The view is great and the food was pretty good. My husbands pistachio cake was proclaimed as very good and not too sweet. It had a marzipan type frosting. I had the one gluten free item on the menu which was a hazelnut torte, but it was overly sweet. The tea and coffee were fine though nothing special. After climbing to the top of the hill behind the palace,decided we needed a little snack so we popped in to the charming cafe for a pastry and two glasses of wine. It's a beautiful spot with a high ceiling and bright interior. The cafe also serves breakfast and light meals and prices were surprisingly good too, unlike attractions in the US where captive concessions price gouge. We took a nice break had two glasses of wine and shared a pretty Mozart tart chocolate dessert and paid only about 15€. Service was pretty quick so you can get right back to your hiking around the park or picture taking. A nice spot for a break. read more

No service been sitting at the table for 10 minutes no server to take order and there 3 of them just standing and watching one old guy taking order and when I asked they told me I can only order through the old guy due to where I was sitting. Vienna's most beautiful café! Perched on top of a hill overlooking Schönbrunn Palace, the view from Gloriette Café is truly spectacular. Food was great -- goulash was delicious and the Sisitorte was a decadent delight! Service can be better, but I'm still giving it a 5-star. To me, it's just the way things are in Europe. Generally, the waiter will come to your table, flip a notepad and ask what you want, leave, come back with your food and bring the check to your table when you ask him to. For a simple lunch, this spot is great. On a rainy day, walking through the gardens wasn't ideal so taking a break here late afternoon was not too busy. The clear soup with pancake was a nice break from all the heavy Viennese dishes and the ham and cheese toast was basically grilled cheese with ham. Simple and easy. The Gulaschsuppe (Goulash soup) is a high point; for beverages, my pick is the Jagatee (black tea with rum). Not real Caribbean rum, though --- "inlander Rhum", basically vodka with a shot of molasses in each bottle. Crazy stuff. Some very strange hot sweets --- we had the Topfenknödel mit Erdbeersauce (Curd cheese dumplings with strawberry sauce), which we ordered based on a similar-looking dish everyone else was getting --- turns out that was Kaiserschmarren mit Zwetschkenröster ("Softly browned omelette with stewed plums"). We'll try that one next time. Not every table has a top-of-the-hill view, but they've all got good light; in warmer seasons, the outside tables are probably packed. Good low-pressure, atmospheric food break from the museum. read more

We made the trek up to Gloriette after visiting the beautiful Schönbrunn grounds. A pot of tea and a croissant is the perfect treat to enjoy while taking in the view of Vienna from way up high. The ambiance is lacking a bit and feels a little stale but the building exterior is absolutely beautiful. Our guidebook recommends the Sunday breakfast buffet and we also learned that you can rent the space for private parties which would be spectacular. read more

The food was surprisingly fantastic. Being a museum restaurant, I didn't expect much, but it was great. I had some cheese covered crepes , mom had salmon, and my girlfriend had the goulash. All were great. The dessert was a little plain, but only in comparison. And all was reasonably priced. read more

Every time I visit Schonbrunn I make a walk to Gloriette - a beautiful 18th century building with overview of the gardens and the castle. Not surprisingly it was a breakfast place for emperor Franz Joseph I. Now it is cafe and restaurant with nice choice and personal so friendly and unspoiled by the thousands of tourists. read more

Was seated at this table, which was still unclean from previous patrons, remained unclean for 8-10 min after. Waiter(Hassan) seemed bothered to attend to us, place @40% capacity I expect better. I would give 0 stars if I could. Horrible service and extremely racist staff. We ordered food and coffee there. The food was just average. After we paid, we started on our way out and it started raining suddenly. We took shelter at the cafe and sat at another table . The cafe staff asked us to leave and told us 'it's not a bus station'. We explained that we had just eaten there and were waiting for the rain to subside. There were plenty of other white people taking shelter but the hotel staff didn't say anything to them. Horrible staff, please avoid. read more

Terrible service. Super touristy. But what would you expect from the top of the most visited spot in Vienna...?! Go in, relax, enjoy the surroundings. Great spot as meeting up point/waiting spot if you have a large group, or if you go with parents and others who need a break from the walk up. But will need to pay for the toilet! Well, whatever it is, that one may find disturbing in this location, the view is taking your breath. Take a walk in the nice park, then have a coffee here and watch vienna from above. Alternatively, you could reserve a table for the famous sissy-Breakfast and enjoy delicous food in non-smoking environment. Definitely a place to visit. read more
