Bridge on the path from the hotel to the vineyard in disrepair
Nicky S.

Returned here for a Graduation lunch with 14 people at The Bistro at Childress. Our server did a wonderful job keeping up with everyone. The food was delicious and came out timely. We had quite a variety from the menu and everyone was happy. We had glasses of wine and flights of wine. The Bistro is a nice open restaurant that can be a bit noisy but it wasn't too bad to hold a conversation. Great venue for a special day.

We were there for my husby birthday- I booked the bistro table in advance but was a lil disappointed it wasn't ready. We were able to get a few vegan options which was great, I really wish we could have a vegan dessert but there was none. The food although was really great - we had couscous with veggies and vegan burrito with sun kissed peach wine and reisling wine and loved peach that I ended up bringing a bottle home. We didn't had time for the tour or tasting but would definitely recommend that. Overall it was a great experience, just would like the owner to add some vegan dessert options as well.

What a great Vineyard, much to offer on site, including a tour of the facilities where you can see the winemaking process in full. The grounds are beautiful, have a big pond as well, a restaurant and lots of room to Rome.

Petite Salmon, Brussels Sprouts and sweet potatoes with a glass of Jewel Soft White

We visited the Bistro, which is temporarily in the Terrace while the flooring is replaced in the original location. Tonight was the best we've experienced! It's never been bad, but tonight all the stars aligned and everything was on point! The manager is very professional, the servers are exceptional, and the food and wine....delectable! We had a bottle of the Jewel Soft White and started with the pimento cheese dip served with pork rinds. The Hubster had Braised Short ribs and I had the Petite Salmon. Perfect size servings for us. I actually like the Bistro being located in the Terrace. It felt "cozy". I'm sure it was difficult for the staff but they didn't show it. So happy with our visit overall!.

I held my Mothers 70th birthday in the Barrel Room. My Mother is a veteran who served this country during various conflicts such as Vietnam. We were told when we booked the room we could use the PA system to play her old school music. Once we were there we were told we could not because it would feed into the restaurant. I was asked for proof when I complained..we were in front of the camera. My son was told they didn't have water when he asked for it, but he could have tea. How do you deny water to a child? How do you make tea without water? Again in front of the camera. I was not told about that till we were gone. They asked at my guests and I the entire 3 hours. I could go on and on about the treatment but I will just continue to share my story. I don't recommend this place regardless of how beautiful it is and how good the food is.

This was really cool and pretty big. If I were to strategize, I'd say definitely make a reservation and plan ahead - check a few days before - to have the best experience. We decided to pop in on a Saturday, and at that point, tours had been booked up for the day, as well as the bistro. We sat outside to listen to music, and they had a little snack bar at out there with a limited selection of wine and snacks. We then enjoyed a tasting in the gift shop. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and it was an enjoyable experience. The place is beautiful and I wish we could've experienced more of it, so likely will be back, with a different strategy next time

Birthday Card and Chocolate

A group from my work goes here throughout the year for various occasions. We went for my birthday a few months ago and just celebrated another birthday today. They are so nice and will put chocolates and a card on the table for the birthday boy/girl. We love to share the Pimento Cheese Dip with Pork Rinds. I tried Austin's (can't completely remember what it's called?) Chicken Sandwich with wedges and it was so yummy! The restaurant is beautiful and feels so fancy when you go. It's more expensive than your regular lunch spots, but it's worth every cent. We had a lovely server named Krista and she was excellent! Very knowledgeable and helpful as we navigated ordering with a party of 7. We will be back this summer and can't wait!

Such a grand place! Visited on a sunday with two of my friends. We had made advanced online reservations for their "Luxe Wine Tasting" you get to choose 6 wines of your choosing to taste out of the 10 they offer. Our hostess was super attentive and gave us great knowledge on all of the wines we chose and what food options pair well with the wines we were tasting. Now ot does has this wine tasting is 60min but make note, it can def go over. They are not kicking you out after one hour. They let you take your time and enjoy the wines which I thought was great. You can really enjoy your time, catching up while sampling wine at your own pace and not have to chug it all down. Grand house with a lovely room to enjoy the wines. Afterwards had reservations at the Bistro which was a big grand room. Ordered their pasta, salmon and chicken Greek salad. All tasted Devine and had no complaints! Sat outside afterwards on their many patio chairs and tables. We did not go into their gift shop which I am sad about but that just means another wine tasting coming soon! We were there from 12:30pm to 5pm. Definitely visit with ample timing to really enjoy everything and take it all in.

Came here for Mother's Day. My 1st visit here. This was soo good! It's located right off of the highway, but at the same time its hidden away, so when you enter its unexpected. The grounds are really maintained well. The inside is just as beautiful with picturesque views of the vineyard. There's a lake with sitting areas, a gazebo for events, a bistro, a souvenir store with a variety of great items and a mini bakery. They do offer a membership if you visit often. I haven't looked into what that includes but it's a great place to frequent. You also have the option of visiting without a reservation/membership for tastings. They had live music as well. I highly recommend visiting. Good for a date, girls day trip, private events or to just relax.

