I always get my eyebrows done with Shiva, but she doesn't work there anymore. I hesitantly tried out a new person: Sapna, and she was really awesome! I had been growing back my eyebrows for a long time because people in the past messed them up and Sapna did an awesome job reshaping them. I do not recommend coming here at all! As soon as I walked in the customer service was absolutely terrible. The younger woman who helped me out rushed through my brows quickly, didn't even brush my brows before starting, and made one of my brows thinner than the other! I absolutely love this place! It's cheap and they do a wonderful job! Some of the reviews on here appear to be not so great but I feel that once you find someone you like- STICK WITH THEM. This place welcomes walk-ins but you can't expect the same thing every time if you're getting your eyebrows threaded by a different person. If you tell them before-hand exactly what you want, they're pretty really good about it! I have (somewhat) thicker eyebrows so I always make sure to tell them not to take off to much and that i just need a clean up. I wish I could rate Layla negative stars. I don't know of any other place in Santa Barbara that does threading- I am allergic to wax so it limits my eyebrow options. Anyway, I've been to Layla a handful of times. I've had maybe 1 or 2 good experiences but the rest have been extremely poor. Based on my most recent experience, I will drive to a completely different city just to get my eyebrows threaded. The lady that did my eyebrows was extremely rude and kept shoving my hands all over my face or throwing them down. I asked for a clean up- no re-shaping and no thinning. Of course when she finished, I saw my eyebrows were very thinned out and both eyebrows were a different shape. The lady didn't offer aloe, which is standard after you get your eyebrows cleaned. She didn't ask if I liked them, she simply gave me the mirror and went straight to the front desk to charge me. Terrible experience and I am so disappointed and upset at how my eyebrows look. read more

This review is six months overdue. Similar to what the other reviews say, this place is really hit or miss and never does a consistent job. The first time I went here they did a decent job--my eyebrows were threaded a little thinner than what I wanted, but they still looked okay and were even. I gave this place a second chance and emphasized that I wanted to keep the thicker shape of my eyebrows but needed the stray hairs at the ends of my eyebrows cleaned up. I've been coming to Layla's for at least 5 years. One downer is many of there staff leave. Prettie has been here for years and is great. Another amazing person who is here is Ashely. She was my go to person when I first started coming here and she left for their Ventura location but she's back at this location Friday-Sundays. I love coming to Ashely. She doesn't leave my brows hurting from the threading. It can be painful at first but once you're use to it is not as painful. It can be a busy location so I recommend calling to make an appointment if you don't want to wait long. Make sure to sign in your name on the clipboard at the desk when you get here. read more

I usually get my eyebrows done by Michelle but she was working on someone and I got my my eyebrows done by a girl with short blond hair and red lipstick. She completely took off a small portion from the top of my left eyebrow and thinned it out to "match" the other eyebrow. Now my eyebrows are uneven and I'll be waiting for my eyebrow to grow back. Definitely sticking with Michelle for next time. **UPDATE** 11/7/17 Never coming back here ever again. Each time I go in, they seem to keep messing up my eyebrows and thinning them out, especially the top of the brow. Someone I know just mentioned that they noticed my eyebrows getting thinner each time. Idk why the keep messing up the brows, I tip pretty well. This review is actually overdue. I had good experiences in the past with this establishment. The last time I went, I had a gentleman thread my brows. I specifically told him to clean them and shape them a little so they wouldn't look like blocks of hair since I had been growing my brows for months and they had gotten really out of hand. When he was done my eyebrows were terrible. The ends were extremely thin, there were only like two hairs at the end, and overall my eyebrows were extremely thin. One was thinner than the other, and my eyebrows were shorter as well. It has been months since I last got them done here and the eyebrow that was left thinner still has not fully grown back to normal. It is still shorter than the other eyebrow and is not as full too. I've been going to Layla's for years because they're affordable and had great customer service. Every year I take advantage of their free birthday threading. It's a really great deal and all they ask is for identification ( ID or passport). When I walked inside there was about four ladies one was already attending a customer and the other three were huddled up talking. I was greeted and the woman that attended me had red acrylics, rings on her fingers, full face of makeup pretty woman but gave me horrible customer service. When I sat on her chair I didn't expect for my head to go way back.. it was uncomfortable for my neck and back. When she was doing my eyebrows I was taken back on how hard she was moving my face also re adjusting my fingers. It's part of their job to move your face so they can get a better view also re adjust your fingers so they can get the bottom hairs of your eyebrows, but instead of being gentle she was rough towards me. When she finished she gave me a napkin and a mirror to check my eyebrows, Layla's employee's always ask if they can apply aloe Vera or water to help heel the redness around the eyebrows. I have sensitive skin so I always say no to the aloe and water. Once I put the mirror down to let her know the eyebrows were fine she put a cotton ball with I don't know what and ran it across my eyebrows. I was shocked because I did not ask her to do that. She walked away and was heading to the register. I went to the seating area where my boyfriend had my backpack so I can show her my ID and get my free birthday threading. Unfortunately I could not find it and I asked her if there was any way I can confirm it was my birthday that day. She asked if I had a Facebook and I said no. I told her I have an email from Sephora about my birthday gifts. She said no if I don't have a Facebook there no other way to confirm it. She didn't give me a chance to show her my birthday emails. She was not helpful at all. I just told her, "fine I'll pay for it" and I gave her my card. Her co worker saw that I was upset she asked the lady that helped me if there was something wrong and she told her there was nothing wrong. I payed when I wasn't supposed to, service was horrible, and I had an allergic reaction to whatever she gave me on the cotton ball. read more
