    The lazy elm tree! :-)
    Nicole N.

So glad we found this place! We were at other wineries in the area and wanted to go to one more before the day ended... this one was the closest :-) The tasting room isn't big & it's not fancy but boy do they make up for it with their wines. The owner/winemaker definitely knows his stuff! He's a very nice guy down to earth & most likely will be there on the weekends. He'll take the time & talk to you about the wines & answer any questions you have about winemaking in general. You can tell this is really his passion & it shines through in his wines. One thing I appreciate is he values educating his employees on the wines he makes and the winemaking processes. We had two wonderful ladies giving us our wine tasting and gave us a wealth of knowledge that we didn't already have and we are definitely serial wine-tasters :-) but they credited all their knowledge to the owner, how nice!!! If you're a red wine lover he has some great red wines! He also hand-presses all his wine to remove the seeds & stems before fermentation, this way you don't get a tannin taste. His wines were incredibly smooth! He also has a great true Italian Pinot Grigio & a good stainless steel Chardonnay. There are a few semi-sweet wines & an amazing port! We definitely left with a bottle of the port, highly recommend! You have to go here, you won't regret the wines or the knowledge you gain!

Love this little hidden gem. We got a delicious sangria and enjoyed outside by the live music. The patio area has a lot of potential, I would love to see them expand and really embrace the great outdoor space they have! The staff was super friendly and helpful!

There were plenty of people there, but we were able to get a tasting right away. We also took some time to wander through the vineyard. This would be a perfect spot for a wedding! So beautiful. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. I'd absolutely recommend!

Rita gave us spectacular service and we were indeed BLOWN AWAY! We were planning on bringing home 2 bottles but ended up getting 7!!! The value is excellent! Our most expensive bottle was $26. 2 bottles of the 2024 Yadkin Valley Viognier which was delicious, 2 bottles of the Rose (made from 100% Cab Sauv) which shocked me with the flavors & depth (I drink 90% reds usually), 1 bottle of the 2022 Yadkin Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (which we will hold for 4-5 years), 1 bottle of the 2021 Yadkin Valley Cabernet Franc and 1 bottle of the 2022 Yadkin Valley Meritage. I liked the Southern Tour blend and the Smokey Pearl blend, both were similar to the Meritage) but a little sweeter than I usually drink. I highly recommend a visit to Curran Alexander Vineyards for a delicious tasting and if you can get Rita, who is VERY knowledgeable about the wines, the better but I'm sure all the staff is great.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Native Vines Winery, the first American Indian-owned winery in the United States. If you're coming from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, or Charlotte, the drive is an easy one -- less than an hour away and well worth the trip. I chose a quiet fall weekend when no events were scheduled. The weekend hours are a bit longer, so it gave me time to relax and enjoy the full experience. As soon as I walked through the door, I was warmly welcomed. Native Vines offers a customizable tasting where you can choose six wines from their list. I'm usually more of a semi-sweet wine drinker, but I decided to be adventurous and include two dry wines in my flight. My selections were: * * * * * * Dry wines: Indian Summer and Chief's Blend * * * * * * Semi-sweet wines: White Buffalo, Green Tea Wine, Raspberry Tea Wine, and Sangria Crackers were provided between tastings to cleanse the palate -- a thoughtful touch. The winery offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and there was even a food truck on-site for those wanting a bite to pair with their wine. My personal favorite was the Green Tea Wine -- light, refreshing, and pleasantly unexpected. I also loved Chief's Blend, a Cabernet Sauvignon with rich cherry and cocoa notes. In the end, I couldn't resist taking home bottles of the Green Tea Wine, Chief's Blend, and of course, the Sangria (because who can ever say no to Sangria?). I'm already planning my next visit -- hopefully on a day when they're hosting one of their lively events. If you're looking for a laid-back winery experience with a unique cultural story, Native Vines is absolutely worth the trip.

After being greeted in the main building, we were directed to enjoy the scenic route or walk directly towards the back of the building to enjoy the live music. There's an open space behind the main building with a small stage to enjoy live music, or if you're more a bookworm like myself you can grab a chair near the small lake. I enjoyed lunch in the Bistro (it was an earlier lunch because they were closing earlier for a private event - it's a beautiful space so I can see why) - the lunch menu offered a variety of items of if you're just interested in dessert, then you can grab something from the front and enjoy the weather. This beautiful place could easily get crowded on a weekend so I'd recommend reservations, just to ensure that you have a table without the wait. I decided to go with a wrap with grilled chicken and it was seasoned just right and was complimented with the perfect amount of fries. But the highlight of my lunch (besides the wine, lol) was the sweet tea - as a southerner, it hit the spot. A private tour was scheduled for me and that's probably where I made up my mind that I'd be back to visit this place. The tour guide was personable and she knew her stuff. Not to mention, I was able to enjoy fresh grapes from the vineyard (yum!). I fell in love with a couple of their signature wines, so I grabbed a couple of bottles from the gift shop - it's also offers a great opportunity to grab a few gifts for family and friends. I'd recommend this place for an easy Saturday or Sunday as it's great way to relax and recharge - but if you're feeling inclined to stay there's a hotel available near the vineyards (walking distance). Go check them out!
