Oh my goodness this place is ridiculously overpriced and clearly under new management. I used their wash and fold laundry service for years but today is my last time. I came in with 2 king size comforters and they said it would be $40+ per comforter. So since I was there already I figured I'd just wash them myself. They suggested that I wash in the 6 load washer and agreed. It said $8.50 per load until I selected hot water then it went up to $10.50 So now we're at $21 to wash both. Then I get to the dryer and realize that you only get 3 minutes per 25 cents, which ended up being $7.50 per comforter On the plus side it's clean and quiet Still unbelievable $36.50 to was and dry 2 comforters!!!! This laundromat is on College just below Broadway. The interior is very clean and organized, with washers of 3 sizes, small to large. There's a vending machine with snacks, drinks and small packages of laundry soap for one dollar if you need soap. The price is kind of steep, about 7-8 to wash, but that's probably average cost now. Machines work well and there's an excellent coffee spot right across the street! always a plus...... Really sweet family-run laundromat. I've been coming here for wash & fold for years. Friendly & honest service, clothes are clean and neatly folded, prices are reasonable, We almost always have a little chat when I stop by. It should be noted that the self serve laundromat is CLEAN and doesn't feel sketchy at all, which I know sounds like a low bar but a lot of laundromats in the east bay are straight-up harrowing. I took my washed clothes to Sunshine to dry only to be told I could do it this one time but they have a policy that you can't use their dryers unless youve washed your clothes there. WTF? This is my first bad Yelp review. I'd been coming to SunShine Laundromat for about 6 years for Wash & Fold. Convenient location, drop off, pick up, and they always did a great job. It is under new management and when I got my laundry back this last time 3 items of my clothing were missing. I called them to let them know and asked if perhaps it got mixed up with someone else's stuff. The female owner/manager took my phone number and said she would look into it and let me know. A couple of days later I went in to double check. Since it was new management I said I understood a mix-up can happen, that I had been a customer for 6 years and hoped this wouldn't happen again. This time the gentleman who was there said his wife had my number and that she was going to contact me. There was zero follow up - no call back, no apology either time I communicated with them about it, no offer to make things right in any way. That upset me more than the missing items of clothing and unfortunately, they have now lost a customer. read more

My go-to place for doing laundry. It is quick, efficient, and they have free WiFi so you can get some work done while waiting for your loads. See my photo below for the code, but it is hanging above where the staff sits. There are several different machine sizes ($3 for small and $5 for big for the washers. The dryers are 4 cents/min for large and 6 cents/min for small) and you can pick what works best for your clothes. If you don't have quarters, there is an ATM and change machine that you can utilize. Don't forget to bring a plastic bag for them. Additionally, they have a vending machine for detergent, fabric softeners, snacks and beverages. There is also a TV playing soap operas if you are into that. I usually just bring my headphones and laptop. The staff are quiet but polite. I always see the friendly Vietnamese lady working there who reminds me of an auntie. There are long tables you can fold your laundry and you are good to go! Just bring your clothes, detergent, something to entertain you, cash, and a few hours later, you'll be done. Forgot to mention- there is street parking (you have to pay during day hours) and sometimes I park at the Wendy's lot. Ideal to go after 6pm to avoid paying fees! read more

I also wasn't going to mention the fact that i felt like they were RACIST, but when i went back and read that factor in other reviews i felt like i should def share that that that was the vibe i got too, so just be forewarned. (She was very friendly/helpful to the white woman who was also in there.) The washers were clean and fairly priced but the woman who was working was extremely rude. I've gotten used to laundromat employees not necessarily being the most helpful so i chalked it up to the game but also deducted 3 stars for their behavior. This is the best laundromat ive been to. It feels very clean and orderly inside. I never once had to wait for a washer or dryer. Theres almost always a staff member on site. Only once did a machine steal my quarters, and since there is someone onsite he opened the machine and gave me my money back no questions asked. They have free WiFi. I used to really like going to this place. It's conveniently located and clean. The last time I went though one of the employees working there had his two dogs (who are so cute and will come up wagging their tails looking for pets) and he started holding one of the dogs down on his lap and aggressively slapping it on his belly, hard. The dog was making these horrible noises and obviously in distress. Besides it being abusive and wrong, something about it was really creepy. Both dogs have these abnormal bloated bellies and I hate to think of what he does to these dogs behind closed doors. It was so disturbing and disgusting. Sunshine is my new go-to laundromat. There are many machines, and I've never had to wait for one to open up. The store is clean and tidy, and they have a sink to wash your hands, as well as a huge thing of hand sanitizer. They only take quarters, but the change machine and ATM are both right there. They have free wireless WiFi and everything you need for self service washing your clothes. I'd give this laundromat a 4+ rating. Reasonably clean machines and facilities. There weren't a lot of open machines when we went, early afternoon, weekday. I think a number were taken up with the wash n fold service. But, we were able to fit our two loads in and there were a few still available for other customers. It was quiet and the facilities are in a good neighborhood with some street parking (metered), so really not a bad option for a laundromat. read more

