Peruvian food tucked away in the Inner Sunset neighborhood. Taste of Persia and Lavash Special: protein consisted of lamb, and chicken. chicken was the best protein, marinated well with char marks on there. Saffron rice was light, ordered the yogurt salad and it was the perfect complement to the meats. Skewered veggies Baklava: buttery, crispy layer with nuts. not too sweet Foliage around the restaurant provides an intimate feel. Water was provided right away after sitting down. There is a flower shop outside attached to the outdoor dining section, heaters are present for patrons eating outside. Excellent food, great vibes.

Walked by this place many times, but somehow we have never been until recently. Sat outside. And surprisingly, we saw some drama about people either waiting for their food next door or maybe the bus using this restaurants tables/chairs/parklet while they were not customers. I guess that's life in the City. This place is nice with delicious food. Of note, we like their decor. They seem to do a good job incorporating indoor and outdoor with lots of flowers and foliage. Food is delicious. My hubby got the Aush reshteh which is a type of Persian soup featuring reshteh, kidney beans, chick peas, herbs, and kashk commonly made in Iran. Hot fried garlic, onion, and/or mint are used as edible garnishes. We also had a complimentary green salad, the Jujeh kabab (chicken), the Zereshk Polo (dried barberries), which are small, tart, and flavorful red berries that are a staple in Persian cuisine paired with saffron rice and chicken. It's a bit sweet, sour and tangy. We also got the skewer barg (filet mignon) that tasted great and paired nicely with all the other dishes. We also got Persian tea to wash it all down. Service was pleasant. Located on Irving and 6th Ave.

I made a reservation online informing the restaurant I was celebrating my adult daughter's birthday. The staff went above and beyond to make this such a special and memorable day. We were given a complimentary appetizer & they surprised both of us by personalizing the dessert plate of the delicious Tiramisu with fresh berries and cherry sauce. I ordered the SOUP-E ADAS (Lentil soup spiced with ground cumin, carrots, and celery) which I shared with my daughter and we both thought it had amazing flavor and taste. For my main course I had KABOBS (Served on Lavash bread with basmati saffron rice, grilled tomato, onions, fresh herbs, and sumac seasoning) with JOOJEH (chicken breast and thigh meat marinated in lime, olive oil & saffron) which brought back memories for me of dining in Turkey. If I had unlimited wealth (which I don't as a solidly blue-collar self-employed entrepreneur) I'd eat at this restaurant more often. Getting to spend quality time with my daughter with delightfully friendly service, a quiet environment and a spectacular taste of Iran will be a highlight of 2026. Highly recommended for those special occasions or if you are a foodie!

Taste of Persia

Initially didn't have any expectations and was initially not excited before the food came as it wasn't something I was craving. However I have to say Lavash has changed my perspective and made me reflect on my attitude that night. The food is divine. Do yourself a favor and get the taste of Persia, it is absolutely stunning and the perfect meal to share (or not!). Loved the food, the service and the ambiance!! Will definitely be back.

Excellent food, friendly attentive service, cozy romantic relaxing dimly lit dining room inside, Parklet seating outside (with heat lamps). But most of all, the Persian cuisine here is excellent. I totally fell in love with the Joojeh (Chicken) Kabab plate here - big chunks of chicken breast PERFECTLY prepared moist and juicy inside with just the slightest hint of char on the outside to bring out the flavors! This plate is served over a huge bed of rice and accompanied by a succulent broiled tomato. Loved this dish, and I cant't wait to return. The other dishes we had were good too, but the Joojeh was the most memorable. Verdict: I can't wait to be back.. seriously!

Great service and food at Lavash! I came for lunch on a Saturday and experienced no wait despite having no reservation. I shared a Taste of Persia which came with an appetizer of veggies and a huge platter of kebabs / skewers. Highly recommend -- everything was so juicy and flavorful. The decoration was also nice and the restaurant felt very cozy. Would definitely visit again!

Zereshk Polo

Oh my goodness, Lavash may be my favorite new discovery. I love Mediterranean food, but it was especially nice to find one serving authentic Persian cuisine. I was very torn between the Fesenjan and the Zereshk Polo, I went with the Zereshk and I am so happy with my choice. I love barberries, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My friend had the Prawn Kebab, no photo but it was beautiful - her grilled veggies looked delicious. Our server was flawless, and so helpful in his recommendations. He provided complimentary lavash with goat cheese, herbs, cucumber and tomato, it was a lovely little starter. The vibe inside was comfortable and intimate, a perfect location for date night or catching up with good friends. The little parklet outside is a cute addition to an adorable little neighborhood in the Sunset. Lavash is a perfect stop after a day at the park or Academy of Science. We will absolutely return.

Ados Polo

This restaurant is a gem. It's my best discovery of 2025. I don't usually hang out in the Sunset and maybe I should have. Excellent food, warm service and beautiful decorations. - Fesenjan: the sweetness from pomegranate molasse combined with the earthiness from the walnut created a beautiful dish. I haven't had such a delicious sauce for a long time. - Salmon & shrimp kebab: grilled perfectly - Adas polo: the date mixed with rice was definitely interesting. It tasted good but I prefer Fesenjan. - Marinated olive: yummm We sat outdoor on a sunny day and there was a booth decorated with fresh flowers. It's so beautiful. I will come back to try more things here especially the koobideh.

Lentil soup

Pleasant ambience, great service and delicious food! My friend and I had the Taste of Persia for two, Kotlet also for two, lentil soup and a small salad was comped. Outdoor seating was also available. Street parking. Place was busy! A little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for in the quality of food. I'd recommend it.

I have to admit, Lavash really exceeded my expectations. I had it delivery once a long time ago so I knew it was good, but eating here in person wowed me. The kebabs are amazing (chicken, salmon, shrimp), and we love the fesenjan. I can't think of a better Persian restaurant in SF, let alone the entire Bay Area.

