Her studio is accessible from 80 and is very inviting. She first did my makeup for my engagement photos first so I could really see if I liked her work. She did my makeup at 10am and it stayed flawless until 6pm that evening when we had our shots. That was a true test to me for how the makeup would stay on during the wedding. She is very sweet and really took her time getting my look to be exactly what I wanted. She sets a block of time out for you, but will go the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect for you. She gives you tips about makeup along the way and really gets to know you as her client to know what look you're going for. I would really recommend the trial run for weddings. When I did mine it made me feel very comfortable and reassured about how I was going to look that day. As much as you plan, there are still so many unknowns about how that day will go, and doing the preview took some stress off my shoulders to know that I will look amazing. Actually, after I did my preview, my mom and my sister did one as well! For my wedding, Jessica and Lydia did hair and makeup for at least 5 people and myself. It was so fun having all of us in the hotel with their spread of makeup and hair products across the room. Lydia was also wonderfully sweet and friendly and I would not object to hanging out with both of them again the the future just for fun. :) The hair and makeup may seem like a lot more than normal, but it photographs beautifully. I hired Jessica and her wonderful team at Polish and Pout for my wedding on Memorial Day weekend and they did an incredible job. First, I had a bridal trial done a couple of months prior at Jessica's home studio. She took her time talking to me about ideas I liked and what I had in mind. I would HIGHLY recommend a trial to any bride-to-be because it really lets you see how well the make-up will hold up during the day and your hair do. I went with a pretty traditional bridal look, natural but dramatic make-up and my hair curled and partially pinned back. I also had false lashes applied and everything stayed put ALL. DAY. LONG. We made minor adjustments for the day of, but everything looked and help up great. The day of, Jessica and her team came in ready to roll. She was professional and friendly, the entire time. I had hair and make-up done for myself, three bridesmaids and my mother. Everyone was done in time for the ceremony and everyone looked amazing. She did touch-ups as needed and gave the girls lip gloss for touch-ups after she was gone. Everyone was happy with their services and the bridesmaids hair (all done in up-dos) stayed put all night! (My friend who was in another wedding the following weekend and had the exact same up-do done said hers felt apart at the second wedding but was perfect all night for mine!). Jessica Palmer was referred to my by another makeup artist who was not available on my July wedding date. She was very friendly and had decent prices so I was excited to meet with her. I met Jessica in her home and she was very warm and welcome. It took about 2.5 hours the first time I met with her to discuss the look of my wedding and the look I was wanting for myself. She asked me to bring in pictures from magazines that had makeup looks that I liked and then proceeded to ask me why I liked them. She was able to take all of my rambled thoughts and mixed opinions and transalte them into an accurate description of what I really wanted. And then the makeup application began. I thought it was strange at first because she started with my eye makeup before she ever touched the rest of my face. When she explained that it's because all of the eye makeup can fall on your cheeks during application and it's much easier to make corrections if you do the face makeup last. This made a lot of sense to me when she explained it. Jessica also does eyelash application which I took full advantage of. I actually ended up going for a second consultation with Jessica because the look that I thought I wanted changed drastically and I wanted to see how my face would look on my wedding day before the day actually came. Both times Jessica worked absolute magic. And not just with me! Jessica actually did my mother's makeup as well. My mom hardly ever wears makeup and is pretty skeptical about anyone being able to make her look "good" when all that means to her is fake. But my mom was completely surprised and thrilled at the look Jessica gave her. It took 10 years off of my 60+ year old mama! I am in love with Polish and Pout! And that means a lot coming from someone whose makeup routine is usually a swipe of mascara and some Benetint on the cheeks. A quick synopsis: As I was preparing for my wedding last October, I really struggled with the idea of whether or not to hire someone to do my hair and makeup. I knew I wanted to provide the option for my wedding party, but I have never loved the way I looked after getting my face done professionally. Hiring Jess Palmer was definitely one of my best wedding planning decisions. I had agonized over if I wanted to spend the extra money on higher level hair and makeup services, and in the end I really feel it was so worth it to hire Jess. She was on a short list of professional makeup artist recommendations from my esthetician. The list was people who not only had the highest level of skill in her opinion (and she did wedding makeup earlier in her career), but were also really good people with warm personalities that take the best care of their clients. Not only did Jess do an excellent job on makeup for me, my mom, and my sister, but she also did an amazing job styling our hair as well. It was really great having her at my house the day of the wedding and not having to travel; she even helped me stay calm when we were finishing up and things got a little hectic with the photographer arriving and people coming and going. I used my makeup trial for my engagement photos and had her style my hair then as well. I did a wedding hair trial the week before the wedding, and even though I changed my mind several times and realized during it that I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, Jess was amazingly patient and somehow styled my hair just right the day of the wedding.
