I believe this laundromat must be under new management because the customer service has gone downhill. Several machines are either barely working or completely out of order. There is a large hole in the ceiling, and the dryers are no longer getting hot. Today was my last day patronizing this establishment. I brought my concerns to the attendant on duty, specifically that the dryers were not heating properly. Instead of addressing the issue, she was rude and dismissive and told me to continue putting my coins into the machine--which makes absolutely no sense when the dryer isn't working. Between the poor maintenance, unsafe conditions, and unprofessional customer service, this place is no longer worth the time or money. Highly do not recommend. read more

I've been lazy about getting my washing machine fixed so have been taking my clothes to the laundromat. There are two I generally frequent but one was closed the other is a bit further so I saw this one was now open 24-hours. If I can help it, I'll never make that mistake again. Beside the rat that greeted my on arrival, the space felt cramped, the machines kind of were dingy and it just didn't feel ver secure. The guy that was sleep with his chips crumbled at his foot, woke up retrieved his clothes and upon exit fell all on my car trying to make a short cut where there shouldn't have been one. If the place is 24-hours they should have a guard or staff there in that location. read more

I've been coming here for years. In some ways it's improved, in others, it's gone way downhill. It can be clean--they've upgraded the machines at least twice (with pandemic savvy card readers now on all the machines), and a few attendants push a wiper and a mop, but they get a lot of traffic and even the diligent attendants can't be on top of it. It's hit or miss. When it's a miss, it's filthy and depressing. Clientelle is generally fine, but there are also regular ranters who can seem intimidating. Lot's of people outside, begging for change, drinking from paper bags. Most recently, over half of the folks doing their wash late at night were not wearing face masks, while many of the rest weren't wearing them properly. It's October friggin' 2020! read more

When Covid first hit I saw them wiping down counters and machines but it looks like they've abandoned that entirely. There's two doors but they blocked off one which is stupid. But here is my issue- the night manager threatened an obviously disabled patron and their service dog to a physical fight. I'm not joking and I wish I was one of those people to pull out my camera and record it. As the disabled customer attempted to explain what the purpose of the dog was he became louder and verbatim said "I wish you would call the cops. We don't need the cops I handle my own. I'm not your child you don't know who you're fucking with" As the disabled patron dared him to call the cops because he knew what would happen (i.e., nothing to him but the night manager would have been in deep shit) eventually the man and his service dog left. Congratulations. You've stopped to an all new low of running disabled people out of your business. My schedule doesn't allow me to do laundry in normal hours but I think I'm making that trek to Berkeley from here on out. This is my FIRST and LAST time EVER coming to this facility. The managers actions are completely out of line and I hope everyone who sees this decides to go elsewhere. If these are the type of people who run this place or are hired you should never want to do business with them. What I and several other people witnessed tonight was nothing short of discrimination. Looks to be patronized by lots of families and singles in the area. Plenty of equipment which is good because there are plenty of customers. Lowest priced place I've used too. It was $2.00 for my one load of wash plus $.75 to dry it. Good deal. BTW, I found this place on Yelp. There are quite a few facilities in this area but Advantage was highly rated and, it turns out, deservedly so. And! They offer free Wi-Fi. :) read more

Overall, this place is great! I use the wash and fold service and I like it primarily because it saves me time and they're open 24/7. I often drop off 25-40 pounds every couple of weeks and pick up a couple days later. The manager Rocio is great, she is very friendly and is very attentive to any special request you need regarding your clothes. For the most part the other staff know how follow directions and get things right. Pros: 24/7, mostly clean with wifi but I only mainly use wash and fold and request the manager to give instructions to her staff. I go to them because they are open 24 hours and since I work the graveyard shift that's necessary a lot of the time. Several times I have been cheated by the machine whether it be the credit card machine or the laundry machine itself. When I put in requests to get my money back I get no response - nada. Now the location is closed because of damage caused by the unrelenting storms at the beginning of this year - or so the sign on the windows says. First of all, the phone number they left on the sign to call for information was the wrong phone number it was some nice gentleman that was getting 50,000 calls a day because they put one number off. Accident? The gentleman said it had been happening for a few weeks so I don't see how they wouldn't know that the wrong number was written on the sign but this is all speculation. (I changed the sign to the correct number so I hope they're getting inundated with angry phone calls now.) right now the thing I'm most upset about - and upset is an understatement - is that I have cash value on my FasCard which is a system of payment that they encourage you to use at their location. Not only do I have value on it I loaded it once they had already closed not knowing that they were closed so they allowed people to continue to load remotely even though they knew they were not open! I have sent emails, I have made phone calls, I tried anoother location in Hayward that accepts Fascard - all to no avail. I'm not getting any phone calls or emails returned to get my money back and I am not able to use it at any other location because apparently it's only good at the location you originally purchased it from. My next step is going to be legal if they don't take care of this issue soon and if anybody else out there is having the same issue please speak up! How much money do you think is out there on peoples cards unused? What if they don't re-open? (Which if you go to the website it's kind of looking that way because you can't really navigate it without it saying error.) If they don't reopen there is probably a small fortune that they will pocket if nobody speaks up and makes them do right by their customers. read more

