Italien cuisine? I am not convinced....
My French husband loves Italien cuisine. He went to this restaurant with a bunch of colleagues from work, and raved about their pasta with poultry and mushrooms. He was so amazed that he could eat it because he normally doesn't care for mushrooms. He said all the plates at the table and desserts were fantastic, and couldn't wait to take me.
Sadly, when we went together, there were no pastas on the menu, which changes based on what is in season and looks good at the market (a hallmark of a good restaurant if you ask me). In fact, the menu looked very French :( I was disappointed.... but not in the taste of the food. The food was fantastic and fresh. The snails were awesome... they are tied for the best I have ever had. The Baba au rhum was to die for... and I got to add as much rum as I wanted. The server brought a big bottle to the table and left it there for my pleasure. My husband had a wonderful poached pear with chocolate sauce and ice cream. The dessert menu was definitely a tough choice for us as many things sounded so good and looked good as they exited the kitchen.
The owner was very nice and attentive. He speaks French and English in addition to his native Italien.
I would like to try this place again. While we were there, we noted that the owner has many "regulars" (yet another hallmark sign of a good resto here). We also overheard he was having a hard time finding a chef to cook certain items well, which could explain the abundance of French cuisine. He might currently have a chef that can't cook Italien worth a darn!
