When you walk into this cafe, everything in the case looks delicious. There's a lot of pastries in the case and you literally would love to say, "One of each please!". But, of course that's just too much! I was really just looking for a snack and coffee on this day. I ordered a regular coffee and a banana nutella crepe. I took a seat at a table with my number and the coffee came out shortly. However, I was disappointed that the coffee (for a cafe) was not even close to being hot. That was a bummer. It was luke warm at best. I brought it back and they made a new one that, when served, was actually steaming. I wished that the initial pour - they would have thought to rebrew since it was clearly not hot. The second cup of coffee was good. The banana nutella crepe came out soon after. Some crepe places put the ingredients inside with drizzle on top. This cafe places all ingredients on top of the crepe. Overall, the taste was good, but my personal preference after trying this one is to have the ingredients inside the crepe. Again - personal preference here! We ordered food to go from here on a Monday afternoon and were happy with our order. We had 2 croissant egg sandwiches and shared a sausage roll. The croissants were perfect...nice and crispy on the outside and soft inside. They had a good size egg omelet, a generous portion of ham, swiss cheese, and tomato. Everything was flavorful and very filling. Just a heads-up for the Cucumber Sandwich - on the menu it states it comes with pepperoncinis, but when I took my first bite and saw the peppers, I am near certain they were actually pickled jalapeños and were VERY spicy. Not one who handles spice very well, I just removed them from the sandwich and still quite enjoyed it. The Turkey Melt and pastries were AMAZING as well. Service was friendly and efficient and the dog friendly patio was wonderful and comfortable. This cafe offers counter service with your order being delivered to your table. I've been in this spot a few times since I have a friend who lives around the corner, and I've definitely become a fan. While I've mainly only enjoyed the sweet stuff so far, they've got some absolutely amazing stuff. Even the atmosphere in the place scores major points. During my last visit I saw people of all ages here, from infants to the elderly, so clearly they know how to attract a clientele with the ideal look and sound. The staff are always friendly and have a good sense of humor. There are even exterior patio tables for those days when weather is ideal. The food items I have had so far, mainly crepes and French toast, have been among the best of their kind I've ever eaten. With so many options for each, I know I'll be busy for a while. There's even a rewards system where you can earn points with each visit and earn free food items and meals. I have yet to try the more savory/lunch type food here, but the breakfast and the sweets get an easy five stars. Recently we asked for a refund because it was taking way too long (30min) and their Manager (bald tattoo guy) suggested we should have waited longer and tried to get away with only refunding for the food and not the tip. The Manager doesn't have integrity, customer service, and is most likely the main source of their problems. The buckwheat galette was grainy and my friend didn't finish hers because of it. It took a while for our order to be taken and we were not greeted when we entered. Finally checked out this little French cafe in Southern Highlands! Le Cafe Du Sud is part of Le Cafe Du Vegas, which includes Le Cafe Du Val in Henderson. Kyle and I went on a late Sunday morning. He doesn't wake up until around noon on the weekends and he doesn't eat breakfast like 99% of the time, so I kinda had to force him to wake up earlier than expected so that we could go to this place. His parents' neighborhood is also just around the corner from here, about a two minute drive away. He didn't feel like dining in (obviously it was really busy for a Sunday morning), so we decided to take our food back with us. They have a really nice outdoor patio, however, so once the weather warms up a bit over the next few months, I want to come back and dine in on their patio. It's also very dog friendly, so bring your doggos with you! While waiting in line to order, I took a look at their fruity tarts on display. They looked really mouthwatering and delicious and I wish I ordered one with my sandwich. I ordered a tuna melt for myself and Kyle ordered a turkey melt. And since I'm a big coffee lover, I also ordered a cafe au lait. The hilarious part here was that we almost left the place without my coffee. We were walking back to my car with the food when I realized that I was missing something. That something was the cafe au lait and I immediately rushed back inside. I was really lucky that I noticed this before leaving. Both sandwiches were excellent! The Cafe au lait was also good but I had to add a bit of sugar in it on my end to level up the sweetness. It was also scalding hot, so I had to wait for it to cool down before drinking it all the way through. I can't believe this was my first time dining here after living in the area so long. This would've definitely been a 5 star review if it weren't for the service behind the counter. They were short-staffed when my friend and I came in at around 1pm. Clearly stressed and overwhelmed, we tried to be patient but when we finally got the chance to order I was shocked at the lack of customer service. Thankfully, the food was good and the cuteness of the place made up for the service. I will say, the male busser also did a great job being the only one helping tables and definitely tried his best! The foie gras french toast was just okay. The bread that the foie gras was on was huge, and it appeared that there was more bread than foie gras and the fixings it came with. It was not finger food, and I had to ask for silverware. The first food item was brought to our table and then at least 5 minutes past before the other food item was delivered. My food was getting cold trying to wait for the other entrée [a galette] so that we could eat together, so I slowly ate my food. Even eating slowly, I was about halfway done with my breakfast croissant when the other entrée was finally delivered.
