I hired Lavender Lash and Blowout Bar to do the makeup for my wedding on October 18, 2019 based on the interactions I had with their makeup artist, Jessica O'Bannon, at the bridal show in January. She accepted payment through Venmo, which was very convenient for me. I opted to do a trial session prior to the wedding to figure out how I wanted my makeup to look. UPDATE - after posting this, Sheila (the owner) reached out to me again to apologize and repeat her offer for free services. It seems (and I hope) that my experience was completely out of the ordinary for this salon and that steps have been taken to ensure it won't happen again. I scheduled a hair and makeup appointment for my engagement photos. When I showed up for my appointment there was only one person in the salon, doing nails on another customer. There was no receptionist and no one greeted me. I waited 10 minutes, then had to interrupt the nail appointment to ask if she knew where my stylist was. The girl was very nice and jumped up to help, checked the appointment book and confirmed my appointment was there in the book. She then started calling the stylist, who was not answering the phone. She also called the owner. Eventually (20 minutes past my appointment time), the stylist was contacted, and confirmed she had forgotten the appointment and was 30 minutes away and had her child with her. I spoke with her, and she said she could try to find someone to watch her child, and then come in and do either my hair or makeup. I told her that wouldn't work, as I had an appointment for my photos (which I had also made clear when scheduling), and needed both hair and makeup done. The owner called and apologized a few minutes after I left (she was out of town). She was nice and apologetic, and also offered a complimentary hair and makeup session in the future. She said it was tough since it was a Sunday and there were no back-up stylists available. Unfortunately, it was not possible to reschedule the engagement photos so I had to do my own hair and makeup. While I appreciate the efforts of the business to make it right, a business that is focused on weddings and special events needs to ensure that the scheduled stylist shows up on important event dates or that someone else is available. read more

I have been going to LISA HOLMAN for almost 20 years now. I have always been extremely pleased with her work. Lisa is passionate about what she does and takes great pride in her work as moist artists do. Yes, I said artist for that is what she is. She is kind, gentle and wants to make sure she pleases every single client who sits in her chair. I believe it is important to note, I am an extremely picky person when it comes to my hair. When I first moved to Rocklin, I interviewed, yes interviewed, many potential hair dressers. I tried out a few and none of them worked out and then I found Lisa and have not been to anyone else since then. I will admit (due to finances) I tried box color on my hair once or twice during those almost 20 years but after laughing together about my results, she always fixed it. With my hair, that was not easy but she didn't give up. More times then I can count she has taken the time to stay way past what I know she would have normally, just to make sure I LOVED the result. I ALWAYS HAVE!!!! We have often joked over the years, if I ever move out of the area, I would make the drive no matter where she is to make sure I remain her client. In all honesty, it is not a joke. A good trustworthy hairdresser who is fair with their prices and more importantly cares if you are truly happy with her artistic work is invaluable! I believe it is important to note, I am almost 50 and have a lot of gray mixed in with my used to be blonde hair. I am sure my hair has been a challenge once or twice for her especially when I wanted to go dark brown and then back to my natural color (not to mention, my botched box jobs I inflicted on my hair). My usual hair color I go with is hiding my gray amongst blonde, with chunky low lites. She always nails it! Lisa has always been kind, helpful, professional and as I stated before really cares about what each client thinks about her artistic abilities. She truly is an artist. I have followed Lisa around as she has worked her way up to more distinguished salons in the area. I must say, I really love Lavender Salon, the owner takes great pride in her business and is always updating and trying to grow her business. I have always had a very pleasurable experience their with all of the artist who work there and would recommend Lisa and Lavender Salon to anyone. I came in to get a color correction which involved also doing a color melt and balyage. I got my hair done by Melyssa. I'm literally in shock at how she was able to fix my hair. I felt embarrassed wearing it in certain styles with the way it was before. It was a total nightmare! Of course she is, she is celebrity worthy. The receptionist took down my name and number and gave it to the nail tech, whose name is Nickie LaManna, told me she couldn't guarantee anything but she'd at least try. Two days later I received a text message from Nickie, because I missed her call. She was so kind to make an effort to schedule me for a cancellation she received. Oh I was in heaven!!!! I took the day off of work just to make sure I could be there. Holy Moly was this the best thing that could have happened. I pull up to Lavender, which is super easy to find, I walk n and I am warmly greeted by the same lady who helped me out over the phone. Of course I am a jerk and forgot her name. So, I sit and wait for only a moment taking in all that is Lavender. Beautiful stations, cute boutique, and adorable stylists. I have to add a side note that I myself am a stylist and I scrutinize everything about a salon as my service is going down. Mainly cleanliness. I have NO complaints. Everything was spic and span! Nickie comes to get me for my nails, I go back in her cute room and I already know I am in for a