Was near our hotel and I clocked it the day before visiting, noticing their lunch/happy hour special. I stopped in for a small snack before it got crowded and ordered a Stella and a croquet madame, that included frites and a side salad (19 Euro total). The cafe has fun decor and has that great Parisian restaurant/bar vibe, with the bar facing out to the street from the entrance and little tables lining the inside and outdoors. I was in the corner by myself, clearly "l'Américain" enjoying a solo meal but the staff was friendly and checked in on me just enough - without ignoring or being too "hey how is your meal". This was one of the best lunches that we had in Paris. We were looking for something near the Musee d'Orsay. We walked a few blocks and found this gem. We sat outside and enjoyed a bottle of rose and got some classic, French comfort lunch food. We both got a croque monsieur and it was just so tasty. Then, we split some cheesecake and espresso. It may not look like much, but this is a great cafe and outside the main tourist areas. Though the menu also has descriptions in English, everyone here were locals, not a single tourist in sight. We sat inside to avoid the heavy smoking Parisians sitting outside. Our nice waiter barely spoke a word of English, but he was very helpful. €10 Croque Madame...best Croque Madame in all of France! €14 Ribeye steak and Frites...simple but delicious! €18 Bottle of wine...great! It was Day 3 for us in Paris, but this was first "good" French meal! We were just sad it was a long walk from our apartment, but its fairly close to the D'Orsay Museum. read more

My husband and I stopped in to Le Drop after a visit to the Museum Orsay. We were seated toward the back, and provided menus rather quickly. The waitress was friendly and had a smile the entire time she served us. I ordered the croque madame, which is a sandwich with ham in the middle, and melted cheese on top. It also came with a fried egg on top. It was quite delicious, but definitely on the heavy side. Based on some other reviews, I asked for the house mayo (and they use the word mayonnaise in France!) to dip my fries in, which I enjoyed (but I'm a sauce person and like all things sauce!). My husband had a different croque, but had order envy and wished he had ordered what I did. Le Drop is a nice cafe for lunch that was able to seat us right away which was nice. I would recommend them but wouldn't consider it a must try on your visit in Paris. read more

We were in Paris for the night and I remembered a cafe near the Musee d'Orsay with good croque monsieurs. Well, I couldn't find it but we ended up here. Excellent place. Many great things to say about this small cafe. It's close to the museum but fairly local clientele. The server was an extremely pleasant girl with excellent English and a gentleman (presumably the owner or manager) also checked on us. Great prices - croque monsieurs run just over 10 euros and come with salad and french fries. Free wifi available as well though it was spotty.. Excellent find, and somewhere I will be going back next time I'm in town. read more

We both had a croque monsieur. She had a traditional while I had a croque madame (with egg on top). It was everything I wanted it to be and more. After spending some time at Musee Rodin, I dropped by Le Drop Cafe for a latte break. The cafe was relatively empty but had a few regulars talking with bartenders. It is on a small street that feels a bit isolated but still close to Musee d'Orsay. We sat inside to rest our feet and to get away from the cigarette smoke (I'm allergic to it). Basically on this trip we were looking for any cafe that had a cheap carafe of wine in between visiting museums haha. Despite being close to a touristy area they had the cheapest. We were looking for lunch after out trip to Musee D'Orsay, and wandered into Le Drop. It was around 1pm and the place was nearly full. Seemed to be a very local crowd, but the waitstaff was kind about our deeply limited French. We each ordered items from the "salad" section. Mine was a very good and very huge vegetarian salad---delicious. My husband's beef salad was also good. But we did get a kick out of the fact that it was really steak frites with side salad rather than a really salady salad. Anyway, they both hit the spot, and the espressos we ordered were great too. After being turned away rudely by Le Vin de Bellechasse down the street we were greeted warmly here. Sat and had the best cheese plate, coffee and dessert. The atmosphere and service was so wonderful. I highly recommend!!! read more

If it were up to just me I would give this four stars based on my meal and the friendly service, but the disappointing salade nicoise my wife had drops it down to a three. We found this place thanks to fellow Yelp users - we are spending a week in the neighborhood and a search of local restaurants showed this as a promising place to eat. Based on one person's comment I ordered the Croque Madame - I don't know if I would agree that it's the best in France, but it was darned good, as were the tasty frites which were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside - perfect. My wife's salad was large, with plenty of everything that should go on a nicoise, but a flavorless dressing and what seemed like canned black olives just didn't make the grade. We topped it off with a bottle of Sancerre and it was a great way to relax after a long day of fighting the crowds at Versailles. Also accurate were fellow Yelpers comments that it is a local crowd - we were the only tourists in the place. It was happy hour and most of the crowd appeared to be locals in for a beer or a coffee. The two bartenders took great care of us and laughed along with us (not at us) as we slaughtered the language with our French not used in 20 years. Decor is nothing special, just a bar and some tables along the wall, but I would recommend it - just don't get a salad and we'll call it four stars. read more

On a mini vacay to Paris by myself and visiting Musee D'Orsay. I wandered into this cafe and sat down quickly. The waiter/server was a latin man who was very friendly and asked where I was from. He was inquisitive and asked me where I was from and who I was with. I told him I was alone in the city, exploring. He was one of the first people on my trip that I actually could have an English conversation with, so it felt very comforting. I saw the chef prepare Beef Tartare and had no idea what it was-- but decided to try it anyway. I ordered the Beef Tartare and the waiter warned me that it was raw. He thought I made a mistake. But, I wanted to try it anyway. When he brought it out I was so excited. After my first bite-- my mind was seriously blown. I never knew I'd be able to like raw beef. Ever since then, almost every cafe I went to, I ordered the beef tar tare. At the end of my meal, he invited me to his band's salsa club with Flamenco dancing, which again was a very sweet gesture. Just had a month in a Paris apartment right around the corner from Le Drop. Went there every morning for Café and croissant at the Bar. Only Euro 2.60 at the bar but more expensive if you sit at a table. Great spot for meals too. Really good food.. Lovely, friendly, staff especially Joyce, Stephanie and Maria. Ordered a medium steak at this place, turned to be a rare/medium rare. For being in that condition, it was completely black and no matter if you cut or scraped the black parts off, there still would be that coal flavour. It was a waste of time cutting the pieces as the food started to get cold. I was not the only one to cut the black parts off. A couple on a neighbouring table, did the same. also, steak was chewy. other dishes served did not look pleasant or fresh. would be a great place for Gordon Ramsay to visit, so he can improve this pathetic excuse of a restaurant. read more
