I usually don't eat breakfast, and it also doesn't help that I think almost all breakfast cafes are overpriced. Not the case with Budapest Bistro. It's a charming, cozy cafe near downtown Vienna with friendly service, low prices, and an abundance of food with each order. We were fortunate that this was one of the few cafes open during the holiday season. My family loved the scrambled eggs with paprika. The horseradish with the frankfurters was my dad's favorite. The small basket of bread was hearty and filling. Everything added up to less than €7, which is amazing. There was about a half/half mix of both locals and tourists in the cafe, and the overall ambiance was calm and relaxed.

We had a wonderful healthy breakfast in this cute bistro and service was friendly. They serve delicious Viennese melange kaffee. I had two cups! Their Donau breakfast had sliced ham tucked into both sunny side up eggs with tiny salad lightly drenched in chocolate. I enjoyed the Paleolitt breakfast with scrambled eggs, salad and fresh fruit. Their breads were tasty served with orange marmalade and fresh butter.

We loved this cosy place so much! The staff was incredibly friendly, observing them interact with customers was a great pleasure. If you come with a dog, your pet gets a treat and a rug to lay down on (and not the asphalt if you are sitting outside). I had the Vegan breakfast and my husband had a Donau (Danube) Breakfast. I hope I remembered the name correct. The food was delicious!!!

The Budapest Bistro is a nice, small, and elegant Café with charm of the old times of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. The Café closes early (18:00 / 6 pm) but offers its breakfast for a good price and serves it all day long until it closes in the evening. The coffee is excellent and the pastries as well and you enjoy it surrounded by a vintage atmosphere. The owner is a nice Hungarian who likes to talk with his guests when they are not busy using the Cafe's free WiFi. The staff is friendly. The Café is owned and run by a Hungarian who is very nice and interested in that you have a great stay at his place. With Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

Very nice interior furnishing. The tables are from old sewing machines. The bakery items are great! The owner might be from Hungary and puts a lot of effort into decorating the food!

Such a nice cafe so close to home. The interior is really so nice.

In love. This little place, snuggled into the 5th district, is a cozy spot in which you're greeted by friendly staff (perhaps even the owner, which is more than likely) when you walk in. You can order brunch when it opens at 08:00 until usually about 16:00 (depends on the day, sometimes they close at 18:00). Or you can even grab a melange or cafe latte or any beverage of choice and sit by the street and watch the people passing by with their bread or flower purchases from nearby shops. It's also a great spot to get stuff done (I'm a photographer and this is an ideal spot to sit and edit my clients photos, they have outlets!) Definitely one of the gems of the 5th distract that warrants a visit.

Awful. This place has really gone downhill. My most recent order was barely enough food to fill a bird and I paid $26. Will not be back.

We waited in the takeout line for about 15 minutes and ate the best Kaiserschmarrn ever! Something I didn't even know existed until visiting Vienna. Highly recommend checking out this spot!

We were directed to go upstairs and found an open seat in no time at all. Just passing by all the display cases filled with desserts and pastries triggered the cravings. We did a quick menu perusal but really knew that we wanted to try the kaiserschmarrn which was a traditional Austrian dessert made up torn up pancakes, served with a plum compote and dusted with powdered sugar. It was light, had a nice caramelized flavor from browning in the pan and little pops of more sweetness from the raisins. It was so delicious that we came back the next day for more but shortcut the line and got it to go from the takeaway window. Same kaiserschmarrn but around 3 Euros cheaper for a larger serving. After eating we wanted around the restaurant and towards the back you can see just how the cooks juggled making many pans of Kaiserschmarrn at the same time. Yes it's a bit pricey but so tasty to try at least once.
