customers. You walk in the door, they know your name. Things are written by HAND. There are no computers, no printers, nothing automatic. This is OLD SCHOOL and it works just fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Now, some of you youngsters - yes, Millennials, I'm talking to you - might find this place uncomfortable. You can't download an app to get your Dry Cleaning done here. You will actually have to TALK WITH A PERSON, FACE-TO-FACE. I realize this is a challenge for a lot of you. The idea of communication, in real time, in person, fills many of you with dread and anxiety. Suck it up, buttercup. Clear communication with people, even strangers, is key to success in this lifetime. This is a family business and they treat their customers like family. There are many Dry Cleaners in the area, but these folks are the best. You might find cheaper, you might find faster, you might find ones with better hours and newer technology, but you will not find FRIENDLIER or BETTER. read more

This place is the best. Highly recommend. The workers are so sweet. Everything was cleaned and organized so well.

This wonderful mom & pop & son business has taken such extraordinary care of me with my severe soap allergies and have gone over and above helping me with my cleaning all my clothes weekly. The washer's and dryer's in my apartment building or disgustingly dirty and never get cleaned. Grand Launderette is such a great find here in the heart of Oakland. Everything comes out clean, beautifully folded and I'm greeted with genuine kindness. I strongly recommend read more

Such a gem of a business! My washing machine broke just as my family was getting over Covid. We had 2+ weeks worth of clothes, sheets and bedding for a family of four. I walked in to this lovely shop after reading such a positive yelp reviews. I arrived at noon on Saturday and they very graciously helped me take my laundry out of the car and weighed the whole bunch. It was $81 which I thought was very reasonable considering they turned it all around in 2.5 hours. It was all perfectly clean and folded. They even helped me load it back into the car. It almost makes me want to stop doing my own laundry it was so great! They were very friendly and great sense of humor. Highly recommended! read more

Amazing service, super friendly staff, and great cleaning. Had my tux cleaned and it came out perfect!!! Thank you Grand Ave Launderette - I will be back! read more

Great wash & dry services! I came in just after I moved to the neighborhood and realized the new digs didn't have a washer/dryer. They were kind and helpful and even had my laundry back to me in four hours! Highly recommend read more

Great local launderette! They are really struggling right now with COVID; their business is really down and I hope we don't lose them from the neighborhood! I brought bedding and they did a great job! Highly recommend! read more

I love this place. I can drop my laundry off at 9:00am and get it back noon. It's a family own business and they are the kindest people. I highly recommend you use them for all your laundry needs read more

This is a wonderful service, at very low prices. We have used them for at least 10 years, primarily wash and dry for bedding and towels that are too big for home machines. They deliver when they promise, they listen carefully to what you want. Quite limited hours but the staff will work with you. Please support them! I believe the pandemic has cut into their business greatly. read more

These folks are great! They always pay such close attention and care with my clothes. I've tried many laundry services and this one has by far exceeded my expectations. And they are consistent each time I bring my clothes in. (Plus let's face it turning over your personal laundry to someone is a vulnerable experience. I mean ya know, they're literally cleaning your dirty laundry!). And every time they are respectful and nice and always make me feel good about my clothes. Not to mention their prices are so reasonable! I am very picky and discerning when it comes to writing Yelp reviews, which is why I'm so glad to send this positive review for Grand Ave Launderette. read more

I met this family in 1983 when I opened Galleria Scola on Grand Ave. down the street from them. I was commuting from Noe Valley to Oakland when there was a "reverse commute". It was such a relief to pick up clean folded clothes at the end of the week without spending hours in a laundromat. I feel very fortunate to share the Grand Lake business community with them. They are hardworking, generous, kind people who renew my down comforter to the original fluffy, fragrant white cover that keeps me warm at night. read more

A small business that really cares about their craft and their customers. I appreciate the careful and thorough job they did mending my pants. They are humble, dedicated, and super friendly. Recommended! read more

This is my new favorite laundry/dry cleaning place. The couple that run it are so nice, and very quality-oriented. They inspected all our clothes when the dry cleaning service they use sent them back to make sure they were well-cleaned, send some back to be cleaned again, had it all ready on time, and showed each piece to me when I came to pick them up. Prices were reasonable too. Glad to have found this place. read more