SOLTANI skewer of barg and skewer of koobideh

The food here is delicious!! The restaurant is in a cute and quiet neighborhood within the Inner Sunset, very close to muni stops. I suggest making a reservation ahead of time, especially if you have a group of 4+ people. The ambiance is very nice, with lots of florals and even some outdoor seats with some heat lamps. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating, and service is pretty quick. FOOD: I ordered the Soltani kabob combo plate which is one skewer of barg (sliced fillet mignon) and skewer of koobideh (mixed ground beef and lamb), served with rice. The kabobs are cooked to perfection every time! The combo plates are a generous serving, so easy to share or have leftovers. For dessert I had the "sweet special" which is baklava and a scoop of ice cream, I always go with the pistachio flavored ice cream, so good!

I walked in for a late lunch today and had an incredible meal. The Lavash salad was an absolute delight. I also had the beef & lamb kabobs which was delicious, but forgot to snap a pic. Wonderful service, so kind. Will definitely return!

Lamb chop

3.5/5 stars Service was pretty on point, never really waved him over except the check . Fairly empty at 6pm on a weekday. The appetizer we ordered came with bread, cucumbers, tomato's , mint and some cheese with Greek yogurt definitely worth it. The yogurt pretty much went with everything and kinda made everything better and refreshing but only their bread is free. 3.5/5 Lamb chops!! The one thing you must get here . I gotta say it was just perfection. American style has nothing on this. The meat on the chops were succulent. 5/5 Taste of Persia: These were seasoned less as you can taste the spices but they still had a bland-ish taste to it when it hit the tables. Was pretty good but eventually dried up. It was my first time having Persian food so not use to it but for a first timer(could be others too) it wasn't all too special flavor wise. 3.5/5 Not my cup of tea but worth trying, a little pricey but I was full the rest of the night til morning.

Lavash Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Lavash

Are walk-ins welcome?

Yes, we were a walk in!

Does anyone know where they got the choclava from? Or what the name of their sister bakery is a few doors down?

Is this the same restaurant that will be opening up in Lafayette, CA?

Nope. They are different!

Does anyone know when they will reopen?

They are open now.

Does anyone know if Lavash has opened up again after the fire?

They just reopened after Christmas of 2019; only dinner service during weekdays, lunch and dinner on Fridays-Sundays for now.

Did lavash reopen, cant wait to come again, great food?

Yelp says Lavash Restaurant is temporarily closed. Scheduled to reopen on August 13, 2018 ... but there's nothing posted on lavashsf.com about it ... but then again there's nothing posted about the fire there either so take that with a grain of salt

Did this place close? I've called several different times and there's no answer. Also tried ordering for delivery and it wouldn't allow me.

It's closed until further notice. A fire destroyed it? no one hurt thank goodness.

We were told 10/15 minutes for a table. Took 50 minutes - nearly an hour! We totally should have gone somewhere else but alas we eventually were seated. I got pasta and also and some of the pinsa (Roman style pizza). Also had the meatballs. Everything was just so so. The pizza almost tasted stale - someone mentioned it is supposed to be like that but I've had pinsa a few times and that was not my experience. The pasta was pretty good - a red sauce. Nothing special. Meatballs also solid. Somehow my pasta came up 12-15 mins after everything else's food which was entirely confusing but oh well. The wine was good. Overall a cute little wine bar in CV, would def come back but nothing to write home about.

I was not a " stranger who walked from Haight street to your premises. Make no mistake about it. The scope of trust and honesty is more valuable and important than the scope of ice cream . At the request of my daughter and my grandmother we went to the ice cream bar this last Wednesday, taking to account we have been customers for the past 10 years on and off , we would drive from Marin just to have the ice cream there . We have seen employees come and go including Managers. Since my kids went to Grattan school. At times I personally like to pay for things in cash . We know most customers about 67% would pay by credit cards. To make a long story short. I wanted to pay my bill in $100 bill . Brand new , undamaged and straight from Wells Fargo bank. Negative thoughts would generate actions , negative actions would generate negative prejudice. What were the odds of having a family and customer using malice in bad faith? I presented the legal tender of $100 bill to The server, he took the money and checked 4 times looking at the number at the front, he used his left hand using his fingernails to scratch the bill in a strange way, like if it was a lottery ticket or a gift card , we know that large bills should be checked. then stated that he cannot accept the bill and that he had no change. Immediately, objected to his statement. I told him I quote: " You didn't even open the cash register , how would you know if you have change or not " ? He responded sarcastically, I have been handling the money all day . I responded by saying: then you should know if you can make change or not . Furthermore, I stated to him that is not how you would check for a valid $100 bill . A special counterfeiting pen is ideal to check bills. I showed him the way to be checked by holding the bill upright and matching the serial numbers to the bill. He made no good faith effort to get help from his manager , to call someone or confer with a third party responsible. This has created an inconvenience for my family. Luckily, I brought a backup card and payed by discover card to diffuse the situation . I wonder how many $100 bills were passed by me for the last 10 years? I even suggested he should call the police if he was so sure that it was a counterfeit bill. It was certainly a legal tender of a good faith/ money and finance . Section U.S.C 31 5103. The Constitution says otherwise. The ice cream bar failed to warn . If it was a policy not to accept a $100 bill , it should have been known by a clear and convincing fact by posting a statement that " No large bills / $100 bills are accepted " in a clear view of customers to be seen. I have tried to communicate with the company's MANAGER by calling her 3 times . She did not bother to answer my request to address my concerns , " my phone calls were screened " and refused to take my phone calls or respond. See how easy to lose a customer. I will not recommend this place nor go black to this ice cream place.
