I've came to this restaurant expecting good service, but I did not receive that. My expectations were high and this restaurant did not satisfy me. The server I was given was rude, and had attitude. She did not check up on us, or refill our glasses of water. She would also not take our cup of water back to the kitchen, as it took up too much space on the small tables, and we had finished our drinks already. In addition, she kept rushing us to pay the bill, like she wanted us to leave already, when we weren't even finished our food, and had a 2 hour time limit on our reservation. The service from the bus boys were good though, they were really nice and kind. As for the area, the music was so loud, that I could not even talk or have a casual conversation with my friends in front of me. As a fellow server who works in fine dining restaurant, I obviously tipped, I did not want to thought because of how horrible the service was. Lavelle needs train their servers on their customer service skills, or find servers who would actually value their customers. Furthermore, the food tasted horrible, it was cold, stale, and hard. We ordered the wagyu mac sliders, striploin & truffle mash, & sushi and 2 sangrias. wagyu mac sliders ($26): rate: 6.5/10; buns were toasted , but hard, meat was hard to chew, it tasted over cooked and was dry. striploin & truffle mash ($39): rate: 6/10; you would expect a bigger piece of steak for that price, the steak was the size of my palm, & wasn't cooked medium rare like requested. The fries that came with it were hard, and too salty. McDonald's fries tasted better than that. Then the kimchi brussels sprouts were cold, it was alright. sushi ($15): rate: 8.5/10; the sushi was the only food item that tasted good, but I've eaten better sushi for cheaper. As for drinks, the sangria was very watered down and doesn't taste as good as it appears. Let's be honest, the only reason why people go here is to take instagram pictures by the Cntower or by their pool patio, but trust me there are locations in Toronto where you can take those pictures without going to this garbage restaurant. My friends and I were so excited to come to Lavelle considering it was my friend's bachelorette party and I really wanted to give her a nice experience. The vibe was great and the food was pretty good (we ordered appetizers of chicken Karaage, truffle fries, wagyu burger sides and an alfredo pasta dish). Unfortunately our experience was dampened by our rude server Jenny. Firstly she seemed inexperienced and not knowledgeable about the menu. One of our friends asked about a tea they had on the menu and she did not know what type of tea it was and said she would ask, which would've been fine if she didn't made a snide remark of how it was hot outside anyway. What does it matter? If a customer wants tea, then she wants the tea, what's with the attitude? We then couldn't find her to take our orders. After about half an hour she finally came by to take the orders. I asked her to please get the vegan spicy mayo for our truffle fries as one of our friends is lactose intolerant. In fact, I repeated it twice. When the fries came out, there was no mayo on the side. Afterwards, she promptly abandoned our table. Didn't come by even once to ask how our food was or refill our waters. We actually had to ask a busser for water. Appalling. In the end I tipped her 10%. Great brunch spot with an awesome view. Half of the place is restaurant and other half is pool bar. Came here on Saturday for brunch, no line ups. Tried the short rib Benedict, pork belly Benedict, duck hash and French toast. I loved the short rib Benedict the most, pork was tender and the sauces complimented the dish well. I felt that the duck hash was lacking- not much duck at all mostly potatoes. French toast was nothing special. Overall thought the food was ok but has a nice view. Came to Lavelle for a bachelorette party and was pleased that they still accommodated us after being 30 minutes late for our dinner reservation. However, the food is extremely overpriced for mediocre taste. Service was slow, and we were all left hungry and disappointed with our meals. After our dinner (which took 45 mins to get our bills), we moved into the bar area where myself and one other girl went to the bar to get the 6 of us drinks. Bartender Taylor began yelling at us, saying we were being "rude" and even when I asked "how come?" we were just berated at with more angry words. As a bartender myself, I understand the frustration with some people's orders. However, ours was 6 drinks and we were very polite about it! I was APPALLED with this kind of treatment and he took our payment without even a thank you. Lastly, a man trying to get through the crowd of people very roughly pushed one of my girlfriends down to the ground, where the security saw and came rushing over to ask if she was okay. Luckily she was, however we were more appalled that they did nothing to kick this guy out, because he was wearing a white wristband to get him into the VIP area. I was visiting Toronto in early July and the weather was hot about 75-78 Fahrenheit. So this place is a great hangout for summer if you are into relaxing by the pool and have drinks with nice music playing in the background. There is a $30 cover charge to get into the pool area. I give it a 3 stars because of these: 1- The cocktails were "ok" and nothing extraordinary for the price you pay(overpriced). Also the prosecco was warm. 2- They charge you automatically 20% service no matter how much you spend and according to the waitress this doesn't entirely go to the waiter/waitress. So you end up paying another 10-15% on top of that for waitress/waiter which I found it ridiculous and unreasonable. read more

