Juan was in charge of my painting project for my one-bedroom DC condo in Dupont Circle, and from the first time we spoke to the day the job was finished, he was 100% available to help in any way possible! He went out of his way to deliver me a book of paint swatches at my building to help me select paint colors, provided really knowledgeable opinions about my choices of color and helped me pick a palate that was elegant and fit with my space. They were also really flexible on scheduling a date and time to complete the work, on buying the paint for me (and brought a receipt) - making sure they chose the best quality paint at the best price - and working around my schedule! They were also one of the best price quotes I have received after meeting with 7 different contractors! They moved all the furniture themselves and did an IMPECCABLE job, leaving no mess behind! They also made sure I was happy with the work before leaving. They pay super great attention to every detail (some painters will just paint around window treatments or leave air vents unpainted - they removed and replaced my window treatments and made sure everything was painted very precisely, so I had no messy edges). I can't recommend them enough! I will definitely use Juan again when I renovate my kitchen and need it painted.

They showed up at 10:00 as I was told they would, and they are just now at 4:00 cleaning up! And this is a huge fence, 8' tall and long. I will certainly use them again!! wish I'd known about them sooner. Thanks!! Kelly M., Gaithersburg MD

Their staff treats every yard as if it were their own, providing exceptional attention to detail and consistently outstanding service. It is now the last days of October and they still have not returned our email or phone calls in months. They also have not done the first clean-up which is typically in October. This might be my first ever Yelp review, but I felt there were a few aspects of my experience with…read morethe Larin company that led me to speak up. 1. Scope of Work: I found the company's business card in my mailbox or under my doormat and wanted to support a local small business. I was in need of landscaping for our new home, including mulching, trimming, and weeding. 2. Issue Arises: Roughly two weeks after Mr. Larin and his team finish the job, we noticed that the varieties of mint that we planted in our garden had been (incorrectly) removed. Rather than take ownership and apologize, Mr. Larin's wife accused me of lying about the mint - only to later ask why I didn't alert them to the mint (that I apparently never had in the first place!). Doh. 3. One Month Review: I was prepared to take this one on the chin and never use the company again. But one month later the job, a massive infestation of weeds returned (which essentially sent us back to square one). Yesterday, another contractor giving us a quote for another project made an offhand comment that we needed weeding done (of course we do!). But he was surprised to hear that we paid over $2k for this work the month prior. He believes the team either did not hand pull the weeds from the root or did not lay down a herbicide etc. to prevent regrowth, but explained that both steps were "a no-brainer." Conclusion: I'm hoping this unfortunate saga (including dozens of texts and money wasted) can help someone out there! Consider finding a landscaper who stands by their work, puts their clients first, and goes the extra mile not to earn a quick buck but rather earn a client for life!

John Shorb provided excellent service: extremely responsive, reasonable price, and solid recommendations throughout the process. We primarily worked with Rasma and Todd who listened to what we wanted and were able to offer expertise on how best to make it all work. Rasma's thorough consultation included recommendations for tree trimming to ensure the sod would take hold as well contacts to have our rain garden reimbursed. The team cleared and tilled the backyard, filling it mostly with sod (it was previously muddy and covered with low laying grass/moss). The team not only provided water recommendations but helped set up our sprinkler system. They re-purposed plants in our yard to different areas that were better suited for light and aesthetics and weeded areas that we wanted to leave as-is. They told us about DC's rain garden reimbursement program which we implemented. After Day 2 and a severe rain we noticed a bit of a drainage issue which they resolved immediately. Rasma and Todd's team were friendly and even went above and beyond to make other improvements as needed to make the backyard really standout (added additional gravel to the gate entrance, extended the rock creek drainage and re-purposed healthy plants in areas they would thrive. They also cleared under our deck (removing concrete slabs, old bricks and mismatched stones), leveled it and added a natural stone patio/walk-way filled in with Delaware gravel. The job did extend 2 days beyond what was planned, but given the level of service and finish we would highly recommend them to anyone in the area. We plan to use them again for Phase II of landscaping and hoping to incorporate more features in the coming seasons.
