The vibes in this place were a1. Incredibly difficult to find location inside of a hotel and ultimately in the basement. They had live music and a great crowd. Would definitely return! read more

I've had Lazy Bird on my list for a while, and finally popped in tonight for drinks before my wife's birthday dinner. It did not disappoint. The drinks were all great and the bartenders were even better (Marko and Krista). We will definitely be back. read more

Happy hour at Lazy Bird! I'm not a big drinker, but I love treating myself to a fun cocktail for special occasions. Ambiance was perfect. Would have stayed there all night if I could have. Definitely want to go back to see a band. I had the seasonal cocktail with yellow chartreuse, elderflower liqueur, aloe, lemon, and orange blossom. It had "April" in the name -- highly recommend. It was sweet and refreshing. Staff was SO fun and friendly. I'd go back in a heartbeat. read more

Good drinks and talented individuals. Some random guy came up to me when I was heading up to my room at the Hoxton, and said Lady Bird was closed when it wasn't... so just a bit offended. read more

Very cool speakeasy hidden in the depths of the Hoxton hotel! I visited Lazy Bird late on a Tuesday night after dinner in West Loop with a big group. Although it was a little daunting to actually find the entrance of Lazy Bird (the speakeasy energy is strong), we are glad we did as the vibe was fun and the drinks were great. It was fairly busy for a Tuesday night, but our big group was able to be seated with a minimal wait (~15 minutes). The menu here is huge with probably 30+ drinks with pictures (always appreciated!). In addition, there are a few special drinks unique to specific bartenders for a local flair. I opted for the "dealer's choice" option, which comes at two price levels ($18 or $25) and involves specifying your liquor of choice and letting your bartender do the rest. For the rest of the cocktails, the pricing is simple (a flat $17 at the time of writing). Supposedly there is live music on the weekends, so I will have to come back to confirm if that's true. In any case, this is a great choice for chill vibes, cool hangs, and tasty cocktails! read more

The atmosphere and cocktails are both wonderful! I have a soft spot for bars in basements. There is just something relaxing about it to me. The cocktail menu is fairly large and there really is a cocktail for everybody here. It can be nearly impossible to get a seat here and can get pretty crowded. If you are able to come soon after they open, you probably have a better chance at grabbing a seat or table. read more

omg its a must go to kinda place good vibe --music ---dim lighting drink options is a joke ---tooo many to choose from!!! all drinks $17 but so worth it ---all drinks r boozy!!!! i recommend u get there early 5pm when they open so u are able to get a sit n just relax----can't wait to go again read more

What a find?! Determined to find after hours drinks, Lazy Bird seemed like a unique local bar and goodness was it. GPS had us questioning if the bar existed, leading us to a hotel. Luckily, with a few questions asked, we made our way to a door that led us downstairs to this gem. A darker ambiance, featuring booths, a bar and a combination of table and lounge seating. Did I mention live music? Just when it couldn't get any better. They're known for their Tequila Paloma and the punch it packs is worth every sip. read more

What a great spot to bring a date or have just a cool cocktail moment. Worth the find and anything You drink can be made for you. Very much a speakeasy vibe but it's casual and approachable. read more

Great little speakeasy like bar serving up a diverse range of cocktails. Follow the chalk like signage from the entrance to the Hoxton hotel to get to Lazy Bird. The menu is quite extensive with several columns of cocktails printed on a landscape 8.5 x 11, all for $15. There are many bartenders working, so grab their attention to get the order in. Drinks are strong and beautifully garnished. Dealers choice is also great if you want something that can't be found on the menu. read more

Came here on a Friday night on a whim and was surprisingly able to get seats and listen to the live music playing. The musician was incredible and the drinks were amazing. A great speakeasy vibe that's sophisticated and fun. I would definitely recommend trying to make a reservation though because I recently went a couple weeks ago and all the seating was reserved. read more

