They work magic!! I purchased a dress from Bronx and Banco but when I got it in, I noticed the cups were A size and the neckline was straight across. I took it to Laura's Couture to work magic. Upon shortening the dress, some extra material was used from the bottom to add D cups and make a sweetheart line. I was a little worried it wouldn't look right after such big alterations but they did a wonderful job! I truly felt like the princess I should on my wedding day!! So impressed with the final look. I am still getting compliments from my epic outfit change! I also took my wedding dress here which needed some minor alterations and it turned out perfectly as well of course. They also did my bustle and color coded it for my maid of honor - she was very thankful for that! Laura thinks of it all and does stunning work. Beware. This place has quite a price tag. I went here in good faith after being recommended by a very well known bridal salon in Houston. While they did their job fixing my wedding dress, the customer service is the worst that I have ever experienced... ever. They are extremely rude. They told me to come at a certain time for my first appointment and they showed up 30 minutes late. At my second appointment they told me that I had arrived 30 minutes late even though I did not and had a text confirming my appointment time. For the amount of money that you spend and being such a "respected" vendor, you would expect better basic mannerisms. read more

Listen, this place was recommend to me by ivory bridal. Yes, I understand they have a fancy place and they may do good work. I have one month to get my wedding dress altered, and they were charging a $400 "rush" fee, the lady on the phone even commented that I "live life on the edge". They quoted on the phone that there will be 1.2k-1.7k in alterations on top of that. Please call around to other places like lady k tailors or prestige by Mario. I ended up going with lady k and they charged me $700 TOTAL. With no rush fee. The lady did even blink an eye with having a month to tailor it. The prices are ridiculous at Laura's, but if you don't care about blowing money.. go here. Or just go somewhere else place else and save over 1,000 for your honey moon. read more

Just had my first fitting appointment! Everyone was so nice! I brought my 2 besties with me. COVID policy 5/5: I felt very safe and supported. Everyone wore a mask and is super respectful. I think there may be a guest limit if the guest isn't wearing masks so you should check before you go. Process: 5/5 you don't have to bring your shoes to the first appointment but they will ask you to put on the gown so make sure you wear the appropriate underwear/covering. The alteration specialist were very kind and such good listeners! They gave me very helpful suggestions. If your dress is big or difficult to get into, please ask for help! My dress wasn't too bad and I managed to get into it without many issues. Price 5/5: amazing! I was expecting to spend over 5000 on the alterations given that I was quoted that amount for my reception dress which costed only 200 dollars at another store. HOWEVER they quoted me only ~2000 for everything which includes a bustle! Honestly I thought this was a steal consider the cost of the dress and what I wanted. I showed up to the location at 11 on a Saturday with the intention to get a bridesmaid's dress length altered . I did not have an appointment. I did not know this was by appointment only until..... I arrive and realized I have to be buzzed in to get to their office on the 2nd floor. I could see someone in the office walking around as I was standing on first floor. I called 3 times to request to be buzzed in and no answer. I decided to get in my car and drive up to second floor. Got in the building finally and walked to the suite. They did an great job on my wedding dress- the bustle they did was gorgeous and the fit was great. Just be prepared to spend a lot. I prepped myself knowing I would be spending a lot but I was still in shock. I spent $6000 on alterations here but to be fair I had two ines di santo gowns altered and two other just normal easier to alter dresses but their prices went up from the first time I saw them last fall to the spring. It was hard to stomach the costs as the alterations cost almost as much as my gowns from ivory bridal but I guess I wouldn't trust any other place to do it but be prepared to shell out heavily coming here. They did take a sample gown I got majorly on sale that was a size 10 and altered it beautifully into a size 2. I recommend buying a sample gown from ivory and then the alterations will cost the same no matter what bc I bought a brand new gown at ivory that almost fit me perfect and the alterations ended up costing the same as the one altered from a size 10....if I had to do it again I would buy the sample gown for sure as Laura alterations could repair it if any rips etc and make it look almost new again read more

Customer service is absolutely abhorrent. Even if the alterations are done well, I would save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. After the second fitting of my fiance's wedding dress, we asked about making an alteration around the straps to relieve some of the weight - as it was cutting into her shoulders. The lady was nice and suggested putting elastic around that area and we agreed and left the dress for a final alteration. We had moved out of town, so my mother in law picked up the dress. My fiance tried it on when we came in on Tuesday before the Saturday wedding and noticed the shoulders weren't altered at all. I called on her behalf to seek additional information to see if we were missing something. The man who answered the phone cut me off mid-sentence and told me he can only deal with my fiance. I had my fiance call back and instead of providing answers, the manager focused on why we didn't find the issue when we picked up the dress. He was condescending when speaking to us, and told us we needed to make another appointment to discuss anything further. This was only one of the MANY "customer service" issues we ran into throughout the process, and wish we would've taken our business elsewhere. read more

