Very clean waiting room.
Nomin D.

I got my lasik done 4 days ago. From consultation to procedure day was smooth. They explain everything to you, consultation is very detail oriented and every step of the way makes you feel comfortable. They call you to confirm your appointment and review all before and after care of lasik. Preparation is about 1-1.5 hour of waiting in the waiting area with some eye drops. But the procedure itself is only 8 minutes per Dr. Wills. Procedure itself was quick, very little pain, and walk out with facility provided sunglasses. I wish they gave me the night goggles because sleeping with that sunglass for the first night was not comfortable. I took off 2 stars because of the followup appointment saga. My appointment was at 9:10am. Arrived on time and checked in. Then, waited to see the doctor for an hour at the lobby. Once I finally got to the room to see the doctor, she didn't even introduce herself, she started talking about my case out loud even before closing the door which there were lot of people waiting outside as well (what about patient privacy?) She didn't introduce herself-I had to ask "who are you?" She dismissed my questions and kept repeating herself "I'll see you in a month!!" I heard her the first time and I clarified my question again, but she dismissed, opened the door, and let me out. I was in the room for literally 2 minutes. I expressed my concern to the front desk, and gladly got my month follow up with a different doctor. Hopefully that doctor isn't as dismissive as Dr. Sea/See (sp) for short.

Keratoconus

Don't go to LASIK Plus! They will literally destroy your vision. I got lasik here back in 2006 and now I have a condition called Keratoconus. It is thinning of the cornea which lasik can lead to. They won't tell you this of course and market lasik like it is as easy as ordering fast food. Lasik is a medical procedure that has serious longterm consequences! I have little options and expensive treatments ahead to fix this damage to my vision. Please avoid Lasik Plus and Dr. Neil Wills. You will end up worse than you came in! He will destroy your vision. If I knew what I know now, I would never consent to lasik or care from lasik plus. Steer clear. If I can save one person from this then I'm satisfied. Please look at the pictures attached to get an example of what Keratoconus is. Don't go to Lasik Plus. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Yesterday I was nervous, excited but safe all at the same time. I knew I was in good hands. The front desk team since my very first consultation were extremely friendly which made me feel comfortable. They answered all of my questions which made me booked my LASIK appointment for the following week. The day of the surgery I was ready. I met Dr. Wills, such a kind man, very knowledgeable who kept asking me if I had any questions. He kept me informed during the procedure letting me know what was I experiencing so nothing caught of guard! It was PAINLESS and super quick. About 8 minutes! 4 hours after the procedure Dr. Wills called my cellphone to check on me and made sure I was doing well. I am doing FANTASTIC!! If you are thinking about LASIK, I recommend this place to my friends and family!

How much is LASIK when paying directly out of pocket?

It really depends on your eyes and how much correction you need. Could be anywhere from $1,000 and $4,000.

Has anyone had monolasik? If so, what was your experience?

I haven't had monolasik but had lasik with multiple astigmatisms in each eye by Dr. Wills, and he is fantastic! My husband had PRK and had just as good of an experience. I think the staff is widely experienced to reccomend the best procedure for… Read more

How much shall I pay for the appointment? I don't have insurance

The consultation is free! This is where they check if you are eligible for the service. Then they will give you an estimate.

I run 3 miles every day. How long will I have to wait before running after the procedure?

I was told at least 3-5 days before doing any sort of exercise and a couple of weeks before doing anything where you could get sweat in your eyes. Of course, double check with the optometrist or physician who's treating you.