This review concerns the poor hygiene at this Laundromat. Short Story: If you are allergic to dogs DO NOT wash your laundry here! I am allergic to dogs, washed my sheets here, and had an allergic reaction to the sheets. Owners keep dogs in the store. I brought a huge load of laundry here to dry, including towels and bed linens. I noticed (a bit too late) that the owners keep two small, furry dogs inside a laundry cart near the "front desk." After sleeping for a few hours in my newly-laundered sheets and linens, I woke up at 4am experiencing a pretty intense allergic reaction - the whole shebang, with itchy skin, eyes and throat, sneezing and snotty, very congested and irritated. I know this type of reaction, it comes (for me) from allergens like cats, dogs and mold (i.e. not basic seasonal allergies). Since I had dried all this laundry at Sunshine, all of it was likely contaminated. I had to re-launder two huge bags of laundry using special anti-allergen detergent just to decontaminate my linens and clothes at a different, more hygienic laundromat. Sure, having to re-wash my laundry was annoying, but the worst part by far was having to suffer through an allergic reaction that really made my life miserable for several days. I returned the next day to speak with the owners, not to ask for anything, just to tell them about what happened. I warned them that keeping dogs inside the premises (not to mention INSIDE a laundry cart) can cause allergic reactions, and that it could affect other customers in the future. Their response was ignorant: the man simply said that "the dogs don't go inside the dryer." That's not how pet dander and allergens work! Dander from dogs/cats can travel through the air and attach itself to surfaces in the room; direct contact is not necessary. Bottom line, it's irresponsible and unhygienic to keep dogs or pets in your laundromat. Your dog/cat is spreading its allergenic dander to your customers' clothes and linens! An estimated 15 percent of people have allergies to cats/dogs. The people at Sunshine don't care about that, and they continue to put their customers' well-being at risk. read more

Michael and his family have owned and operated Shine Laundromat for as long as I have known the establishment. I've always been extremely happy doing my laundry here, as Michael is super friendly and helpful, his kids are wonderful, and there are always more than enough washers and dryers to accommodate patrons on any day of the week. An unfortunate electrical fire had the place shut down for a few months, but they continued doing wash/dry/fold service, which I took advantage of to continue supporting the business. The laundromat is open again with all new washers and dryers, new vending machines, free soap daily, free wi-fi, and a great atmosphere. I've kept on with the wash/dry/fold because they do a great job for a reasonable price, but I am totally impressed with the new interior and would absolutely resume doing my laundry here self-serve if it came down to it. 100% recommended! read more

Now that I live in San Leandro (which is even farther out), I'll still travel to Shine Laundromat to wash clothes (till I get my own washer and dryer). 1. It is very clean. Not the hugest, but enough washers: $7, $5, and $3. 2. The woman that works here recognized me from my first visit last week. I appreciate when businesses do this. It makes the experience more personal. 3. The washers and dryers are BRAND NEW. I used to frequent a laundromat in Alameda; it was more spacious and had a plethora of washers and dryers (so you'd never have to wait on one) - but those washers had mold/mildew inside of the soap dispenser and on the inside of the washers. Disgusting. Shine doesn't have this problem. 4. Well-maintained. The floors and the countertops are clean. 5. It's quiet. There are no loiterers/solicitors. Not too much foot traffic. 6. Disclaimer - dryers only give you 4 min per quarter. But they dry well. So, for what you pay - you get. 7. Thai place next door if you're famished. read more

They either pretend not to understand you or just ignore instructions to charge you the maximum amount. Once I explained that nobody dry cleans a $20 shirt - they made no effort to make things right which means that this was the intent to defraud an unsuspecting customer. Definitely a good place to do laundry. When my stupid landlord set off a bug bomb without my knowledge, I felt like I wanted to wash all my clothes and Shine was the most convenient place for me to haul all my clothes to. The big washers near the front seem like a hefty price for a wash ($7), but they hold a TON. I only needed one of those plus another one of the medium sized washers. The dryers work super well too. They work on a timed basis so I just kept feeding in a few quarters until my clothes were all dry. Didn't take long at all! The woman working was very helpful and even helped me out to my car when she saw that I was washing so many clothes. I like to support a local, family-owned business like this place so I was pleased that the my laundry situation could be handled in just a couple hours. read more

The owners use this place to wash for washio or rinse those on demand washing services. It does not bother me except when you're the only one in the laundry mat and all the washers are taken. Sounds like they are making it harder for the people who come here to actually use the laundry mat. Part of the convenience is to wash multiple loads at the same time. When this hinders people from doing this because of your side hussle then it's time to go to another laundry mat.
