Update review. We keep getting a male server who is stressed out and impatient. Makes us feel…read morerushed. Acts like he's a great waiter and like we're unworthy customers. He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

The vibe was peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Service was attentive, though a bit on the slower side, we waited almost an hour for the main course. They do have a kitchen break between 3:30-4:30 PM, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit during peak hours. The food was fresh, flavorful, and creatively presented--it's clear the chef enjoys experimenting with unique flavor combinations. My husband tried the seafood lasagna, which was a tasty and satisfying treat. The scallops dish was also delicious, though slightly too salty for my taste and quite light--it came with a small amount of polenta and a vegetable purée, so I found myself a bit hungry afterward. Many people around us were ordering pasta, and it looked fantastic--definitely something I'd love to try next time. Overall, a beautiful place with great food and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The green beans and beet salad were the choice of appetizers. Both delicious but the beet salad won by a point or two. Braised ribs, mussels and the black cod. Good portion sizes. All very good. The ambiance was cozy, and not noisy. We will definitely return.

The staff was friendly and personable, and the menu looked promising. We ordered the steamed mussels, beet salad, McArthur burger, and wild mushrooms. The burger was probably the highlight of the meal. Mine was a little more done than I prefer, but it was still very good. The beet salad was enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. The mussels were okay, but several were chewier than I'd expect. The biggest disappointment was the wild mushrooms. I was expecting something that would showcase the variety and flavor of wild mushrooms. Instead, the texture and taste reminded me of the canned mushrooms I grew up eating as a kid. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. We passed on dessert and left feeling a little underwhelmed given the prices and the setting. Would we come back? Probably not. In fact, when we were deciding where to eat the following night with friends, we suggested Three Creeks Brewing instead. If you found this review helpful, give it a like so it can help others too.

During Memorial Day weekend, the line was often out the door, yet it moved surprisingly fast. Even with the crowds, we usually had our drinks in hand within about 10 minutes. The Bourbon Caramel Latte has become a favorite, but honestly, we come here for more than the coffee. It's one of those places where you want to slow down for a bit. We'll grab a couple of drinks, find a place to sit, and spend an hour people-watching, reading, catching up on the news, or just enjoying the morning. The building itself adds to the experience. It feels like a classic mountain lodge, and there's always a steady mix of locals, tourists, hikers, cyclists, and dog owners passing through. Even when we're traveling with friends, Sisters Coffee becomes the mandatory first stop of the day. Will we be back? Of course. In fact, I think it's time I finally signed up for a coffee subscription so I can enjoy a little bit of Sisters when I'm back home.