However, it wasn't until recently, when I had a serious problem, that I realized just how lucky I was to have chosen Dr. Wills so long ago to be my Lasik doctor. Since November 2015, Dr. Wills has been treating me for a very severe case of "in- growth" under my Lasik flap resulting from a cat scratch to my left eye and almost two years of uncontrolled growth. The in-growth had spread across my cornea resulting in astigmatism and extreme dry eyes. Dr. Wills was under no obligation to take my case and could have easily referred me to another doctor. Fortunately for me, Dr. Wills agreed to help me because the in-growth covering my cornea was significant. He knew his experience made him uniquely qualified to successfully perform the surgery I needed. Dr. Wills ended up performing two surgeries on my eye to "scrape" the in-growth from my cornea. This required an incision to lift the flap, scrape away the in-growth, and place a protective contact lens over my eye. Dr. Wills is such a skilled and experienced surgeon that, unlike many other surgeons, he did not have to use sutures to secure the flap. After the second surgery, Dr. Wills had to irrigate my eye twice to wash away new in-growth that was returning. Since that time, I have had three appointments with Dr. Wills and, so far, the in-growth has not come back. My eyes are no longer dry and my vision has vastly improved. Dr. Wills performed the surgeries, the irrigations and all the exams as a "follow-up" procedure to the original Lasik surgery and never charged me one penny. By the time I had my first appointment with Dr. Wills I had already been seen by several doctors who could not help me. Right after the cat scratch, I was seen by a doctor who prescribed antibiotics. After a few days, the injury seemed to heal and I frankly didn't think any more about it. As time went on and my eyes became increasingly dry and my sight blurred, I went to an optometrist for prescription glasses. The optometrist told me I had scar tissue around the Lasik flap. He couldn't help me. From there, I went to an ophthalmologist who, after two appointments and a dry eye test which turned out negative, couldn't help me either and ultimately referred me back to my original Lasik doctor (Dr. Wills). At this point I was very upset because I didn't know if this condition could be treated, if it would return, and what it might mean for the future of my eyesight. I made an appointment with Dr. Wills who immediately diagnosed my condition, told me what to expect, and laid out a treatment plan. He was comforting, patient and called me after each procedure to see how I was doing. His staff was always friendly and scheduled my next appointment before I left the office. This experience has made me realize that you have to choose not only the most talented ophthalmologist you can find to perform your Lasik surgery but also one that has integrity, cares and feels a responsibility for his patients. You never know when you might really need that superior level of care. I am profoundly grateful that Dr. Wills is my Lasik eye doctor and I would recommend him without hesitation to my family and friends.

She has been seeking corrective treatment from the Wilmer Institute at John Hopkins University Med Center ever since! It has been a nightmare. Her eye color has even changed from light brown to blue. It has been painful for her physically and emotionally. The drives to Baltimore and the occasional overnight stays (surgeries) have been a monetary strain to her and she is not able to enjoy her retirement as a result of this. Not once has he called her to see if she is OK. If she had been more litigious - maybe she could have slapped him with a malpractice suit. For my appt, some staff gave me the peripheral vision exam, and some other routine exams first before Dr Hubert came for the eye exam for lenses. He was very patient, attentive, and answered all of my questions. Very happy with the experience. My previous experience at the other eye clinic was pretty terrible, an assistant was doing eye exam for lenses and a Dr only came in if there were problems, the sample glasses that the assistant tried on me with the prescription he got was still blurry, Dr was very annoyed that she had to step in and check the work instead of just signing off on it. That's what happens when health clinics get sold to PE firms, they focus on the bottom line more than patient care (trying to get assistants to do most of the work to free up Dr time and see more patients). Dr Hubert mentioned that NOVA Doctors have no intentions of selling their practice to PE and I can see the difference in care. Thank you also to the office staff who are very friendly.

Dr. Hubert and the entire staff were kind, patient, and professional throughout my visit. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. Note that if you're a first time patient, you'll have several forms to fill out via paper. On the bright side, the pen I borrowed was super smooth to write with. Plus one star for that! For some reason, the doctor was behind, but the staff did a good job of informing me of the delays, popping in and out to let me know how much longer they'll be My not so favorite part about optometry visits is the puff in the eye and the dilation part, but that's just me. The tech was very patient with me blinking and having to re-do maybe twice or three times. Once seen by Dr. Hubert, the visit accelerated from there. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and was able to describe my conditions in a way that was understandable for me. Little did he know I come from a family of eye doctors, but I so appreciated that he was able to catch something my family had missed all along. The staff even gave me a week's worth of contact lenses samples as I was going away for a week, and that was so appreciated, especially since my visit took longer than usual. I was able to get my contact lens prescription via email too since it's a bit of a trek for me to find parking or walk there - super convenient. Overall, I highly recommend NVDO. Even if they have a slower / hectic schedule, they really do care about their patients and are super accommodating. Be sure to book way ahead of time because their schedule goes pretty far out - I waited 3 weeks for my appointment.