So I had a friend who came here to get her wedding dress done. She said that she had no complaints about the work done on her dress. She was getting married soon so she didn't have time to shop like me. I came to Laura's Couture to get an estimate for my alterations. Laura and her daughter were very nice and when the estimate was done they assumed that I was going to go with them. Wrong!!!! My wedding was 10 months away at the time. Laura was also recommended to me by the owner of the dress shop that I purchased my dress from and her words were that the prices were very reasonable. I didn't think that it was reasonable at all. The price for the alterations costs more than what I paid for the dress!!! Here's a comparison: I got a quote for the hem $240 at Laura's alterations (my dress is 3 layers) I went somewhere else and was quoted $90. Taking in the top at Laura's Couture was $140 vs taking in the somewhere else was $55. This is a quote on the same dress. I had time to shop around and I got a few recommendations for friends. I found my dress at a consignment shop so obviously I'm not trying to pay a crap load of money to get my dress done. I will absolutely not pay the more for alterations than I paid for my dress. I do think they are charging this price bc of the location. But when I got my estimate, I was shocked. Anyhow I went with another place and they did a beautiful job and I even got a bustle as well and the other place all for $300 total. I would have paid close to $800 for the same thing at Laura's. I came here off the recommendation of a friend and my experience was unfortunately very different from hers. Their contact system is nearly impossible and for almost each of my appointments they messed up the time. It was like pulling teeth to have them loosen my dress to be able to breathe after they tightened it too much at my initial fitting (mind you, I did not gain any weight in between fittings). There were also weird chunks of beading missing on my dress at my final fitting that weren't there when I brought it originally. Not an experience I'd recommend for future brides. read more

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place. First, my appointment was at 2pm ( I was there a few minutes early to not be late). I wasn't seen until close to 2:45pm. During that appointment, the lady (Karime I believe was her name), walked out twice during my alterations so her full attention wasn't on me. As soon as she found out I was there for an estimate only (they quoted me $700 for some simple alterations. I had no beading or lace or anything to the extreme)I was paid less attention to. In fact, I literally got out of my dress myself, she left in a rush and they blew me off toward the front saying, "oh, your estimate is on the front counter. Bye". Horrible experience!!!!! Laura gave the worst customer service and she was very rude after I told her about some bad alternations on my friend's wedding dress!!! They cut it way too short and crocked. They were so over priced for the service they gave. It was double the price that it should've been, and they cut her dress before giving her a quote. No one helped her in and out of her wedding dress which had numerous pins in it. Just because they are in the galleria area doesn't mean that they are high class like the try to portray themselves. Her dress fit so well that I knew Laura's couture was the place for me. The seamstress knew exactly how to make my dress fit my specific body type. She listened to all my concerns, and was very attentive to all the little details. My dress is full lace, and I was worried about steaming it or, concerned about how we could modify the lace. At my first fitting all of those concerns went out the window. I felt confident that I was leaving my dress in very capable hands! Not just good, but perfect alterations for high-end needs. I had my silk, Lazaro wedding dress cut down from the sample size 8 to a guesstimate of about a 2. I never had any concerns about the work to be done and received customized attention while I was standing on that wooden box! They are very family oriented and were very patient when I had to bring my niece to some of the fittings (she's a very well-behaved 4 yr old, but she gets excited over wedding dresses too. :) The alterations were more expensive than I imagined, but you get what you pay for and I basically got a custom dress without tears of worry. (I read horror stories about some alterations on wedding sites... that will not happen here.) They also make custom sleeves, hairpins and they even made my veil. Laura, Karime and their team of experts were AMAZING! I just got married this past Saturday on October 21, 2017. I gave them my dress that was very plain by Galia Lahav (Style: Odette) and asked them to help me transform it to look like the Galia Lahav Dress (Style: Ms Elle) that I wanted. They added the giant lace pieces to my plain skirt, created a beautiful lace edging that was once plain and dull around my back, created a beautiful cathedral veil that sparkled as I walked down the aisle and so much more. They put so much love and care into each detail made sure that I was pleased with every single thing they did. "I want you to LOVE IT" Laura once expressed to me and love it I definitely did! Laura's came recommended from BHLDN where I bought my wedding dress and I'm so happy I went there! The alterations made the dress fit like a glove. During what was supposed to be the last fitting, I decided I wanted to cut my dress off above the knee to have a cocktail length look for the reception, and they did it with me standing in it. It was absolutely perfect. (I had a skirt to put on top of the dress for a longer look for the ceremony). They were so nice and I would definitely recommend their services. I will say that overall my wedding dress looked great, but I was not able to get everything done because it was too pricey. We ended up spending the same amount in alterations than we did on the dress itself. The first appointment, there were 2 ladies that cut the bottom of the dress to hem it. I noticed right away that one lady was cutting a lot more than the other lady. When I pointed it out, they told me I didn't know what I was talking about, only to come back at my next fitting to tell me I was correct... The reason for such a low rating is the horrible customer service I received. The week of my wedding and the day before I was to pick up my dress I received a call from Laura telling me my dress did not fit in the bag I brought it in... That made very little sense to me since I brought it in in the bag and they had take a lot of material from the dress... But I went with it and agreed to pay for a bigger bag. Then she told me that I did not pay for dress steaming... (Are you kidding me? Shouldn't this be standard?) but, my mom and I remember vividly telling them we need it steamed bc I was taking it straight to our wedding destination... My sister and I also went in for my last fitting and again they said it would be steamed and ready for pick up in 2 days... So when I questioned Laura about these conversations she got extremely disrespectful and condescending. Now, I will be honest... I probably did not respond in the most graceful manner, but she called me stupid and it was 3 days before my wedding... So I would never take anything to them again and I think I could have gotten better work done for a third of the price elsewhere without being degraded or stressed out right before my wedding. read more
