I wasn't there to do a long session, so I got a couple tasters, one including Peche Mortal and the other a NEIPA. Two very different styles and both extremely well done. Beyond that, the space had a very old-fashioned look. Really nice wooden fixtures and a very warm, welcoming vibe. The server was also attentive and friendly, but also knew when to let people sit back and enjoy their drinks. You probably don't need me to tell you, but yes, you should go.

Brasserie Dieu du Ciel was one of them, and it just so happened we were in its vicinity after our Mile End food tour concluded. That being said, we made our way over. While I am not a beer person myself, I'll have a round or two if I'm with a group, and can appreciate a good brewery. My first impression of Dieu du Ciel was just that - the vibes were on walking in. The space is pretty large - kinda separated into semi- compartmentalized spaces with tables throughout. There's not much decor, but medium-toned woods throughout which gave it a sort of upscale feel. They offer a food menu, but we were just here for drinks. They have a really wide selection of beer - again, I'm no connoisseur, but I could tell that the selection was way more than other breweries I've been to. I ended up getting a cider for the first round and a stout for my second round - both very good. Service was great, and overall we enjoyed our time at Dieu du Ciel. Their selection and comfortable setting made it a standout brewery for me out of the ones I've visited in Montreal - I wouldn't hesitate to return.

There is a spacious outdoor terrace, big portion of it is covered and one can safely consume a pint during rainy summer day or hide from stronger sun. The pub offers food, the menu is OK, but don't expect anything else than typical pub food with no real healthy options. Regardless we came for the beers and managed to try most of them. First you can get a taster of the eight beers available on tap. Then you can buy variety of cans for experiments at home, which we did as to celebrate Canada Day in style. Unfortunately my favorite Hazy Camper IPA was not available that day. Farnham also offers few amazing hard seltzers that are worthy trying. The staff is super nice, but a little bit slow. Brutopia is practically next door to our temporary Montreal headquarters, so I suspect I will be conducting extensive research here over the next two weeks. Our first visit happened on a rainy evening, which immediately demonstrated Brutopia's greatest feature: DOGS. ARE. ALLOWED. INSIDE. Finally, a country that respects my social calendar. Brutopia is much bigger than it first appears. Once inside, there are multiple rooms with different types of seating, giving it that cozy, rambling pub feeling where you could easily find your own little corner and settle in for the evening. But despite the rain, Mum and Dad decided we should investigate the upstairs outdoor patio. Excellent decision. It's a really cool space with a huge colorful mural, hanging plants and a slightly greenhouse-y feel. Add in the fact that they sometimes have live music, and I can already tell this is going to become one of our neighborhood hangouts. Mum ordered a Caesar salad with bacon. I would like everyone to focus on one particular word in that sentence. BACON. I positioned myself appropriately. I stared. I waited. I even wore a hoodie to dinner, so frankly I don't know what more was expected of me. Meanwhile, Mum and Dad enjoyed a couple of drinks while I relaxed and took in the scene. Brutopia isn't trying to be a fancy dog restaurant with pup menus and elaborate canine amenities. What makes it special is actually more useful: I can come inside with my humans. We stayed in the front room that housed the bar, some tables, as well as a small stage where (I assume) live music plays. The decor had somewhat of a music theme, as one of the walls was covered in pictures of famous artists. We had a round - I'm not the biggest beer person but had a cider which was good. We also split a poutine - we opted for the popcorn chicken one which was tasty. Everyone was really friendly, and we were even talking it up with a fellow patron who was also from New York. Service was great, and although it was only a short stay, I had a good experience at Brutopia. I wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in the area.

There are two restrooms down a hall near the bar, each is a 'single person', one men's one woman's. Located in the city, parking is on street, paid lot or garage. With each sip I said to myself this is weird. This is strange. Then this is good. Now I kinda like it. I really like that the fish and chips can include three different kinds of fish. Cod, haddock and salmon. Even more impressive was the bun on my fish sandwich. The outside was crispy and the inside soft and colored red! Amazing bun. We were given the option of beer if we wanted to pay on our own, but we were really there for poutine which was included in the tour. I'm not much of a beer person so I passed, but did partake in the poutine. It was pretty good, though I wouldn't say it was too noteworthy. I have now had poutine from several places in the city, and this would be middle of the road for me. It was tasty and quality, but nothing too exciting. I don't really fault them though, as poutine is not the star of the show here. Service as good - overall I had a fine experience at Siboire. I need to return to explore more of their menu - and possibly a beer.
