AVOID THESE BUTCHERS. Not worth the pennies you save initially vs legitimate optometry offices. I have suffered for over a year now from a botched Lasik of my left eye by Dr. Brewer and his staff, leaving me with a condition where the corneal flap - the top layer of my eye - often literally rips open, leaving me blind and in excruciating pain in that eye. Imagine a deep cut immersed under constant salt water (my tears). I literally had to show up to their physical office to get them to pay attention, with my eye blood red and clearly destroyed - they did NOT care at all about the outcome of the operation once the money was paid and I was out the door that first day. I am told by specialists that the constant rips could be fixed by a follow-up laser treatment in that eye, but despite a half dozen horrific rips this past year, costing me SO much time and pain, the clinic won't assist by performing a new operation to fix their screw up - which means I will have shell out thousands in addition to the thousands I already paid this clinic. When I argued the "lifetime agreement" covers exactly this kind of mistake by their surgeons, one clearly affecting my eyesight, they lawyered up and dug in hard. They DO NOT CARE about you once you have paid your money lol. I had perfect eyes before this, in terms of health - never had to use eye drops once in my life, never wore contacts, run and am in fantastic shape, but now at the ripe old age of 52 I am stuck with a condition these total charlatans caused that will require CONSTANT care, and they have made clear they do not give a DAMN. Avoid these fraudsters - go to a real optometry practice and spend the money to have it done right the first time. Trust me. Please do not risk your eyes. I have learned the hard way and all I can do is try to warn others. The pic below is from one of the first of the rips I experienced- it lasted six full days, during which I could not read and could not see out of that eye - the pain was worse than childbirth.

It's been two hours. Feeling a little neglected.

Finally able to reschedule, and I'm happy to no longer have to wear glasses. This experience was totally different from my previous experiences, in that they actually kept auto-texting me to confirm my appointment and location. (Maybe they read my previous review.) The procedure was quick and painless. Over in, I think, under 10 minutes. Everyone is very nice there, including the doctor. I don't have 20/20 vision; wording that is relatively far away is still difficult for me to make out. And things very up close are now blurry, whereas they weren't before. But I'm approaching my 40's, so soon that won't matter. I was hoping for perfect or better than perfect vision, but that was wishful thinking considering that I started out with extreme nearsightedness and severe astigmatism. I think they did the very best they could with these "eyes," which, shouldn't they have been culled out of the gene pool, like a thousand years ago? Idk. I do recommend this place. Just make sure they don't accidentally book you in Dallas.

Bye bye 4 eyes, hello eagle eyes!

After 33 years of wearing glasses, I finally decided to take the plunge. This plunge is a costly one, no secret about that, but one I'm happy to have taken. After booking a consultation online I met with the staff which were all very helpful and warm. I'm convinced that Ernesto was hired purely for his charm and accent which quickly seduces you and makes you question: "where do I sign?". He was very thorough and definitely put me at ease during my exam. Once my exams were done I was whisked off to the finance department where they quickly set up my appointment. HOLD ON! This is moving a bit fast, right? Right. However, in my case, I'm happy they did because it made me make my decision faster. I've been on the fence for 4 years now and I'm finally getting the push, so whatever, here I go. I booked my appointment, opened a line of credit ($3880/12 mo no interest w/ Care Credit..ugh, debt in the time of a pandemic) and went home. Exactly one week later I'm back and this time I'm leaving with perfect vision... sorta. The assistant put some drops in my eyes, gave me two Tylenol PM and told me I would be ok. Then Dr. Brewer walked me through the process and took me in to the operation room where I was met by the best hand holder, Carolyn and his assistant, Ernesto... wait. This guy has other skills? He's not just the office hunk? Swoon. Ok, back to the surgery. I had my distance sight corrected only as my near sight needed no correction. The laser process is weird AF! It takes less then 10 minutes and you swear that you were just abducted by aliens. Numbing drops are constantly administered so you never feel a thing. When I got up, I could see across the room! My vision was blurry when I left which was quickly met by a stinging burn, sorta like I just had my eyes cut up... an hour later I was sleeping. 24 hours later I had 20/15 vision and felt amazing! One week later, I have some dry eye when I wake up in the morning (they give you a ton of drops to get you through) and am so glad that I made this decision! This plunge has been the best investment I have made for myself thus far.

