Apple galette and cafe au lait
    Heying D.

I really wanted to love this place but it was rather disappointing. The apple galette was way too buttery and sweet. It was too heavy and sat in my stomach for a long time and gave me a stomach ache. The cafe au lait was very diluted. Service was ok. Great outside seating area.

**** Cash only **** No card no nothing just Euro. Cute little cafe with French style menu . Breakage is great value .

Nice little spot for breakfast/brunch to get your day started. The coffee was amazing and the croissant was very buttery. The sandwich and avocado tart were very filling as well. The only downside was that the place is only cash only so make sure you have cash on you before going. Great quick service and has an "old school" vibe inside.

Went to Le Bol after a long day of walking through the city, and it hit the spot. I had had enough Austrian cuisine for the week and was looking for a good french meal. Le Bol did not dissapoint. I came at rush hour without a reservation and got a seat inside immediatley. I got the ham and cheese sandwich, a side salad, a glass of wine, and a bread basket all for under €20! Sandwich was great as the bread was extremely fresh.

Wonderful lunch & cafe, with even better service. Easy walk from the Main Street. The sandwiches are delicious. Very friendly staff.

One of my favorite places in city center. I would recommend to reserve a table or you would wait 15 min to sit. Very good place for salads and deserts. Portions are quite big. In summer they offer homemade lemonade and in winter time hot chocolate. Both are really good.

A great place for breakfast, brunch or a small bite in the afternoon! This small french cafe is located right in the heart of the city so it's super convenient if you find yourself hungry after a bit of shopping or sight-seeing. However, it is usually pretty busy especially on the weekends so be prepared for a wait or call beforehand. They serve breakfast all day round but they also have a fantastic selection of salads, baguettes and breads with different toppings. I highly recommend trying their salads; portions are pretty big so they are actually really filling. In winter, their onion soup is also worth trying. Service is decent and food usually comes relatively quickly. The ambience is nice as well. There is a large table located in the middle, that you can share with other people and smaller tables scattered around it. Definitely try getting a table outside if the weather is nice. The seating outside has a nice view of a little square with a fountain in the middle. Overall this cafe is definitely worth checking out! Although I wouldn't say the food is going to blow your mind and it's probably not suitable for a large meal if you are starving but it's a really good option for a light meal or coffee.

We stopped in here for brunch one day, and were not disappointed. The freshly baked breads and croissants were heavenly. The meats and cheeses were paired with delicious jams and honey, and are more filling than they appear. The atmosphere took a turn from the touristy streets outside, and offered a strangely relaxed yet bustling environment. The energy is definitely reminiscent of cities like Paris or Madrid, where you can find peace in a cafe amidst the chaos. It was busy, so we didn't receive a ton of attention, but our waters were never empty, and their signature coffee and lattes were fantastic. The menu is slightly on the pricier side, but well worth it in my opinion, especially if you go for a breakfast/lunch crossover like we did!

Terrible service. Don't waste your time because you're clearly wasting theirs. Many better options in the area.

The food is obviously French and I have to highly recommend the Croque Madame and the Croque Monsieur sandwiches. A fine salad comes with them and they are among the tastiest sandwiches in Vienna. I especially like the Croque Madame which is a Croque Monsieur with a fried egg. They usually have Piestinger Märzen beer on draught and that is the perfect liquid complement. Le Troquet is a French word for Lokal. There are many reasons why this is a very, very popular Lokal in Wien!!

As a non smoker, do not even attempt to sit inside. Its also quite loud (hard to have a real conversation without yelling a bit), a few tables, and few elevated round bar tables (small, enough for your drink and ash tray). Yellow low lights, but looks social enough. Outside you have a few tables with cover, but expect that other people will sit with you at your table if there is any space. Also smoking, but at least its outside. So why the 4 stars for a non-smoker (one star gone for that)? Excellent food and service, right price. Glass of red wine (Cote de Rhone, Bordeaux both available) under 4 Euros. I also judge very harshly a place by the croque monsiuer if they are so bold as to offer it. This is the standard "mom does not have any time to make you lunch so here's a melted cheese and ham sandwich". So if some restaurant dares to put it on the menu and charge me for it, it better be pretty damn good. (Note to you, if you ever find a place selling it to you more than for 6 Euros, they are really full of it.) So, there were a few options which I have never seen before for the famous basic sandwich, including vegetarian (not sure how that works...), all under 6 Euros I believe. I had the chevere, which meant goat cheese on top of the basic sandwich, served with a side salad with a light vinaigrette. De-lish. Top class, somehow almost gourmet, concluding that I would go back for it. and that's saying a lot. In terms of service, they really left us alone for the most part, but whenever we needed them, we could grab them, so it really was relax, as all true French places to eat are :) So overall, such good service and food, its worth overlooking the smoke if you can grab a table outside. Not a first date place, but somewhere to relax with a glass of wine and mom's high class sandwich after a long day.

Ultimately, really excellent dining experience highlighted by the amazing service and tasty beers.

I arrived at 10:30am but the doors were locked and no signs of life. So, I walked around - it's a touristy shopping area. I came back close to 11am and got seated immediately. I was the first person there. I had my tastebuds set to have currywurst since I won't be going to Germany on this trip. Austria is Germany's neighbor so, why not? The lovely server/ bartender gave me the breakfast menu which of course didn't have currywurst. I politely asked her if it would be possible to have currywurst. She nicely told me she would ask the kitchen if they can make it happen. As I waited for an answer, I was looking at the breakfast menu for a plan B but I simply wasn't feeling breakfast food. She came back with great news! They can start the fryer for the fries but it would take a while which was fine. At least, I was in a warm place in the middle of winter! My currywurst hit the spot! It was hot, had the right flavors, and the fries were fresh, hot and crispy. If beer is your jam, this is the place to be. This is a bar after all!

I felt like an Austrian princess the entire time, with staff on hand to catch a napkin before it fell to the floor and live piano music for the duration of our meal. Our meal started with a selection of freshly baked bread, two types of butter, and amuse bouche. Appetizers were steamed broccoli with bulgar/ smoked eel greaves/ etc and the lobster with pickled veal tongue in a lobster bisque and crispy rice with marinated palm hearts. Both were exquisite, especially the lobster. I savored every bite, especially knowing that it would be a rare find back in my new home of Berlin. For our main courses, I had the Pike Perch with asparagus/ citrus lemon/ saffron and my husband had the Arctic Char. For dessert, we opted for both the Milk and Honey. Milk was burnt milk ice cream with cardamom, dried barberry, Beetroot granule, peanut cream, roasted milk, Amaranth cress and crispy oat. Honey was cookies with Mara de Bois strawberries, dehydrated chocolate mousse, rose jelly, honey cream, and fried batter pearls. Both were, for lack of a better word, also exquisite. On top of all this food, the chef also sent out a couple of additional dessert bites, which went great with our decaf coffee. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, or if you just want to "treat yo self," Le Ciel is a great place for it. To date, this was one of the best birthday dinners I've had.

Eh....pasta was el dente but the pasta tasted sweet, like a desert. Not my thing. We ended with a dessert, which was an orange creme brûlée. Good but nothing exceptional. The wine they gave you was ordinary, no wonder bottomless. I was disappointed, expected much more in terms of flavor.