Great service for wash and fold. Unlike laundromats that simply happen to offer wash and fold, grand ave launderette will actually hang dry items and they do a very good job of keeping track of everything. I've had issues with other laundromats wash and fold services - detergent stains, lost items, bad customer service - but this place is amazing and the price is comparable to the other places. Everything is always perfect and the people running it are very nice! I love that they wrap the clean clothes in paper instead of plastic. Haven't tried dry cleaning yet but I plan to keep going back here for wash and fold! read more

My washer was out and the laundry was piling up. I decided to give wash and fold a try and was delighted! Not only did my laundry come back in very satisfying folded squares but the team at the laundry was incredibly kind, thoughtful and efficient! I dropped off at 9:30 and had back by 3:15 - they stayed to get it done because they because they knew my washer was out! read more

Love this place. Edward is so kind and helpful. They really helped me out when I wasn't able to do my laundry for a long stretch due to medical issues. Now I just go because it's so convenient, everyone is so nice, and it just takes another item off my to do list without a second thought. It is conveniently located and this place has been in business for a long time. So they must be doing something right! I highly recommend. read more

Having just moved in to our Lake Merritt apartment, we desperately needed to do laundry. 2 weeks in to our living here....still hadn't done it. Our laundry in the building apparently is "broken", which means there is some trick to getting it to work, and we haven't learned it yet. Sooo, in need of a clean pair of underwear, we looked for the closest fluff and fold, and found this place. She is great. She was slow today, so we got lucky and got the same day service, even though we brought it in past 11:30. 2 HUGE ikea bags full of laundry, all for $33. Maybe I wont learn how to use the machines in my building, and just stick with this place...Highly recommended. read more

I have used them for years, and have been delighted. Very personable and respectful and high quality work. I bring them my shirts, dry cleaning and comforters. I have tried other cleaners on Grand and elsewhere, and either have had problems with those shops or they were impersonal. This place is small and a mom and pop shop -- the kind of businesses that help create the sense of community that helps Grand Ave feel like home. I know they send some stuff out rather than do everything on site. However, they do not disappoint. read more

After much deliberation I decided to give in and test out fluff-and-fold. This place was incredible. I took ALL the laundry I had - lots of clothes (including 6 pairs of jeans), 10 towels, 2 sets of sheets AND a comforter. I was expecting it to be over $100 but, it wasn't! It was $86! And the woman who works there is SO nice! I think I might have to make this a regular happening... read more

After a vacation to South Africa I was sold on the wash and fold concept and was so excited to find a great one in the neighborhood. My husband drops it off on the way to work and I pick it up on my way home and they even fold my underwear! They have always done a great job on everything we've brought in and are thorough pocket checkers which is good for us. Great service and a great value. read more

Fantastic small family owned business. Very trustworthy, friendly, and laundry always comes out very clean!

Great service. The family that operates it clearly carea. I've been using them for 2 months now and haven't had an issue yet.

Pretty efficient place - have my last minute drop off laundry done on same day. Prices are comparable to other fluff and fold facilities in the area. Dry cleaning prices are comparable as well. Will update this review once I utilize the dry cleaning service read more

We regularly bring our clothes for wash and fold. The store owners are very friendly and warm, they always love to see our baby (she is cute, we agree). The folding and washing is also really well done, prompt, and fairly priced! You can't go wrong. read more

