Been wanting to try out Latke Love for some time now, and finally want the other weekend. Got directions from Yelp & it turns out that I was very close to the place, a bonus! They have a large outdoor area with seating & also a nice Dine In area right across from the open kitchen. I don't think the owner thought they'd be that busy, because it was just him. Cooking & playing server, but he didn't miss a beat! They have a large menu board & then you order right there & sit back & wait for your Latkes! Everything looked very good on the menu & I decided on the Jewban, which is a spinoff of a Cuban sandwich (See Pictures). It took around 15 minutes for my stuff to arrive, and a server would not have speeded things up. The owner was right on point, cooking and serving, and that's no easy feat when there's about 20-25 people inside & out. When did I discover this place? I'd say at least a few years ago. Some of my Yelp friends had utilized this business in the past and left some reviews, good or bad. Some of the comments stood out to me where they said foods were overpriced or the guy who runs the place was rude etc. Still, these not so great comments didn't discourage me from trying this place because after all, I'll have to be there to experience myself. So today, since I was in the neighborhood and when I passed by this place heading west on West Littleton Blvd, I made a stop on my way back. And I am glad that I went here today. Let's start with the "service" part. It was decent or should I say "good"? Yes, I think I should. The guy (older gent who appeared to be the guy many described him as "blunt" or "rude" in their reviews) looked at me immediately when I approached the ordering counter and said nice hi while he was still assisting a customer. Nice start there. Once he was done with her, he said, "How are you? Let me get her food going then I'll assist you so just a moment" or something along those lines (to which I said, "Yes, that's fine".) It didn't take long before I came back and assisted me. He asked me if it was my first time at the restaurant (to which I said yes.) He then quickly gave me a rundown of the menu (by the way, the menu on one of the walls is very simply; there should not be any confusion there.) He gave me a minute to decide but he immediately came back to me as he noticed that I was ready to order. I went with the Manhattan. I paid for my food and sat at one of the tables. It was a good 15 minutes before my food was ready. This made sense. There were several people who had already been there before me. Several people walked in (while I was still waiting); they appeared to have placed their orders online so they came in to pick up there foods. When he started putting my food in a bag, he kindly asked me if I needed any utensils (to which I said yes.) Well, this whole interaction with him was very smooth. He was pleasant to me the whole time. Now the food. Like I said earlier, some described this place "overpriced" or "expensive". Because of that, I was kind of expecting to see some small portion of food despite the price of $17. My Manhattan was in a small container and it wasn't necessarily heavy. Mmmm.... I was super hungry when I walked back to my car so I knew I wasn't going to wait until I got home. Once I sat in my driver seat, I opened the container. Yup, the portion looked small. But as soon as I started devouring my food, I had a little change of mind. The layers of smoked salmon were quite plenty and tasted so fresh. It was one of the best smoked salmon I have ever tasted to be frank. There was a latke on top but there were three more at the bottom of the container (like the guy said when he described all the items on the menu.) And the latkes were freshly made and very savory and had nice brown on each of them. "Wow, this is delicious" is what I said to myself while I was stuffing my mouth; I literally couldn't stop eating. Oh, let's not forget: the capers were truly the ENHANCERS and they were generously sprinkled. Funny, the slices of red onion kind of burned my left eye (as they were freshly cut; the chemical called syn-propanethial-S-oxide is the culprit which did it. Whatever the case, I love fresh onions especially the red ones!) Yes, I still think that $17.50 for that portion was a bit expensive but I feel like I went here for the quality (mostly.) As much as we are not fans of overpriced things, I (personally) wasn't disappointed in any way based on today's experience. Well, will I go back here? Yes, I will. Now that Manhattan was delicious, I'd love to try a few different ones on the menu. This was a solid 4-star experience. P.S. The interior of the restaurant is simple. We've driven by Latke Love a bunch of times and always say "we need to try that place." Well, today we did and we are so glad we did, it was delicious! The restaurant is small and cozy, it looks like walking into your grandma's house. When we walked in the food smelled incredible! The owner was really friendly and answered all of our questions. The food was outstanding, some of the freshest salmon I've ever tasted and I'd buy the dill cream if they sold it! The Guinness gravy and brisket were amazing and perfectly seasoned, and the latkes were