I would like to recognize one of your employee , I believe he is a supervisor or manager name "Mani" he really is caring the customers. He saved our first experience there from bad to excellent. We arrived there with reservations but still need some small line up due to some covid 19 protocols which we totally understand. So we eventually seated at 7pm about 15 mins later than the reserved time. However, we got another table rather than the one written down on our table sheet. The table we should've got was seated by another group already. So the host bring us to a table near the kitchen with no view and the table it broken. We let them know we may need to change seat with the table broken, the waiter decided to let us sit near the bar to wait cause the waiter said other empty tables are all reserved and can't squeeze us in. After that, no one trying to resolve things and we were basically ignored. Finally about 30mins later Mani came with passion and quickly action. He tryed to remove the broken table and get us another one. Eventually he got us a better table with a good view near the pool and served us free bubbles. This was my first visit to Toronto and upon arrival almost every local I spoke with recommended this place. Let's start with the overall ambience and layout of the rooftop bar which features amazing views of the the Toronto skyline. It happened to be Caribana weekend so this place was pack as expected and the Levelle was hosted by Mona who is a legend around the Toronto party scene. I would recommend visiting on a Thursday or Friday night and find a seat at the bar for quick service. The Levelle also has an amazing pool so visit during the day on Saturday or Sunday for some sun and cocktails. read more

I went to Lavelle for brunch with 5 of my girlfriends. To enter Lavelle on King and to get the lounge/restaurant, just head down the stairs and take the elevator up to the rooftop floor. We made reservations ahead of time for a Sunday brunch and that was definitely a good call because although it was raining that day, the restaurant was still full of brunch go-ers. We got our own private room near the back which actually has a huge square table for 8 (which was nice so you could all actually talk to each other). I got the Smoked Salmon Benedict and it was amazing!! Definitely recommend getting this. The 6 of us also split a French Toast which was a little small to split among 6. I think next time we'll be getting 2 sweet breakfast items to split between 6 people. The service was fast and our waitress was very attentive. She would come in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. We were never left sitting around waiting for her. It's a chic rooftop pool bar, restaurant and lounge that draws in the young, wealthy, and fashionable. Unlike Thompson's rooftop lounge, Lavelle is accessible to the public. Drinks and food can be expensive but look at where you are, you're on top of the world, partying with Toronto's elite socialites (or at least that's how it feels). It's pretentious, yes, the people are sometimes snobby, yes, the staff is friendly though and even the doormen are nice too. Pas: If you like more bespoke places, you like to relax with a drink or prefer a more intimate setting. Go: if you like places like Shangri-La lobby lounge, the Thompson, the Ritz, four seasons etc. You like dressing up, taking pictures, people watching, socializing, don't mind spending a fair amount of money, like to take pictures for IG, etc. The space if beautiful, the bar and restaurant is sophisticated, modern and sexy. Yes, the pool is useless, but you're not going there to swim anyways. P.S if you're wearing heels you do have to be mindful of the gaps in the decking to ensure you don't fall or ruin your heels. read more

This is a review for their Brunch. Considering the swanky location, I was actually shocked that this place was practically empty at 11am, while lets say, Portland Variety, is always packed! Anyway, no complaint here. Greeted by the hostess, who was friendly and let us pick whichever table we wanted to sit at. The servers were friendly and attentive, ours was professional and gracious. We ordered latte, which was very foamy and yummy. Our food did take a while to come but they're worth the wait! We ordered the pancake to share, which was stacked 4 high and each cake was huge. You know how Mildred's is known for their buttermilk pancake? Well, Lavelle's pancake is definitely a strong contender! I ordered the pork belly benedict for myself and it was delicious! The hollandaise sauce was different, but yummy! The eggs benny was cooked to perfection and the pork belly added a great dose of saltiness and crunch! Definitely will order that again next time! The brunch pricing is standard, typical King St West pricing, which I found to be a nice surprise! I recommend this place for brunch! Take your girlfriends! We visited Lavelle for NYE and am very pleased we all did so. The atmosphere was very pristine without being pretentious. (I guess that can be decided once you're there though, right?) We each felt very comfortable. There were no snobby staff members. Each happy to serve. The views of the city are beautiful but mostly near the restrooms. That's not their fault, but is the only reason why I chose not to provide a full five star rating. Still go make the time to visit. You won't regret it. Our drinks were made to enjoy and we definitely did! Their staff took care of us the entire time and we didn't break the bank at all. After a year, here I am again. What a game changer this has become since my last visit! I was hesitating whether I should revisit again because on my first visit, my birthday party was a total disaster! Everything went wrong. This goes from constantly calling for inattentive server, bringing wrong food orders, notifying the guest with totally different soup of the day without admitting that it's wrong, overcharging cake fee without any prior notice, and given us terrible service with the eyes of a racist manager. The only reason for me to come back was because they told me that the manager is no longer with their company anymore and wanted to make up for such a terrible evening. Everyone deserves a second chance and I was glad I made the right choice! This time everything was impeccable, definitely worth visiting! I have never been in the restaurant during day light so I highly suggest starting an early dinner which is what we did since we have two little girls with us. I would go in early just so you can get the full experience along with some ig worthy photos. The outdoor pool side booth view was just spectacular and of course needless to say that the food was great too! We opts for the 10 course meal along with some side dishes for the little girls that night. All the staff including Chef Romain made a visit to the table to say happy birthday to my sister to ensured that we all had a pleasant evening. There are numerous exceptional gourmet offerings that everyone LOVED- after we stayed because it became extremely busy with an amazing looking crowd and one of the best DJs I have ever heard. When I was last there on a Thursday evening there was a good vibe and the music they were playing was great (chill and loungey). We were there on the earlier side (probably about 8-10PM) and it wasn't too busy yet - my friends and I had no problem grabbing a drink at the bar then finding a place to sit. It's not cheap (glass of wine came up to about $20) but a nice spot to have a drink with a friend or date. read more