***cash only****Closed Sun & Mon**** So I wasn't feeling well the other day and called in sick. Even though I wasn't feeling the best, I didn't want my day to be unproductive, so after staring at my pile of laundry and reading what other Yelpers had to say about this place I decided to give it a try. I called at about 9:30a, to verify the price of the fluff 'n fold($1/lb) and to see when my stuff would be ready if I brought it in that day. I was told that if I brought t it in before 12, I could pick it up before the end of the day. Woohooo. That was music to my ears. I packed up all of my jeans, work pants, some tops, and 2 sweater coats and off I went. I found it with no problem, right across from Safeway. I ended up having 33 lbs of stuff. I asked that my sweater coats just be laid to dry. I went back at 5:45p and my clothes were folded in nice lil blue squares. It was like Christmas, unwrapping all these clean clothes. My two sweater coats, were damp, but I expected that since I asked for them to be laid to dry and not put in the dryer. I haven't put all my clothes away, yet, but what I've worn out of my bundles are great. I haven't noticed any shrinkage or any funny business(missing buttons, etc). As I type this and spy my pile of towels, I'll probably be back there to finish up my other stuff tomorrow. Yeah, I'll be back for sure, but i don't know if I'll take my undies there. It's one thing to have someone else wash my pants, but my pantIES that's is a little too personal for me. read more

I took three items of clothing here for dry cleaning. When I received my items back the dress was damaged. It was the first time it was ever cleaned and I have not owned it long enough to have done any damage to it. The jacket didn't look cleaner and though I appreciate they did not lose my items, I know they were mine because they wrote my last name in a piece of paper which they stapled to each item of clothing. I for one do not enjoy having 6 staple holes in my rayon fabric pants. Maybe they're good for laundry, but don't take your dry cleaning here. read more

I walked in happy to pick up my new freshly dry-cleaned clothes. Assuming it would all be fine I collected my items, paid and left the store. When I came home and inspected my clothing... my little black dress has a a different shimmer to it, the color is a little off. My black coat had some white fluffs stuck on it, and hair?!? My skirts and vest turned out the same as before... but I'm a little upset about my dress... On another note, they're pretty cheap, I guess you get what you pay. $3.50 for shirts/skirts/vests and $7 for coats/dresses. Perhaps, dry cleaning isn't really their thing, but it seems they're good with the laundry. read more

I'll be brief. I just love these guys. They say they missed me when I don't show up for a few weeks, they always know who myself and my husband are. We take our laundry in on a weekly basis and are always thrilled when we get back are beautiful piles of freshly clean laundry. Great pricing, great customer service, great overall experience. Yay for easy. Yay for friendly. Yay for cheap. Yay for local. Thank you guys! We're busy professionals who would be lost without you. read more

Probably a great spot for wash and fold. Decent for dry-cleaning but CASH ONLY.

I started bringing my massage sheets here about a year ago when the dryer at my apartment needed repair. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I now come here 3-4 times a week. Every time is a joy. Everything is cleaned, folded, and packaged beautifully. I feel like I get the royal treatment - don't want to say how because I don't think it's possible to treat everyone as well as I get treated - but somehow I suspect most everyone who comes here probably feels the same. Try it for yourself. And while it does cost a little more than doing it yourself, they are very reasonably priced - I have compared other places. And it frees up a lot of my time which is invaluable. Allow me to say "Thank you Donna." read more

I love this place because I hate doing laundry. Its $1 a pound of clothes and that sounds expensive but a huge garbage bag is usually $40. They seperate and fold everything nicely and wrap everything in paper for easy transport. The family that runs it are really nice too and they always have things ready in 24hrs. They will use any detergent you bring in if you have any special requests. Step yo laundry game up son! read more

Awesome. They had a full bag of my laundry washed and folded in less than 24 hours.... and for less than $25. Never doing my own laundry again. It's the worst and this place is the best. read more

I've only used these guys a couple of times, but so far they have been great. They are extremely friendly and helpful and their prices are reasonable. I needed to get a button sewn back onto my pants and they did it on the spot for free. Even though they send it out, I use them mainly for dry cleaning because they do such a good job. They got a stain out of my workpants that I swore was going to be impossible to remove. Of course, if you need your dry cleaning the day-of or the next day, these guys won't work for you, since it usually takes about 2-3 business days to get your clothes back. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong picking this place. read more

I only trust this sweet lady to do my laundry and small alterations when needed!! Excellent service every time, she remembers me and my husband, I rarely get that kind of service these days (not trying to throw shade, I'm just saying times are hard and this service in a big city is few and far between). HIGHLY recommend, especially if you live in the area. Just treat yo' self. read more
