TRIP À TROIS- Fires, Wings, & Balthazar nachos

First restaurant we check out in QC. The area it's in offers many options for restaurants but we went with this one since there appeared to be a lot of people dining. The service was good, staff was accommodating and took our order. The food was less than mediocre for the price that we paid. The sauces that the wings came with were the best part of the dish. Left feeling let down for sure.

The craft beer prices are good. The menu is a bit pricey but the quality matches it. The beer selection is great. The fact you can take a tasting selection for 8$ is a great thing. Specially before committing to a full pint. I would have never picked a full pint of the casket room temp beer. But after a try I was on board. Same for my boyfriend who wasn't sure about a fruit infused beer that ended up being a hit for both of us. With the beer I had the potato donuts. It was amazingly good. Straight from the fryer and served with a maple glaze on the side, it was good. The menu looked really good, but was a bit too pricey for me. (25$ for a salad?) but if you stick to the beer and maybe some appetizer/dessert I'm sure you can have a good time.

This review is a combination of a few visits while traveling in Laval for work over a few weeks. I found this place not only had good food and beer but the atmosphere was also quite awesome. They had great music and when solo sitting at the bar was ideal for catching the game!

Good service, decent menu. Ambiance was lacking but restaurant was half empty since it was the middle of the afternoon.

Serving beers exclusively from Quebec breweries, it is an excellent place to have a tasting of different type of beers or to sip at a local recipe!

Even those with more casual interest in beer probably know that DDC makes really great drinks. And yep, they were excellent. I wasn't there to do a long session, so I got a couple tasters, one including Peche Mortal and the other a NEIPA. Two very different styles and both extremely well done. Beyond that, the space had a very old-fashioned look. Really nice wooden fixtures and a very warm, welcoming vibe. The server was also attentive and friendly, but also knew when to let people sit back and enjoy their drinks. You probably don't need me to tell you, but yes, you should go.

He expressed interest in hitting up some breweries, so I did some research and compiled a few we could potentially visit. Brasserie Dieu du Ciel was one of them, and it just so happened we were in its vicinity after our Mile End food tour concluded. That being said, we made our way over. While I am not a beer person myself, I'll have a round or two if I'm with a group, and can appreciate a good brewery. My first impression of Dieu du Ciel was just that - the vibes were on walking in. The space is pretty large - kinda separated into semi- compartmentalized spaces with tables throughout. There's not much decor, but medium-toned woods throughout which gave it a sort of upscale feel. They offer a food menu, but we were just here for drinks. They have a really wide selection of beer - again, I'm no connoisseur, but I could tell that the selection was way more than other breweries I've been to. I ended up getting a cider for the first round and a stout for my second round - both very good. Service was great, and overall we enjoyed our time at Dieu du Ciel. Their selection and comfortable setting made it a standout brewery for me out of the ones I've visited in Montreal - I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Seating is plentiful and service is very friendly. Local beer selections and a non-local Apple Cider are on the menu as are various appetizers and main dishes...all pub-and smoked meat centric. Ordered the Cider, Mac and Cheese, Onion Rings, and Smoked Brisket Sandwich, which came with a generous serving of delicious French Fries. Drinks were delicious, food came out freshly made. The Onion Rings were crispy and well-fried, the Mac and Cheese was an utterly heavenly goo of Macaroni and Gruyère and other Cheeses - totally heavenly! The Brisket Sandwich and Fries were on point as well - great burger bun with generous portions of 24-hr smoked Brisket and Cheese! Fries were not greasy and utterly tasty. A wonderful meal following a long walk through Centerville and Old Town, we were set back CAD 58 for the meal and $20 for the drinks, including the heavy federal and state taxes and generous tips. A place worth visiting each time!

The place was half empty (strange for a big sunny day during summer but it was like that everywhere). The service was exactly like it always been, very slow. I wasn't the only one wondering where it was. The first time we saw him was for the drink, about 15 min after sitting. He came back about 15 minutes later with the drinks and we ordered a nacho to share among us. Once, the nacho arrived, we ate it. And then waited another 15 minutes for someone to clean the table. We haven't ordered the main course yet. Took another 10 min to order. And once we ate, we didn't see it at all. We asked for the bill when he came back about 30 min after we finished eating. So yeah, service is bad as usual. I remember that in the past, to get good service, we had to sit at the bar. As for the food. The food here is ok. If you like flamekeuche you'll probably like it. I ordered a 3b burge which is a burger with meat cooked with beer sauce. It wasn't bad, could taste the beer in the beef which is good. It was properly cooked and garnish. I'm just unsure for the price tag on it versus all offering near. A friend took the double smash burger. There was one big meat party, nearly as big as mine. But we could see the sauce oozing which is nice. She did like it, but it wasn't a smash. Compared to the smash I had at another location (was a real smash but looked nothing lime what she got), this was a better burger for sure. It did give me the idea to order it from here. The ambiance is typical of a sports bar pub restaurant. Lots of tv, when there's an event you got the audio. It is a nice place to lounge.

The one I've been to being in Rosemont Chicago. Tried both the blonde and blanche beers, and I definitely preferred the blanche. Also had several food dishes with my family. Multiple pizzas like the Roma and Caprini which were thin crust. Was surprised to find out that the regular "authentic" poutine was vegetarian which made me question the kind of gravy that was used. My cousin had the fish and chips which looked to be mostly batter. Even the fries were battered which was a surprise given the ones in the poutine were not. My aunt had the poke which had a good portion. Our waitress was nice. The service staff wore short shorts on a cold fall day which seemed unnecessary. There was a good crowd of families for a Sunday afternoon. They showed a Toronto-Philly NHL game but no NFL which was surprising even though we were in French Canada.

We were originally over by the Jean-Talon Market, and since we were staying downtown we wanted to find somewhere on our way back. Brutopia fit the bill, so off we went. I really liked the vibes as soon as we entered - the place isn't too large, but still spacious enough to have two semi-split up rooms. We stayed in the front room that housed the bar, some tables, as well as a small stage where (I assume) live music plays. The decor had somewhat of a music theme, as one of the walls was covered in pictures of famous artists. We had a round - I'm not the biggest beer person but had a cider which was good. We also split a poutine - we opted for the popcorn chicken one which was tasty. Everyone was really friendly, and we were even talking it up with a fellow patron who was also from New York. Service was great, and although it was only a short stay, I had a good experience at Brutopia. I wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in the area.
