Wow Ruben had the right stuff, figured out the problem in seconds and went for parts. His quick action, positive attitude, total knowledge and clear skills put us quickly back in the shower business. He even had to purchase a special tool to remove the stuck valve cartridge, no charge to us. Wow again. And then Ruben's boss, Dillon, checked in via email to see if the job was done properly and ask for a plumber rating. Wow wow again. This was a 10-star experience but Yelp only goes to 5 stars.

Zoom Drain offered to come out and look at my yard pipe (there was water build up from all this rain and it just seemed a bit clogged) without any charges. And it looks like I'm just at the cusp of their service so I'm super glad I found them. So with my pipe, with all the rain there was some water build up. It didn't seem too bad so I went with the cheapest quote (should have known better) since I figured it's just to snake the drain/pipe. As soon as that other person/business came out, it went from $93 to $250... then they told me they couldn't do it, and I had to hydro jet for about 3 times more the cost than Zoom Drain! Or to replace my pipes altogether for $8000!!!!!!! Given they had very little review I wanted a second opinion and additional quotes. I know Zoom Drain would come out free of charge so I immediately contacted them and they came out the same day! Literally just a couple of hours after I contacted them. Maurice came out and he was professional, patient, just super duper nice. He explained why there was water build up and how it's normal! Basically my drain for my yard pipes is just too high up on my front yard, and places like San Francisco even drill holes into the sidewalk to drain. But as long as I'm not flooded anywhere, there's no issue. He checked everything and even if I needed to hydro jet it was about 1/3 of the cost the other place quoted me! He didn't even offer to snake my drain since the other business tried but "failed" and told me I needed to replace my pipes... *insert side eye emoji right here* I did end up asking Maurice to run diagnostics, he tested all my drains and everything was working normally. And that's it. Saved myself a whole bunch of money. Would have saved myself a lot of time/stress too if I just went to them in the first place. Lesson learned. Confusing set of circumstances. They came out to inspect my septic tank due to backing up on…read moreoccasion. Did their underground cameras, told me I needed to be pumped. $1300 inspection, $3800 pump with a third-party vendor about whom they knew little. Hard time getting estimates in writing. After spending $5100 was told my tanks were cracked, my leach field was failing, they recommended a brand new system A-Z for $28,000 and I would be credited some of the $5100 toward the new system, but my total costs were going to be over $30,000. That was late December 2024. I asked them to send me a detailed proposal and that I would entertain other bids as well, but they would have had an inside track because they would have credited me some of the earlier work. Except I never heard from them again. I contacted them twice in January and never heard back. Never saw a proposal. Were they spooked that I would take other bids and find out how outrageous their pricing was? Did it concern them that I was left with a broken system and it possibly could have been ugly? Did they just take the money and run? I have no idea, but something seems off.

Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet expectations. The technician required me to choose between three costly service options before examining the issue--a practice that felt unnecessarily pressured. Despite charging double the typical rate, they were unable to resolve the clog; the technician reported that his equipment malfunctioned during the attempt. They then quoted $4,000 for what they estimated as a few hours' repair that would be done by the end of the day. He didn't have a working drain snake, but he did have the ABS parts (inexpensive) to complete a full drain replacement at more than $1000 an hour. I sought a second opinion the same day from another professional plumbing company. The second company successfully cleared the drain for $328.72, including preventive treatment. They documented that the previous work hadn't addressed the actual problem and provided photographic proof of such with our receipt. UPDATE: I got the same "call me" from Michael T. Don't want to be cursed at again and already moving forward legally.
