Smoked Meat & Squid Luau Combo Plate
    Aaron T.

Laverne's Food Truck is my go to Hawaiian food spot every time I come home. Like can be long during the lunch hours. I always get the combo plate with Smoked Meat and Squid Luau. Reasonably price with a lot of flavor! Highly recommend

Decided to stop by for a plate lunch. Located by the old Sears parking lot. If you're in the Aiea area. Give this place a try. Aloha, Derek

    Laulau and Kalua pig plate
    Jen C.

I needed lunch so I stopped by to check out the food trucks at the Pearlridge parking lot near the intersection of Kamehameha hwy and Pali Momi street, You will see Laverne truck in the mix of trucks. I got the laulau and kalua pig plate for $16.75, it was a little more than I wanted to spend but they gave a large portion of food that I ate the leftovers for dinner! Two meals in one. The plate came with Kalua pork, lau lau, two scoops of rice, lomi salmon and haupia, The lau lau was good, the meat was a little dry but the other side to counter that would be to put a chunk of fat inside and maybe I don't want to eat more fat so it was good. The kalua pig was very good, smoked but not too much and lots of flavor to go perfectly with the rice. The lomi salmon was good as well as the haupia, I want to go back to try some of their other dishes. I would get this plate again since the price was well worth it.

Clear plastic piece found in my squid luau.

Smoke meat was a winnah but rice was practically cold. Just ate the meat with the Mac salad which was good too.

Prices high for small portions. Pork Adobo was just pork in a white gravy and not real pork adobo. Was kinda confused. Service was meh.

I was so happy to he invited to this Yelp event that I was able to bring my family to try as well. We ordered a few different things but I forgot to take pictures of everything because it was so good it was gone before I remembered lol. My husband ordered the BBQ mix plate (chicken, kalbi, beef) the flavors were delicious! The kalbi had a good amount of meat and was very tender. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The beef was a little tough but not bad. My son ordered the laulau kalua pig combo and omg...soooo ono! The pig was juicy and perfectly smoked. I with there was a little more of it and less cabbage but would still order again. The laulau was delicious with a generous amount of pork. I love that it wasn't salty and you can actually taste the flavor of the pork and lū'au leaf. We ordered my daughter fried fish plate and she said it was good but she didn't care for the Mac salad because it had onion. The pineapple cucumber juice was very refreshing but tasted mainly of cucumber. While we were there my son tried the 808 timer challange and won! He hit the timer right at 808 and won a $20 gift card we will definitely be back to use! They are also running a 2nd anniversary special with 12% off your 1st order online and $6.99 all day breakfast. Make sure to sign up for the loyalty program to earn points towards free food!

We went to a Yelp event and I decided to invite my family members to grab lunch, but before heading…read moreout I tried calling to make sure they were open because of the problem with Lala approaching Hawaii we were getting rain and strong winds. I tried calling 3 times but it go straight into voicemail and cuts, so no chance of talking to anyone. So we decided to leave earlier and let the family know if they were open or not because they would be driving in from Kaimuki area. They were open, so we had lunch there, I checked in and ordered off the Yelp order sheet. I ordered the spicy chicken and spicy pork and it came with rice & macaroni salad and fresh apple salad and a choice of pineapple cucumber drink or a halo halo drink the reviews said that the pineapple cucumber drink tasted more like cucumber, so I decided on the halo halo. The spicy pork was very tasty and not overly spicy and the spicy chicken seems like they use chicken breast so it was thick and the marinade was only on the surface and the chicken was dry. The fresh apple salad was very good and the sesame dressing was good and when well with the salad. The Kalbi was good and tasty The crinkle cut French fries came out hot and crispy which was great! The mix plate was huge with Teri beef, beef curry, hamburger patty with gravy, it was very good. The halo halo was tasty and good They don't have a restroom and when asked if the shopping complex had a public restroom, they said no you need to go to the other shopping mall which she said go to Seafood City they have restroom. I'm surprised that all the restaurants and retail outlets there and they don't have a restroom for all their customers that go there. They are located in the old Highway inn restaurant that used to serve Hawaiian Food and sell fresh seafood. There is a lot of restaurants and other shops in this complex, so it could get difficult with parking.

I used to go here all the time to get my filipino food fix. Unfortunately they closed the Kalihi…read morerestaurant and now have to make the drive out to Waipahu. If you have never been here I highly recommend you trying their filipino food. Portion size is good and worth the money but the main reason you're buying their food is cause it's winnahs. I did take out a few of their menu items. Their special for July is lechon Kawali, pancit, pork gisantes and pork adobo fried rice. It's good to get this or mixed plate with 3 choices. It allows to try more of their menu selections. While one is good 3 or 4 is much better especially if coming here for the very first time. You won't be disappointed. I called in to place my order and it would be twenty minutes which is fine cause that's how long it took me to get there. The food was hot and ready to go. I made sure my ac was off so I can enjoy a nice hot lunch. The place was crowded even at 1pm. People know good food when they eat it. Lots of parking. The lechon Kawali was good. It's nice and meaty with some nice soft fat pieces. Oh so good. Yeah if you are worried about cholesterol then this might not be for you. If not you gonna enjoy it. The pancit is good. The pork gisantes which is more commonly known as pork and peas is really good. It's like stew and you wanna mix your rice with it. If you like eggs over easy then you should have that over your gisantes. It's sooooooo good. Kinda like Loco moco except it's stew. When that yolk breaks and blends in with the gisantes hoo boy. Just really good stuff there. Then the main attraction is their pork adobo fried rice omelet. I believe they were the original restaurant that brought it out. I might be wrong but they make it just right. Every bite is so good especially when you bite into one that has fat in it. Yummy. Yeah not a good choice if you're staying away from cholesterol but if not you're gonna enjoy it. The pork adobo fried rice is not dry like some other places I've tried. Ok I admit i love filipino food. I had to get dinuguan. Chocolate meat. Another winner with rice and really good with over eggs on top of it. Nice tender succulent pieces of pork. Oh my God, it's so good. I also got Shanghai lumpia. This is da bomb. You gotta eat this one hot and fresh. If not it gets stale and soggy so I ate this first. You dip it into vinegar. I like a little heat so I add Tabasco to it. Great with beer. It's so good. I'm missing it already. Then the final dish i got was their sari sari. It's soup with mixed veggies, baby shrimp and lechon. The soup is delicious and comforting. It's great on a cold night or maybe when you're feeling sick. Better than your chicken noodle soup for sure. It's also great remedy for that hangover you got last night. Lol All in all you just gotta try it. Let me know what you got and how good it tasted. Enjoy and thank me later.