treat. Clean, neat, organized, and oh my gosh, GLITTER! I was elated. Nickie not only treated me like I was a princess, she is the most dedicated, clean, sweet, caring nail tech you will ever find. She taught me things myself as a Cosmo, never knew! Gifted, talented, intelligent, and just all around adorable ?! I never want anyone to touch my hands and feet other than this woman. I love getting a good blowout. And I just moved to Rocklin a few months ago, so I was excited to learn Lavender was a nearby option that came with pretty solid Yelp and Facebook reviews. I booked an appointment for 4:30p on Valentine's Day. I was running a little late, but not by much, so I ended up rolling in at 4:37. I figured it was NBD; my hair isn't crazy thick or anything, so we'd make up the time easily. But they were SO weird about it -- and it was pretty off-putting, actually, as a first-time customer. The receptionist was chatty and friendly, but I think it was the owner who was the most unprofessional. She was like, "well, your stylist has to leave for another job at 5:30 so ... we'll see. Maybe we can skip the hand massage and cut some corners and go really really fast." All because of 7 minutes? I mean, I'm a pretty reasonable person, and fine, the girl had to get to her second job. But ... that didn't really feel like my problem. I booked for 4:30 a week ago, and it seemed to be no problem at the time, and like, if there's a scheduling conflict, that's on your end -- not mine, right? The other thing was, if we REALLY needed to rush, the stylist should have been with me ASAP, don't you think? There was like, a 10-minute window where I just sat in the front, feeling unwelcome, and a group was huddled up in the back, trying to figure out what to do. Awkward. FINALLY (we could have been done shampooing by now), the stylist grabbed me and was like, "yeah, this is fine, we'll just rush!" I stopped walking and offered to just cancel or come back another time. She insisted it was fine. It felt super lame. Don't take appointments you can't handle, you know? Find another stylist. Why is this an issue? All of that said ... the blowout itself turned out really nice. My hair looked amaz, it stayed in place the rest of the night, and I was happy with the stylist and my hair as the situation progressed. I guess I'm pumped I didn't walk out. Still ... all that said, I was charged full price, I thought the owner could have handled it better and I'm reluctant to come back. There was a super cute boutique up front and (Kaylee?) was nice/did great work. Still, I'm left with an unsavory feeling/first impression. Value your clients. (Oh and we were totally done with time to spare). Whatever. ***To update, I stand by my review. It wasn't 15 minutes. My overall impression is still pretty negative. And I offered to bounce at 5:30p, and my stylist insisted we finish up (we were done, it was just minor tweaks at that point). I appreciate the work of the stylist, she was great. I've been going to Denny Eastwood for 5 years now and he does a superb job on my cut and color every time. He truly is a master stylist with a wealth of knowledge and experience with cut and color. I lived in Roseville but had to relocate back to Elk Grove after my husband passed away and I still make the drive for Denny to cut and color my hair. He spends close to 3 hours and gives me the most perfect blonde I could ever hope for. He is just as talented with his hair cutting abilities. A wonderful salon! Solid FIVE STARS! I made an appointment here for a blow-dry and make-up a few Saturdays ago. My cosmetologist, Kelly Rose, was great! She was friendly, listened to what I wanted with my hair and make-up, made suggestions, and tried her best to accommodate my requests (I needed to get going by a certain time since I was on my way to an event that night). In short, she was just generally AMAZING! :-) The salon is very clean, and is actually quite spacious. The make-up was brand-new - Kelly had to open the packaging on most or all of them for my session (yes, even the brushes). Extra points for that! SEVEN STARS! :-) I ended up leaving the salon a few minutes after the time I planned to go, but I didn't really mind because I could see that Kelly did everything meticulously. And her work paid off - my hubby said my make-up was "just right" and I got several compliments at the party. I thought the price was reasonable for the services ($30 for the blow-out bar services included a hair wash with shampoo and conditioner, a quick scalp massage, and a hand massage with essential oil. I was also offered some wine but I declined because I was driving myself back home to get dressed for the event afterwards. The orange water was also good though). Stylists do a good job but this is such a noisy place. The music, grunge type rock station stuff, is turned up so loud, it is irritating. Combine it with blow dryers so people are constantly shouting. Tone it down folks, this is supposed to be relaxing. Wow. I just got Eyelash Extensions from Britney & Lindsay. Talk about an Amaze experience! There customer service provides an wonderful experience. They were very helpful when I called to book the appt over the phone, answering all questions. When you walk in the door, they are very attentive. This was my 1st time getting eyelash extensions, and if was better than I imagined. No watery eyes, no stinkng glue. If I didn't know, I really wouldn't even know they were using glue. The entire time I was there from start to finish I was never told for my hair it would cost more. I don't appreciate having services done and not given the opportunity to agree to a higher price. For this reason I would not recommend using this salon. Response to owner: that information was not given as you describe, maybe I was the one who didn't get such details. However- at the very least- you should tell clients BEFORE the work is started what the final price will be. As clients should be given the option to agree on a price.