Great cocktail lounge in the basement of the Hoxton Hotel. You knew it was going to be great- its from the Boka Group. Upscale cocktails with some classics, some new riffs on historical cocktails, and some great cocktails they invented. A little crowded when I went, but its a shiny new West Loop cocktail bar in a shiny new hotel filled with Stephanie Izzard delights, so you'd expect it to be a little busy. I was also there on a Thursday, so....... It'll settle down eventually but for the time being it's going to be busy most days. Definitely worth braving the crowd. I had the Lion's Tail. Loved it. Actually I had four of them. Actually, how did I get home that night? read more

We stopped here for a drink after dinner and we're seated at the bar. It was kind of amazing to see the master bartenders work their magic! We drank perfectly mixed cocktails to the sweet sweet sound of 90s hip hop. I mean... what more can you ask for? read more

Super cute lounge! The variety of drinks were insane but I think at the price of the quality of each drink. However, my friends really liked their whiskey based drinks. Drinks were a little overpriced but it's a good spot for a quick drink before heading somewhere more affordable. read more

This was a place I've had on my list to try for some time and finally had a girls night out & went! This is a first come first serve kinda place so you are seated based on that solely which I actually liked; but after 7 especially on a Friday night you better be ready to wait! The hostess was very nice and accommodating as in trying to ensure us in regards to jute wait time etc. Based on what we were informed their wait time can be up to an 1 hr and 45 mins the most! I believe we waited about 30-40 mins which wasn't bad at all! They do have bar seating if you want to wait there; but unfortunately that wasn't even available! Friday night Chicago spring time lol it was packed when we went! Yet the drinks were so good! Worth the money and they make them strong lol so the only dining options they have it steak fries which is $50 for steak and well... fries lol we didn't dine in as I wasn't sure if they even served food we initially just came for drinks! Also, they have live bands playing and honestly I'd rather had stayed for their live music cuz they were setting up as we were leaving! They have live music on most nights based on information from their website! Overall, I loved the ambience & they played all the music I love - hip hop and some classic r&b! Don't know if this is every night as in if they switch it up playlist/genre but definitely enjoyed myself and the drinks! The vibe was definitely right for me! As for the drinks I had this night they were the Hemingway daiquiri & the Mary Rockford - drink both were good! I'll definitely be back! read more

Great cocktail bar in the basement of the Hoxton. Gets busy but staff do their best to keep an eye out for anyone waiting. For very well made cocktails, it's well priced unlike some of the places in the city which now charge through the roof. Not really set up for groups - best for 2-4 people. Unpretentious atmosphere and service- feels like it's set up for those who appreciate understated quality - its substance not just style. read more

Lovely spot to sit and listen to some live music with friends or even by yourself. They have a very large book of cocktails that you could probably read for 30 minutes and marvel at the history of each drink. I'm more of a wine person than cocktails so I can't comment on the drinks. It can be difficult to find your way in. When you enter, follow the wall on the right all the way to the end (past the elevators) and you will see a door on the left with "Lazy Bird" on the glass. Open the door and take the stairs down. read more

This place gives speakeasy vibes and was a great experience. Lazy Bird is in the Hoxton Hotel, that has a restaurant Cira when you walk in and Cabra on their rooftop. The rooftop view is really nice. Now for Lazy Bird, it's in the lower level of the hotel. They over an extensive cocktail menu, featuring $17 cocktails. We ordered the French 75, Mai Tai, Old Fashioned, and Sazerac. All were made well and strong! They do live music and open at 5pm. They can get packed quickly, and seating is first come first served. The staff were very attentive throughout. I recommend giving Lazy Bird a try for drinks before dinner or if you just want to catch up with friends/family! read more

One of the best cocktail bars in the city. Highly recommend! The ambiance is dark and cozy, great for a bar with a speakeasy vibe. The menu was incredibly thorough, full of impeccably made classic, a few spins on classics and new creations from the bartenders. The service was excellent and fast. We arrived at 5pm on a Tuesday and were immediately seated and the tables were full by around 6. Some folks have complained about the noise and it wasn't an issue when were there from 5-7pm. read more