outstanding! To top it all off, the homemade applesauce was delicious. I was so excited to try Latke Love, and it did not disappoint! I decided to come here the first weekend of Hanukkah, and ordered the Oy Vey Caliente vegetarian, as they were out of pork (this was around midday and they are popular). It was AMAZING. The green chili was the perfect spice level, seriously perfection, and the amount of cheese, egg, and latkes were perfectly ratio-ed. I woke up thinking about it again today and craving more. We also got a basic, which was good but the specialty latkes are where it's at here. I can't wait to come back! The food here was delicious. We stopped on a Saturday morning around 10:30AM and it was relatively busy but not crazy busy. The (what I assume was) owner was feverishly trying to get orders out and seemed a bit flustered but greeted us, gave us a point over to the menu and let us know to let him know if we had questions. I ordered the Meshuga, and it was so good! It is a combination of two other menu items both of which I would also order based off of what I ate. The place is small (quaint might be a more apt description) but inviting. We sat in the back outdoor area on what was a beautiful spring day, and it was lovely. The prices were reasonable, not amazing, but nothing that made my wallet hurt either. The portion sizes were also generous so that makes the value a bit better. During this COVID-19 time, my husband and I have decided to try a local food place every week in support of our community. To celebrate the Jewish Sedar from my husband's side (since we are not celebrating this year, since its considered a huge gathering) I decided to surprise him with his favorite: latkes and do a zoom call with his family. Grateful and Thankful for this small business! We did a "party box" pick up from these guys and I could NOT wait to review. Literally picked it up less than 2 hours ago. I called Steve on April 4th and asked if he could still produce a to-go box for the next day (less than 24 hours) STEVE, THANK YOU! We got the Baleboosteh Box, it came with the following... -A dozen latkes -1lb of brisket (cooked!) -Gravy (a ton of it) -Seasoned Carrots *All for less than $40 (this is an amazing deal, especially being in a post-college-grad budget! The brisket was flavorful, delicious, and not enough words to describe. The latkes (reheated based on instructions) turned out the way a latke should taste. It was crispy (and right before the burnt). It was AMAZING! The gravy, was salty, but paired so well with the carrots, the meat, and even the latkes. They suggested to put water in it and I was grateful for that tip! The tub of gravy was huge, so we even have extra (probably put it on mashed potatoes later) The carrots were caramelized perfection. I could definitely eat it like candy. Steve and Tina, you guys are doing an amazing job and I hope more people can come to visit you during this time. Please support this amazing community! This little spot is ranked 27th in Yelps top 100 this year. All I can say is believe the hype. The inside is small and unassuming, while the outside patio is spacious and a great place to enjoy all the deliciousness. Now let's get to the best part. The food. We started with the Meshuggah, four crispy latkes with pulled pork and brisket. We followed that up with a special, the Reuben (basically all Reuben fixings on top of the latkes). The toppings for both dishes were delicious and plentiful, while the latkes gave us the traditional taste we were looking for. Trust me, you will not leave hungry! The knishes also looked great, but we were so stuffed, so we're saving that for the next time. It took a little while for us to get our food, but perfection takes time! They were sold out of many things, which I was expecting but I still was able to order both latke styles I wanted, the Manhattan and a Pastrami Reuben. As someone who doesn't eat pork, I'm sad I missed the beef bagel dog. The menu is creative while still maintaining all the deli staples. The name Latke Love is spot on since the latkes are delicious. They're slightly thicker/more patty-like than the ones I grew up eating. The portions are solid - there was LOTS of lox and pastrami, respectively. The bowls are really well put-together with balanced flavors. The outdoor seating is great and dog-friendly. There are many well-spaced tables in the sun. The basic theme is what I would call Jewish adjacent. . .with awesome Latke (potato pancakes) as the star of several dishes. If that is too much for you there are amazing burritos and blintz/crepes available. My sons shared 4 S'mores crepes . . .with a side of Nutella (we had asked for nutella first. .but he didn't' have enough or something?). These things were amazing with marshmallow cream and chocolate and goodness. I got a pork chili and latke bowl (definitely not Kosher) and my wife got this burrito. The egg was over easy and just added to the texture of the pork chili. It was spicy! The latkes were crisp and just soaked up the sauce. I inhaled it. I will be coming back here and bringing my family and trying this one out. It was pretty busy for lunch on a Friday. Backyard patio area was packed with plenty of shady seating.