So I have been putting off lasik for the longest time because of money! I finally was going to start a new job, and at 30 years old, I decided to take the jump and do something good for my long term health. My eyes have always naturally hated contacts and they would literally get lost in my eyes too many times to count. I heard about $1,000 off and saw other reviews and after my experience for my initial visit, I had absolutely no reason not to schedule the lasik (which was easily available on the schedule). I had my surgery 3 days ago and wow....NO regrets! I just had my follow up today and I'm proud to say I ALREADY have 20/15 vision, of which they said is even better than 20/20. There's a lot of eye drops for the next month, but so so worth it! Money wise it was under 4 grand and with CareCredit, you have a year to pay off with no interest. It really pays for itself in less than 10 years, not including the happiness and freedom that goes with it! The actual appointment for my surgery took only 50 minutes, when I prepared for atleast an hour and a half. Dr. Brewer came in to meet me the surgery ahead of mine and was very personable. During surgery, he never let the room be silent for my mind to fear and question what was happening. He was smooth and comforting in his voice. The staff, from phone calls, exam practitioner (Amanda), optometrist, and surgeon we're all so friendly and professional. The process was SO easy and I'm thankful for my experience and my "bright" future (atleast one I can now see).

Here's the video!! amd yes, he sings during the procedure ... lol!

Well it's been a couple of months since my procedure and I most say .. it's so nice not to wear glasses again! I'm down to just one eye drop a day I feel 0 discomfort and I can wear my cute sunglasses now! Now worrying about not seeing right! I love everyone at a LasikPlus they are all super nice and helpful and the Dr January well he just did amazing! Here's a pic, and I don't know if I can Post a video all try ;) Laura Santos ISG

From the very first free consultation until I left the building after my procedure, LasikPlus was incredible. I am an RN and I was blown away by how attentive, efficient, and detail-oriented the staff were. There wasn't a single person there that I would have been nervous to have help me. Everyone did an amazing job and the process went so smoothly. Dr. Whiteside has an excellent bedside manner and a way of making you feel at ease, even with lasers coming at your eyeballs. He and the staff do an excellent job making sure you have all of the information you need, and provide several opportunities to ask all of the questions you can think of. At the consultation, they provided paperwork on what to expect pre-, intra-, and post- procedure, and even let you take home the consent form to read prior to arrival. The staff was not only great to me, but to my husband and son. On the day of my procedure, our babysitter had to cancel and we had to take our toddler along. The staff made sure he was comfortable and offered snacks and drinks and entertainment. Working in healthcare myself, I know it is not always convenient to have a child in a facility meant for adults, but the staff never once made us feel weird about it, and he even provided some comic relief to those waiting around us I'm post-op day 2 and feeling great. My vision is spectacular and I have no pain. Thank you, LasikPlus! Also- having read the reviews on this place prior to scheduling my procedure, I can't help but notice most of the negative reviews are for those who were disappointed in cost or not qualifying for lasik, rather than performance, and while that is a huge bummer, I think it unfairly swings the rating. So I encourage y'all to read the negative reviews rather than skimming over them.

I scheduled an appointment (I was able to be seen the next day) and the visit went smoothly. The office staff was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Lindsey was delightful. Every good thing Michelle said about Dr. Lindsey was true for me, too. We had a good time chatting about faculty we knew in common. My fears of an eye infection were groundless (my discomfort was most likely due to allergies so she gave me some eyedrops). I had her do a full refraction and eye exam since I was already there. She found my current eyeglass prescription was fine and didn't need to be changed, and that my eyes were perfectly healthy (she said they were likely the healthiest she'd see all day). I'll see her again in a year, and look forward to it. If you need an ophthalmologist who is well-trained in diseases of the eye as well as the normal eyeglass and contact lens fitting, then I recommend Dr. Lindsey. Other physicians who are members of the group practice (The Eye Institute of Austin) appear to be equally stellar in their pedigrees.

She listens well and proposes workable solutions for every little complaint - like loading me up with samples of various eye drops to try with my finicky gas permeable lenses. Her staff is excellent, as well, and for as long as I've been seeing her, she's had the same assistant, the same optometrist, the same contact lens expert - the longevity in this office just says something. Also, she hates waiting at the doctor's office, so she works hard to stay on schedule, which I so appreciate. Doctors who realize that their patients' time is valuable, too, are much too rare. I'd recommend Dr. Lindsey without reservation.

My most recent personal experience with Austin Eye was surgery for lens replacement. While some have derided the facility on Bee Caves Rd as factory-like, I would counter that with the fact that consistent good practices yield consistently good results. I felt well cared for throughout the process, and the results (my excellent recovery and visual acuity) speak for themselves. In the event there had been any problems, I was given Dr. Wong's direct cell number and email. The Austin Eye facility is beautiful, modern, and well-maintained.