I came to Lazy Bird on Saturday when they opened. It was kind of like a speakeasy since it was in the basement of a hotel. It is dimly lit with great hip hop music playing. They had a large cocktail menu. Every cocktail was $17 which is a little on the pricey side. The drinks were extremely tasty however and we had wonderful service. I would recommend ordering the salty dog! My boyfriend got the hemingway daiquiri and really enjoyed it. Both drinks were the perfect level of sweetness. Next time I would love to visit when they have live music. read more

Great place with a large selection of cocktail and live music. Elegant and trendy lounge vibe

If you're in Chicago and looking for a nice bar with a great variety of drinks, Lazy Bird is the way to go. The pitfall of this bar is that it packs up pretty early and I feel that the noise levels are pretty high. We were waiting for the Jazz music to start but unfortunately, I was already pretty drunk after two drinks. Now, as for the drinks and service, those two were superb. We're hoping that next time we can go there on a weekday and maybe get to know the bar people better. read more

Was able to sneak into the bar before a large crowd came. We tried multiple cocktails: the white lady was my first one and it was great. They create each cocktail, it's not premade (thank god). The bartenders are friendly and exemplified excellent customer service. We had a great time at Lazy Bird, and every cocktail was delicious. The ambience is dark, yet lightens up with the floral wallpaper. We debated returning the next night to catch the live band (Friday and Saturday only I think). read more

Great cocktail bar with an upscale but not pretentious vibe. They have 52 cocktails on their menu, mostly comprising of the standard classics but from observing the bartenders, made with the right level of care and respect for each drink. I got the improved whiskey cocktail which was stiff but made well. At $15/cocktail, a place you don't want to spend your entire night at but a solid pre- or post-dinner spot for sure. 5/5 for ambience- the place is very fun and well decorated. That being said, the drinks are pretty overpriced. I watched the bartender make ours and they were a bit lazily done given the price point. Not to sound too picky but I do think the shot glass should be filled if I'm ordering a $17 drink. Come for the atmosphere but stay for just one drink read more

Love this place! It's tucked away downstairs at the Hoxton and had a pretty long line to get in at 9 o'clock on a Saturday night. It has a speakeasy type vibe and is really classy. The room is small and intimate and love the live music. It's a perfect place for after dinner drinks! read more

Great drinks great service awesome atmosphere. Would recommend. Drinks are pricey but worth it

I've seen several reviews about this spot and a "Hidden Gem" is the best description of the Lazy Bird. Located in the basement of the Hoxton Hotel in the west Loop of Chicago, this is the classic speakeasy brought back to life. The decor is quite inviting and cozy, making this a perfect date night, after dinner, girls night out, or whatever spot. And if you are a live music lover like me, you will enjoy the line up of live musicians. The night I was there, Sam Trump was performing; simply phenomenal. But get there early, as seating is limited. The cocktail book is by far the most unique menu that I have seen thus far (yes I tried to take one home as a keepsake). With the bartenders keeping with the classics, you are sure to find a unique libation to make you happy. I forget the cocktail that I had, but I do remember wanting to go and tip whoever made my cocktail as it was delicious, refreshing, and well worth the money spent (they didn't hold back on the vodka). Thanks to the General Manager, Webster Nelson and the rest of the Lazy Bird staff for bringing back what nightlife should be as I was for sure that Chicago had lost it's way. read more

Went to Lazy Bird with espresso martinis on my mind! Ordered one and it was good, but not great. It didn't have the classic flavor I was hoping to get, almost tasted like it had cola in it. Also, it didn't have as much froth on the top as I would have liked. The menú had tons of cocktail options that looked really good though! I'd go back and try one of those but wouldn't order the espresso martini again. The atmosphere transformes me back to the roaring 20s and there was great service! read more

Came to the Lazy Bird after attending a show at the United Center on a Thursday night. The venue is kinda small but has a nice vibe. Very grown and sexy with a diverse crowd. It was pretty crowded by the time we got there around 11pm. Wasn't too long of a wait to get a drink at the bar. The champagne cocktail was good. The bartender took care in making the drinks. The highlight was the band. They were awesome. There's something about hearing live music in a great setting. Will definitely return when I visit Chicago again. read more
