The office is very comfortable and welcoming, and Dr Emily James and the team take exceptional care of their patients. Every time that we have visited, everything runs efficiently and promptly. Everyone is so friendly and kind. Dr. James is extremely knowledgeable and incredibly detailed with her exams. She has excellent communication skills and makes you feel so comfortable. I truly enjoy the time that I am in the office for my annual exams. I can't say that about all medical appointments! For those looking for glasses, the selection to choose from is large. However, it has been awhile since I have gone to the office but when I recently went I found out my medical records have been shredded and trashed. I checked and I came multiple times within seven years (time period for offices to maintain records) and when I asked the front desk receptionist, she wasn't very sympathetic or cared. Alan used to have a really great receptionist but this recent one comes across as rude and not following proper medical practice of trashing medical records. Further, when picking up my glasses, she was rude about the kind of glasses I got and called them cheap and "made me feel better" by getting a Dulce & Gabbana bag. Because of my back injury, over the years my vestibular system has been off and has gotten worse. It's very hard to find a neuro-optometrist in general, so when I found Dr.Simons I was really happy. And now, honestly, I can't imagine going to anyone else but him. I feel like he listens to me very carefully when I explain my symptoms of dizziness and how my eye pain relates to my spinal alignment. I feel like he actually cares about the pain I go through and he tries to link it back to my eyes. He always replies back to my emails and his office is low key, it isn't super loud. Parking is a breeze with lots of spots and it's is easy to get to from the freeway, the 101. His office staff is nice, too.

Dr. Simons seems to genuinely care about people beyond their vision. We started vision therapy recently for my son who is 9. Janet is so patient. I haven't had a moment of apprehension. I trust the initial assessment. The vison therapy plan seems to be guided by specific goals with intermittent assessments to ensure time isn't being wasted. At home support is clearly explained and reinforced with written instructions. The amount of minutes expected to be completed at home is nominal. The practice at home has helped my son feel in control and a part of the therapy. We had done VT in the past. It was a chore that I had to drag my son to. With Janet and Dr. Simons, my son is showing pride and a certain eagerness to keep moving forward. We are thrilled that we found Dr. Simons and his staff.