Went here yesterday for a "for the culture" day party (hip hop, afrobeats, etc). I had been to Lavelle only once before for a very nice brunch. I don't usually write reviews but the absolutely shit bar staff really made me want to. The party was busy and the place has two bars. The bigger bar had maybe 4 bartenders. We got drinks at that one first. We had to change our position 3 times before getting to a spot where we thought we'd get noticed and even then waited about 30min to get our drink order taken. Later, still at the big bar, a blonde girl was taking drinks and after waiting about 20min she finally acknowledged our existence and started to take my order. Like leaned in to me, I started to tell her what I wanted then she rolled her eyes and abruptly turned away to take the order of a group beside me. Then took 4 more orders or so before coming back to me and my friends after another 20 min or so. Then we realize oh there's a second bar! It's smaller and seemed to have less of a line. Let's try that one. Turns out that bar had only one bartender. There were 5 or so staff behind there at any given time, but only one taking drink orders. There was a girl in a black top standing there just watching, another guy dancing (joined by yet another man dancing), and some people who seemed to be refilling bottle service, but none of these people were speaking to those at the bar or trying to help out with drink orders. The crowd at both bars were very frustrated. Bartenders weren't trying to take orders in the order people arrived and weren't even making eye contact or apologizing as people stood there trying to get their attention. That's my only complaint about the party. Getting in was easy. Music was great. Views are amazing and when it did start to rain, the roof closed and the party continued. But holy hell, hire more bartenders and/or make better use of the staff you do have. read more

So much potential here but the staff is too young, the managers are clueless and the food is terrible. We went to celebrate my birthday. Had 2 bottles of wine that we poured ourselves and we were sitting at the bar. The seafood "tower" is a platter of overcooked seafood. No one ever checked how it was. The manager Michelle took 10% off the food- it was insulting; after telling us we shouldn't have been served food at the bar. Regardless of where it was served it was overcooked seafood and not a tower. This might be the worst service I've ever had literally sitting in front of the bartender. Getting a manager was also challenging. She tried to make it up with a slice of cake - if I wanted cake I would order cake. Deal with the atrocious service and poorly trained kitchen staff. The washrooms are so small, filthy, and not maintained. I'm shocked the city allows washrooms so tiny. The security takes money from people to get ahead in the washroom line up. Who does this?! The doormen chase people around upstairs to stamp them - stamp people if they leave and plan to re-enter . Protocol seems to be not well thought out. The place is ridiculous, and no one seemed to care. They desperately need experienced bartenders, managers with a common sense. Perhaps an evening dress code. Our bill was $300, which i'd happily spend for a great experience anywhere, but we'll never go back. Everything has been designed and furnished without luxurious and high-end style finishes, the furniture is of inferior quality, the sound system is terrible, the bathrooms are deficient, and the patio area is seriously... just ghetto. If the developers (Peter Freed and his partner Reza Abedi) had simply taken a trip to New York, Miami, or Las Vegas, they would have been able to get a clue and make something special. If they went to Dubai, they would have been able to make a real winner out of this Toronto roof-top fiasco. read more

We had a reservation and even called in advance to see if a table is still there, they told us they had a table under the roof away from the rain, when we showed up, they told us "it's a patio, duh, you're in the rain, whatd you expect".