This is hands-down my favorite laundromat in the Bay. It's open 24 hours, there's always an attendant on duty, the prices are reasonable, and I've never had a problem finding a free washer or dryer (even during the busy hours!). Add to this free wifi, and a 7-11 right next door, and I'd say this is quite possibly the best laundromat ever! The only quibble I have is that the parking lot is tiny and I often end up having to park in the neighborhood and make a bit of a schlep with my laundry bags. Yes! Washing Machines that accept credit card? Am I dreaming? Did this finally happen? Yes. Isn't it 2013 (almost 2014)? Yes. Finally. A laundromat that gets it. Please note: only washing machines accept CC. You still need coins for the laundry, but the laundry machines are very effective. Just don't cram too much stuff into the dryer - your stuff will take forever to dry. A lesson my fiancé has taught me over and over again - I think it's finally set in. Cleanliness: This place is clean! Pristine! I might even eat my food right off of the folding counters. Just saying...it's that clean! Bottom line: This place is awesome. You can literally finish multiple loads in 1 cycle with there HUMONGOUS washing machines in the back. Mixing colors isn't really an issue for me - the only whites I have are socks and few pairs of undies (this might be TMI, but we're all family here on Yelp!) I had laundromats closer to me, but the fact that advantage has a lot of parking it made me want to go there. It was a great decision because the woman working there was so sweet and helped me bring in some of my laundry. The cost of the machines isn't expensive either. Then one day I came in to get my clothes out of the washer and there was a man sitting on top of it, licking his palms in a fascinating little rhythm: Right palm, left palm. Right palm, left palm. It's clean, open all hours, and there are always quarters in the dispensers and magazines in the rack. Cheapest washer=$3 (ok for small loads but I don't know if a sheet set would fit) There are also $4, $5, $6.75... washers Dryers available for $0.25 per 4, 5 or 6 minutes (based on size of chamber). 30 min on the smallest one was good enough for a set of sheets. read more

However, if you land a dryer that is not working properly, you can spend over an hour drying and still have your clothes damp. Tip#1: Happy hour 12am-5am means 25% off. Tip#2: When you use your card at any of the machines, they place a $20 hold on your account *every time you run it... so make sure you have sufficient funds in your account if you're using debit... i.e. $80 for, say, 4 loads. read more

They bought new machines, remodeled and are vigilant about keeping their business family friendly. The team, Rebecca in particular is personable, engaging, extremely attentive to the needs of its customers and the facility is always kept pristine and clean. The facility is very well located with private parking, and one feels safe at all times, as Rebecca and her team are always present at the facility. The machines are well-maintained, and in the rare instance, that a machine is not working properly, inserted coins are refunded immediately. I really almost don't want to write a good review of this place because part of what I love about it is that it's never so crowded that I get all aggro and refuse to go in. Well, it is occasionally, and actually increasingly so, since it seems that people are starting to discover that it has suddenly become awesome. I remember going to this place a couple of times right after I moved to Oakland from Berkeley, and being appalled that they wouldn't let me use scented dryer sheets**. I remember that there was some woman who worked there who seemed to be pretty mean, and that the whole place seemed a little janky. But there was a bar right across the street, so I could go have a beer instead of sitting in the laundromat, which at the time was quite novel to me. Once I settled in, I started going to A Laundromat on Piedmont, because its proximal bar was even closer, and cuter people did their laundry there. Then, for a while, I did my laundry at this other little hole-in-the-wall place (that seems to have since disappeared off the face of the earth) because it was always empty and was easier to park in front of, while still being on Piedmont. But NOW I have found laundry heaven. I don't know how I ended up here again, but it was right as they were starting their remodeling, and shit, Advantage just *glistens*. All the machines are brand new, the woman who works here now is super nice, there's parking outside and a 7-11 next door. If it only it had Ms. Pacman, it would be the most excellent laundromat in the universe. But it still has a bar across the street, so if I really got that bored while laundering, I could go play with the jukebox. **Now I use DryerBalls, as seen on TV. read more