One of my favorite wineries around, Childress never disappoints! There's a lot to do, I've never had the chance to try their bistro but I will eventually. Their wine is stellar, I love their tastings they cost about $20 and you get 4 pours and you get to keep the glasses too! The service is pretty quick they keep the place well staffed. This time around I got their sweet wine flight and their mimosa flight which is seasonal and they also have seasonal slushie flavors! And the scenery is breathtaking, from the moment you drive in and go through the vineyards leading up to the building, it's an experience to behold. Behind the building they have a garden area and a huge seating area.

I had such a lovely experience at Childress Vineyards! The staff was friendly, the wine was delicious, and the setting was absolutely beautiful. It's the perfect place to unwind, sip, and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

This was the most beautiful and hospitable vineyard I've been to. The staff was amazing even the owner himself (Richard Childress) was super sweet and welcoming ! The wine was perf and loved they allowed us to take our glasses home. This vineyard inspired me to open one of my own! Can't wait to return to do the food paring tasting !

Today was a great afternoon to visit the vineyard, so a friend and I decided to do brunch at the bistro. The weather was great and we had an 11 AM reservation, so it was perfect timing and before any crowds rolled in. Their Bistro menu had a variety of great options and we genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered. Afterwards, we decided to try some different wine flights before heading out overall, it was a great afternoon.

I was interested to see what that was like and it was pleasant on the palate and we ended up taking three bottles home at the price point of $17.99 a bottle. The pourer, sorry didn't get her name, but seemed like she was part of that owned it because she knew all about the wines. The other wines we tasted were very good as well. It was not the largest tasting room I had been in, but certainly not the smallest. Some seating inside and out on a patio. There was a private event there and it was raining so we didn't go pet the "friendliest" horse that is noted in other reviews. Good stuff and very unique.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Native Vines Winery, the first American Indian-owned winery in the United States. If you're coming from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, or Charlotte, the drive is an easy one -- less than an hour away and well worth the trip. I chose a quiet fall weekend when no events were scheduled. The weekend hours are a bit longer, so it gave me time to relax and enjoy the full experience. As soon as I walked through the door, I was warmly welcomed. Native Vines offers a customizable tasting where you can choose six wines from their list. I'm usually more of a semi-sweet wine drinker, but I decided to be adventurous and include two dry wines in my flight. My selections were: * * * * * * Dry wines: Indian Summer and Chief's Blend * * * * * * Semi-sweet wines: White Buffalo, Green Tea Wine, Raspberry Tea Wine, and Sangria Crackers were provided between tastings to cleanse the palate -- a thoughtful touch. The winery offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and there was even a food truck on-site for those wanting a bite to pair with their wine. My personal favorite was the Green Tea Wine -- light, refreshing, and pleasantly unexpected. I also loved Chief's Blend, a Cabernet Sauvignon with rich cherry and cocoa notes. In the end, I couldn't resist taking home bottles of the Green Tea Wine, Chief's Blend, and of course, the Sangria (because who can ever say no to Sangria?). I'm already planning my next visit -- hopefully on a day when they're hosting one of their lively events. If you're looking for a laid-back winery experience with a unique cultural story, Native Vines is absolutely worth the trip.

Tagged along with my wife and her friend ti enjoy a drink at Stonefield Cellars…read more I'd never been to this winery, but we were well greeted and welcomed into their tasting room. It seemed they had a pretty extensive list of wines to choose from. They had a large, spacious indoor area for sitting, but also a lot of outdoor space and a medium sized covered patio with fans to help with the heat. The woman working the bar was very friendly and I heard her making a number of recommendations. Personally I'm not a wine drinker, but they did also have a small selection of beers to pick from as well We had a great visit and I'd go back to enjoy a nice day, maybe when the weather begins to cool, at least a little

Everyone I was with ended up going for the flight and they brought them out pretty quickly despite being really busy on a Sunday afternoon. The flights might be a little small but the price was pretty affordable so it was worth it in my opinion. There's plenty of outside tables and there's a few tables inside. There's also a cute store inside with some local products. I personally love dessert wine so I love the variety of dessert wines they have. Every wine I tried was really good though. They did come around & ask if we wanted to join the wine club and gave us a sample of a club exclusive wine, but they weren't pushy at all when we said we weren't interested in joining. We also had a charcuterie board which I wish I took a picture of. It was delicious - it had cheese, crackers, olives, chocolate covered pomegranates (I think), and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else. Overall, a really enjoyable place to go with friends or a nice date spot! They seem to have a lot of good events worth checking out too.
