I have been coming to this place for several years, but last month when I went I was so disappointed that I will not go back there again. The leche de tigre tasted like pure lemon, it was so acidic I couldn't eat it. The soup and the chica were good but then the ceviche had a bug in it! I called the waitress right away to show her and she just stared at my plate and said she couldn't see it. She then took the plate to the kitchen and said it must have been a fly that go in the plate. I wish I would have taken a picture before she took my plate but in the midst of the moment I didn't think of it. Then the waitress said she can offer us a free drink or chicken, but would not be able to take the ceviche off the bill. After that I lost my appetite and I wanted to do was leave the place.

If you can't grill, don't put it on your menu

What awful food truthfully. I'm peruvian, been in NJ for a long time, paterson is usually the go to spot but Rachi is NOT DONE IN AN OVEN. It's on a grill. A GRILL. Grilled foods don't leak 2 cups of grease. This is true serrano cooking. Absolute trash. I can hash it out to a bad day but this is the third order in a row where they just suck. This isnt peruvian food. This is dog food. Hire better chefs or just chose the restaurant down. I'm disgusted i had to pay for this. 22 dollars to NOT eat my food. The chicken is also marinaded with cinnamon which I want to ask, "what the fuck is your problem?"

I've been craving chicken from this place for quite a while but never have cash on me since they don't take credit cards. So I went to go grab lunch and I must have been really hungry because I took the turn into their parking lot too quickly and got a flat tire. Luckily the owner's nephew and another guy had just pulled up and jumped to my rescue and helped me out. They even told me to go inside and eat while they changed the tire, which of course I didn't. I thanked them so much for such great customer service and then went inside and got my food. I have to add, their chicken is the best I've ever had and not to mention that amazing green sauce! I'll make sure not to turn so quickly next time but I'll definitely be back.

Pollo a la brasa - salad, fries and rice

This place has great lunch specials with large portions, affordable prices, and quick arrival of the food. The restaurant itself is large but not cozy, and its not in the best location of Passaic. It took about 10 minutes until I was acknowledged, they are pretty busy with call ahead orders so I remained seated patiently. When the gentleman arrived to take my drink order, he only spoke Spanish so there was definitely a language barrier. I proceeded to order a Diet Inca Cola (Peruvian soda)..10 minutes later still no soda.. The language barrier was pretty bad! Once my friend arrived who spoke Spanish, everything went smoothly from there. I ordered a quarter Pollo a la brasa which is chicken prepared rotisserie style that came with 2 sides, so I choose the fried yuca and salad. The chicken itself was moist but not flavorful. It had a strange taste that I can't put my fingers on. The fried yuca was great and the salad was decent it was probably enough for 3 people to share it was that big! The green sauce served for dipping was absolutely delicious, it had a nice spicy kick to it with a light creamy consistency. Overall, it was an ok experience. With many restaurants around serving the same food, I highly doubt I'll be returning, service and food is crucial and it didn't satisfy here..

Extremely dried and smelly chicken.

Salome the waitress was so kind and attentive. She went above and beyond to make sure I had a wonderful solo dining experience. Some restaurants overlook solo diners or automatically steer them toward bar seating, so I really appreciated having a proper table where I could relax and enjoy the live jazz band. Now, let's talk about the food! The filet mignon was perfection. I'm usually a ribeye girl, but this was tender, perfectly cooked to a medium temperature and perfectly seasoned that it definitely impressed me. I opted for the three-course dinner, which is an excellent value. The lobster bisque was also outstanding, with a flavorful piece of lobster that made it even better. And a word of advice: don't make the same mistake I did and eat all the bread before your meal arrives! It was so good that I was practically full before dessert even made it to the table. Between the exceptional service, delicious food, and live jazz, this was such a lovely dinner. I'll definitely be back on my next visit!

We had a large group, and they seated us at 2 separate and crowded tables in the side room, which was less than ideal (with a reservation). It also got really hot because the room was packed. They were pushing us to order everything family style, but everyone wanted to order individually. The two of us weren't super hungry, and asked for our entrees to be on a separate check before ordering, which they would not do. Since I knew we were going to end up splitting the check with the one table, I ended up getting a more expensive entree to make up for the apps and drinks we weren't having (I already had a drink from the bar and my husband doesn't drink). I settled on the special lobster carbonara (which I think was $75). Good, but overpriced. My husband had the filet mignon - it was cooked as requested but we prefer more seasoning. A friend passed her grilled scallops over to us to finish - I took one bite and it tasted like ammonia. I discreetly spat it out. For her sake, I hope the rest didn't taste like that. The atmosphere was loud and hard to have conversations. They did a conga line around the restaurant later in the evening. Not really my scene. Service was slow and it didn't seem like they could handle big groups, even when split up. We ended up staying here for about 3 hours. We ended up leaving before we were even offered dessert. Also, keep in mind they have valet parking.

It was once again not served hot but was somewhat warmer than the arinicini but not by much. They could step up their game and brew their own ice tea instead of serving bottled ice tea. It's pretty easy to make ice teas with various flavors. Was a cute place, tables a little close together but was clean, nice lighting and decor. When I told my mom where we were going her reaction- "omg that place is still around?!? It use to be excellent back in the day!" Well I am happy to report this place is just as good today as it was during my mother's heyday. I decided to get a few oysters and clams to start off with and everything was just so fresh. As an entree the Seafood in a spicy red sauce was easily one of the best I have had in a very long time. There was a generous amount of seafood within the dish, the sauce I swear I could just drink it out of a cup and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My husband got the bbq ribs which I didn't try but you could see how they just slid right off the bone and he couldn't stop talking about how good they were. We ended our meal with some strong espresso. I enjoyed how it is a very casual atmosphere with a nice bar area that had a few TVs to watch some sports games. No need to dress to impress. The service was a little bit on the slower side but the waitress was very nice. The man who brought out my oysters, I asked him which were the east coast and which where in the west coast oysters, along with asking him where in the west coast my oysters were from and he couldn't tell me. My partner, our friends, and I have been to this family-owned establishment numerous times and decided to have dinner last night. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this casual vibe, we were greeted by the host. There is a lively sports bar side full of TVs and a dining room side, where we got a booth immediately by the window. Their menu has a wide array of options, rivaled only by the countless photographs and mementos that fill nearly every inch of wall space. There are many sandwiches, a half-dozen salads, thin-crust pizzas, and a substantial range of pastas. For starters, we decided on two dozen East Coast oysters on a half shell and Steamed Mussels with white wine butter broth. A side of Italian bread was brought for dipping. As a main meal, we opted for the Turkey Chili, Baby Back Ribs, Fried Calamari, Caesar salad, and Fries. The food was excellent and delicious, using the freshest ingredients. The portions were healthy. The staff went out of their way to make one feel welcome, creating a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Our server was Hadiyah. The price was reasonable.
