My chicken broccoli alfredo came with two small pieces of garlic bread which were delicious, but I have to say specifically that the chicken broccoli alfredo was sooo good! And there was so much of it that I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The portions were so plentiful and affordable. We got takeout but service was good and our order was ready in 25 or so minutes from when we called. The inside has a hometown feel, almost like Luke's from Gilmore Girls in that sense. The foods always good, but sometimes the service is extremely slow. We stood waiting to be acknowledged at the front for nearly 20 minutes before anyone even said "hi how many?" We were the only ones in line for 15 of the minutes. We were seated at our table and not acknowledged by anyone for another almost 20 minutes. Mediocre at best. Older waitress with glasses was clueless, inattentive, and slow. Tried multiple times to get her attention for coffee refill, but she looked down and ignored all tables as she walked past them. I even had to get my own syrup of the the center counter divider (Should just leave them on the table- it is breakfast time). Came to Lauren's as a party of 3 for brunch. The restaurant was pretty busy but the entire time we failed to see servers out and about. They came around the tables in spurts, maybe every 15 minutes or so. Everything seemed to take forever, like waiting to order, then the food, then the check. A quick brunch ended up almost a 2 hour ordeal. One time our server came over to ask how everything was, which was great as we were waiting for her to come by. We actually had a request but the server came over as we were eating (mouths full of food). She said "How is everything? Good?" and before we could actually say anything she walked away. The food is not that great. I ordered poached eggs and they were barely cooked and came in this dish with vinegar water in it. In the end I was left with a barely-cooked vinegar-egg soup. I got toast which was absolutely slathered in butter (I actually think it may have been margarine) that was only half melted, making the toast greasy. The homefries were okay, but very over seasoned and extremely salty. In the end I was left with a big stomach ache. Everyone else got pancakes and sides which looked pretty good, large serving size for the pancakes. They are generous with the blueberries in the pancakes. The oatmeal looked ok but arrives plain so you may want to order fruit, honey etc to put in it. The bacon looked a little undercooked, which I understand preferences vary there and some people prefer it "al-dente". Kind of understand this is supposed to be diner-style food, so the service is really what merits the rating here. Would give the food 3-3.5 stars given what it is. read more

I went with my wife for breakfast. The menu showed oatmeal $3.50, and that was exactly what I wanted. When the check came I noticed that the price was $4.50, so I pointed out to the server the discrepancy. She said she doesn't enter the price in the computer, just what was ordered. I asked her to verify that the menu said $3.50. She went away and when she returned her explanation was that a cup of oatmeal is $3.50 and a bowl of oatmeal is $4.50. I've been 2 more times since then and I have ordered the blueberry pancakes (as suggested by a co-worker) and my oh my so guuuuud! Seems to be this is a can't miss spot for breakfast. 1 piece of advice though. If you can manage to get out of bed early on the weekend if you plan on coming here do so. I happened to find this place accidentally because its not that easy to spot being that its in a plaza. In spite of having a bar which is part of the dining room, I found the restaurant to be cozy, and comfortable. We had an older woman for a waitress and she was great. She cleared dishes when they were used and refilled sodas without having to ask for a refill. Everything was clean and neat inside the restaurant. The hostess seated us promptly. I'd like to try the breakfast sometime in the future. I had the Shepard's pie and a salad and my friend had a cheeseburger with a side of clam cakes. Everything came out just right. The space between getting seated and getting our drinks and different courses was also timed just right. The prices were very reasonable. Two sodas, an order of clam cakes, salad, Shepard's pie, Cheeseburger and fries including tax was only 31.00. We both liked it and will be going back. read more

I can't speak to the quality of the food, but I can report on the poor service. I was in here today about 1 pm, and ordered a sandwich and onion rings. I decided to leave after waiting 40 minutes with no food and no status from the waitress. The waitress couldn't have cared less and didn't even bother to explain what caused the delay. I was never offered a refill on my drink, took a long time to order and then get our food, and had to ask two times for our check. Now my pay rate was too high for there restaurant. After 2 weeks no one called me. So I just ask Sue one of the managers I'll come get my one day check. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. My 87 yr old Mom wanted fish and chips for dinner so we checked around and found Lauren's online menu. The price was $14.99. A bit overpriced but since we heard good things about it, she decided to try it. Boy, was she disappointed. It was absolutely horrible. The fish was way overcooked, greasy as hell and even hard in some spots. It was so greasy, it made her sick. She couldn't even eat the fries. In the styrofoam take out container, they had the fish and fries on a piece of wax paper that was drenched. The fries were in a puddle of grease. We didn't notice the paper or puddle until after she ate the fish. To top it all off, she is having surgery in two days and just wanted fish and chips before going into the hospital. She almost ended up in the hospital from eating the fish. Absolutely disgusting! We will never go back there. read more

I will hit the negatives first. This place needs a vacuum badly. Carpets are covered in dirt, potato chips and so on. In the middle of dinner they must have dropped 20 pounds of silverware into a bin in the dining area. Its something you would see at a diner. Adding to the feel of the place was the patrons. One with a hacking nasty cough that lasted through the meal. The rest were loud and when I looked around nobody seemed very happy in there. The waitress was on the spot with the service. Items showed up in a very reasonable time. But no friendly feel at all. On the other hand the food was very good, plentiful, and inexpensive. Very good burger and fries. The salad was exactly how I asked for it. My dates turkey club was far more than she could eat and she said it was excellant. read more

Although my friends seemed generally pleased, and the prices are reasonable and the service good, I must say you should steer clear of the shepherd's pie which although ample is literally about 85 percent mashed potatoes and so little meat and veggies that there's not enough of these ingredients to actually determine if it tastes okay. Apparently it included a modicum of ground beef or ground lamb and a few kernels of corn. No other visible or tastable ingredients. A really disappointing meal. read more

They came out with the breading still very doughy. I sent it back. The same plate came back out no more than 5 minutes later and was still undercooked. The waitress gave an apology but it had some serious overtones of annoyance. I ended up changing to a steak to go. I'm very upset that I didnt get a chance to eat with my party especially as it was my girlfriends and brother in laws birthday dinner (which we told the waitress). I come here often especially for Sunday night dinner and occasional breakfast. I've experienced a crowd for sure. Today me and 2 friends came for breakfast at 11am. Typical rush - we expected a wait. Say quickly surprisingly but our waitress didn't speak to us for 45 minutes and we watched tables who sat long after us come, eat, pay and leave. We ordered at 11:09 and did not get our food until 12:25pm. And NO ONE helped us or even looked our way. I'm appalled at the lack of service.
